c 97: Super No. 13
"I'm afraid Son Goku's nature is something that will never change," Li Xu said, shaking his head slightly.
Right now, Son Goku's base power level is around 30 million, and once he transforms into a Super Saiyan, his combat power skyrockets to 1.5 billion. Yet, he was still going back and forth in battle with Android 13, whose estimated combat strength was just 800 million.
"Damn it, Goku's strength is monstrous!" Dr. Gero growled, his face twisted with rage. He had expected 13 to at least push Goku back, but not like this.
Then a sudden realization brought a sinister smile to Gero's lips 13 still had an ace up his sleeve.
Boom!
Son Goku caught Android 13's fist mid-punch. Despite the android's attempts to wrench his arm free, Goku's grip held fast.
"I've already seen through your techniques. If this is all you've got, then it's over," Goku said. The prolonged fight had given him time to read 13's fighting rhythm and power.
Android 13 smirked. "You think this is it? Let me show you my real trump card."
Goku loosened his grip slightly, his curiosity piqued by the android's confidence. He wanted to see what was coming.
At that moment, the microchips and energy cores from the destroyed bodies of Androids 14 and 15 suddenly flew into the sky each resembling a CPU core and compact energy cell.
The chips embedded themselves into 13's temples, while the energy cells lodged deep in his chest. Goku took a step back, sensing a drastic surge in energy.
"Ha ha ha!!" 13 laughed maniacally as his body began to transform.
"What is that?!" Krillin shouted, cold sweat beading on his forehead as 13's figure expanded.
The transformation was dramatic his hair turned fiery red, his body bulked up, with his skin turning a vibrant blue, while his shoulders and chest armor turned gray, matching the aesthetics of a mechanized juggernaut.
"That's no ordinary android anymore..." Piccolo murmured. "He fused with 14 and 15."
"This is Super Android 13," Li Xu said, his expression tightening. "His power level now is over 2 billion. His defense is absurdly high like the Legendary Super Saiyan Broly."
If Goku had ended the battle earlier, 13 wouldn't have had time to absorb the chips and cores. Now, the fight had escalated into a nightmare scenario.
"Now Goku dies!" Dr. Gero cackled on the sidelines, overjoyed that his contingency plan had activated flawlessly. "Go, 13! Kill Son Goku!"
"Heh... This is getting interesting." Goku grinned, his fighting spirit blazing despite the odds.
Whoosh!
With a burst of golden aura, Goku surged forward and delivered a full-force punch to Super 13's abdomen but the attack had no effect. The android didn't even flinch.
Goku spun into a kick aimed at Super 13's neck. The massive android merely turned his head with a creak and then caught Goku's leg in one hand.
With terrifying precision, he reared back and launched a heavy punch straight at Goku's chest.
Goku tried to escape, but with his leg pinned, he had no choice but to block with his arms.
Boom!
The blow sent Goku flying like a missile, skidding across the battlefield and carving a deep trench through the earth before finally halting.
"Ugh... That actually hurt," Goku muttered, rubbing his arms. They were numb from the force of the punch.
Still, he wasn't ready to give up. Planting his foot on the ground, he shot back into the sky with a battle cry.
"YAAAH!"
Goku launched a flurry of punches into Super 13's chest, fists crashing like thunderclaps. His barrage was relentless, every strike intended to break through the android's dense armor.
But Super 13 didn't move. He took the hits like a fortress, unfazed.
Goku narrowed his eyes. "His durability... it's insane." He was reminded of how Oozaru-form Saiyans were strong but slow. The same held true here.
"Goku!"
Super 13's voice boomed just before he delivered a crushing punch. Goku, mid-attack, couldn't react in time.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Son Goku's body smashed through several concrete structures, crashing through reinforced walls until he was finally buried beneath a pile of shattered rubble.
"Dad!" Son Gohan shouted, his eyes wide with alarm.
"He'll be fine," Piccolo replied calmly. The Goku he knew would never be taken down so easily not even by an android of this level.
As the dust cloud settled, Goku's silhouette reemerged. His gi was torn in several places, and a thin trail of blood ran from the corner of his mouth, but his expression remained focused.
"That hit stung..." Goku muttered, brushing debris off his shoulder.
He had launched countless attacks at Super Android 13, yet none had made a dent. The android's reinforced bio-metallic body had absorbed everything with minimal reaction.
"Looks like it's time to tap into more power." Goku exhaled slowly, the corner of his mouth twitching into a faint smile. He wasn't particularly worried he still had reserves to draw on.
"HAAAA!!"
With a deafening shout, Goku's golden aura flared violently, igniting a pressure wave that swept outward, shaking the terrain. The energy radiating from him began to intensify rapidly.
"Wait a second…" Vegeta's eyes narrowed as he watched the surging energy. A realization dawned, mixed with frustration. Without noticing, Goku had once again surpassed him.
"That bastard..." Vegeta growled. "He's really pushing past the Super Saiyan barrier."
"Super Saiyan II!" Li Xu observed with a grin. Goku's progress had outstripped his earlier expectations he hadn't thought the Saiyan warrior had already reached this level of transformation.
"HAAAAAH!!!"
Goku roared again. The energy swelling around him expanded further. Arcs of bio-electricity crackled across his body clear indicators of the transition to Super Saiyan 2. His hair stood up more rigidly, and though the change from Super Saiyan wasn't dramatic visually, the raw power was undeniable.
"Incredible!" Gohan said in awe, energy rushing through him just witnessing it.
"Tch… Kakarot has surpassed me again!" Vegeta clenched his fists. "That's the Super Saiyan Two form. I've seen Li Xu use it before."
"No. 16, can you beat him now?" Android 17 asked, swallowing hard. Goku's ki felt heavier, more explosive, and utterly overwhelming.
"No. I can't," No. 16 said bluntly. While his power level was around 600–700 million, just above Super Android 13's original form, he was still outmatched by Super Saiyan 2 Goku.
"Son Goku's strength is completely outside of the data we were programmed with," Android 18 added. Their neural cores still used combat info gathered by Dr. Gero years ago, long before the Cell Games or Majin Buu-level threats.
"If Li Xu is stronger than this Goku…" No. 17 muttered, his voice tight. "Then we've never even stood a chance."
"I can't read Li Xu's full power," No. 16 admitted. "It's hidden controlled. That makes him even more dangerous."
Goku cracked his neck and rolled his shoulders. "Just achieved this breakthrough recently. Still getting used to it," he said, smiling at Super Android 13. "Sorry to keep you waiting."
Without warning, he blitzed forward.
BOOM!
Goku's fist smashed into Super Android 13's chest with a thunderous crack, sending the blue-skinned giant skidding backward. The android's boots tore trenches in the earth before he crashed hard into a distant mountain slope.
BOOM! The ground trembled violently from the impact.
"Damn it!" Dr. Gero shouted, rage and panic creeping into his voice. "Even Super 13 can't overpower him?!"
He had been certain that this fusion form would crush Goku. But now the tide was turning once more.
A bead of sweat trickled down his temple. Escape was now the only option. He would retreat, hide, and engineer a newer, deadlier android. One that could finally eliminate Son Goku.
