c131: Invite Two People to Join the Time and Space Patrol
After Baby's final defeat, the Tuffle parasite was eradicated once and for all. All those who had fallen under his control slowly returned to normal, regaining their senses.
"Uub, you're okay that's great!" Son Goku said joyfully, reverting from his Super Saiyan 4 state to his child-like form, a side effect of Shenron's wish in Dragon Ball GT.
"I was actually hiding inside Baby, waiting for the right moment to strike," Uub said with a sheepish laugh, rubbing the back of his head. "Didn't expect him to be defeated like that."
"Baby's power was monstrous," Goku admitted, nodding. "Even with Super Saiyan 4, all I could manage was a stalemate. His Tuffle-enhanced body gave him too many advantages."
"Dad!" Trunks flew down, landing beside the unconscious Vegeta, who had been forcibly used as Baby's host.
"Give this to him." Li Xu tossed over a Senzu Bean, the familiar magical item cultivated by Korin.
"Thanks!" Trunks caught it and quickly gave it to Vegeta, who woke moments later, groaning.
"Li Xu... who exactly are you?" Goku asked, his curiosity piqued. "Are there other Saiyans out there besides us and the ones from Planet Vegeta?"
"I come from a different timeline a separate dimension altogether," Li Xu replied calmly. "In this timeline, I don't exist."
"Oh! Like the Trunks from the future who helped us fight the Androids!" Goku exclaimed, remembering the alternate timeline warrior.
"You didn't cross over for no reason," Vegeta said sharply, his pride still smarting from having been used as Baby's puppet. "What's your real purpose here?"
"I'm here to recruit you both Goku and Vegeta to join the Time Patrol," Li Xu declared.
"Time Patrol? What's that?" Goku scratched his head in confusion.
"It's a team established to maintain the integrity of time and space," Li Xu explained. "Right now, I'm just a reserve member. You need to reach a certain level of strength and responsibility to become a full-fledged agent."
"You? A reserve member?! But you're already so strong!" Goku was visibly shocked.
"Time anomalies usually involve incredibly powerful threats. To correct distortions in time, we need fighters on par with gods or beyond," Li Xu explained.
"If it means fighting strong opponents, count me in!" Goku grinned.
"If Kakarot's joining, then I'll go too!" Vegeta said with a smirk. He still had something to prove after the Baby incident.
Li Xu handed over two rings to them. "These are the Time Rings given to all potential Time Patrol members. When you become official members, they'll turn gold."
"They also function as communication devices. When there's a mission, the Supreme Kai of Time will contact you directly," Li Xu added.
"Hey Li Xu, want to have a quick spar?" Goku asked with a smile, his fighting spirit already reignited.
"You just got done fighting Baby don't tell me you've already recovered?" Li Xu said with a chuckle.
"I'll give it a shot anyway!" Goku said, stepping back and powering up.
"Yaaahhh!"
A golden aura exploded around Goku as he shouted, and the ground cracked beneath him, rocks floating up from the sheer energy.
"Kakarot, you reckless fool!" Vegeta muttered, shielding his eyes from the blinding light.
"YAAAHHH!"
A burst of power surged outward as Goku transformed once again into Super Saiyan 4, his black hair turned crimson red, his tail twitching behind him.
"Is that... really Dad?" Goten asked in awe.
"What incredible ki..." Trunks murmured.
"I'm still not at full power," Goku said with a grimace. "Not enough to challenge you yet, Li Xu."
Suddenly an idea struck him.
"Vegeta, Trunks, Gohan, Goten lend me your energy so I can fully recover," Goku said.
"Kakarot, this is idiotic," Vegeta snapped, crossing his arms. "I won't—"
"But aren't you curious to see Li Xu's full strength?" Goku countered.
"Tch... just this once," Vegeta agreed, stepping forward.
One by one, the Saiyans transformed into Super Saiyans and placed their hands on Goku, channeling energy into him. Within moments, Goku's ki stabilized and fully returned.
"All right!" Goku clenched his fists, feeling the power surge. "Now we can really fight! Let's go, Li Xu!"
Li Xu smiled and immediately transformed into Super Saiyan 4 as well. Unlike Goku, he didn't need to progress through each form he used the Law of Force to jump directly to his strongest state.
Goku's eyes narrowed. "Be careful now!" he warned, then lunged forward.
BOOM!
Before Goku could even throw a punch, Li Xu vanished and reappeared in front of him, slamming a fist into his gut. The pain made Goku cough up spit as he reeled back.
"So fast!" Gohan exclaimed.
"Is Kakarot really getting manhandled this badly?" Vegeta growled.
Li Xu took a few steps back. Goku recovered quickly and stood up, panting.
"You're insanely fast! I didn't even see you move!" Goku said, grinning through the pain.
"That's Flash Time Skill," Li Xu said, casually. "It lets me manipulate time in bursts."
"Bounce time?" Goku repeated, confused.
"Like this." Li Xu feinted, then instantly landed another gut punch on Goku, who couldn't react at all.
"Is that even a real technique?" Gohan muttered, dumbfounded.
"There's only a blur from the strike and the hit—nothing in between," Vegeta observed. "It's like there's no wind-up. Damn it… that move's almost impossible to counter."
"How can Uncle Goku beat something like that?" Trunks asked, concerned.
"Idiot, no technique is flawless!" Vegeta snapped. "Even something like Flash Time has to have a weakness!"
BANG BANG BANG!
Li Xu unleashed a flurry of punches. Goku tried to block but failed each time, taking hit after hit.
"You're going to lose like this, Goku," Li Xu said, pausing his assault. He stepped back, curious to see if Goku could adapt.
"Man, that hurt!" Goku rubbed his stomach, still grinning.
"Heh… but I think I figured something out." He grinned wider.
"Oh?" Li Xu raised a brow. "Then show me."
Goku concentrated as Li Xu launched another Flash Time strike. This time, Goku raised an arm and blocked it.
"Heh!" Goku smirked.
"So you guessed my timing and positioned your guard predictable, but impressive." Li Xu smiled.
