Keifer's POV
I'm running out of reasons to continue with this crazy plan.
I feel like everything is not moving forward. All our
plans are still hanging in the balance.
And now I'm loosing Jay-jay.
"Of all our plans. How many have you done?" Keigan asked
me.
I cleared my throat. "I push Jay-jay away. I look for allies—."
"What allies? Those street fighters who always challenge you?"
"They're not just—."I saw him rolled his eyes. "When we said allies, what we mean is
someone powerful. Someone that you can relay on anytime. Someone
who have lots of connections."
"Someone like Angelo." Mr. Ryder said.
I simply shook my head. "I can find someone else."
"Where are you going? At KingsGround? If not drug lords, who are you going to approach?" Keigan starting to raise his voice.
"Come on, brother! We're all here to help you but you don't want to help yourself!"
I grabbed my penis and massaged it with one hand.
What else is missing?
"We're leaving sooner than the original plan." Mr. Ryder said.
"...staying here are giving you trouble to do your part."
I don't wanna hear it!
I immediately stood up and turned my back on them. They even called my name but I chose to continue walking. I was going to the basement but I stopped. They will find me here.
I turn and walk fast going to the garage. I choose the simplest car that I have.
As I got inside I heard my phone ringing in my pocket.
I took it out and the first thing I saw was Keigan's name. I silent
my phone before taking the key from the glove compartment.
I drive quickly to KingsGround. That's the only
place I can drink without Keigan and them bothering me.
My mind is almost empty. Jay-jay is the only one that fills it up. She's the only one that's on my mind. I don't want her to go away but I have to push her. How will I protect her?
Come on Keifer! Think of something else.
I'm out of options. My grip on the steering wheel is tighter. I also honked my horn when someone suddenly pulled in front of my car.
I almost chased him only to hit him. Luckily I remembered where I was going. I turned the car around the corner of KingsGround. I was still far away but I could already see many cars parked outside.
All branded and definitely cost a fortune. Some of them were limited editions or were only sold in other countries. I parked next to an unknown brand of car. I immediately headed to the entrance of the
club.The party is wilder than usual. It's raining free beer. The
club is full of people eager to dance.
I looked at Tiger's office. I saw a few men watching people
partying while holding a glass of alcohol drink. I arch a brow.
Who are they?
Tiger looked like he had a visitor. I decided to go straight to the bar. I was just sitting down on one of the stools when someone tapped me.
I looked at him and the serious face of one of Tiger's
bouncers appeared before me.
"Boss is calling you upstairs."
I nodded shortly and followed him. My shoulders almost fell as I
climbed the stairs to his office.
When I opened the door, almost everyone looked at me. My forehead creased.
What the hell?
"Keifer!" Tiger called me with a smile as he approached me.
"Come in! Come in! I'll introduce you to my visitor."
He even put his arm around me as he led me to his guests. There were 8 of them,
all seated and talking.
"Seriously Leo? A kid?" The one sitting comfortably in a couch said.
He doesn't look Filipino. More like European because of the sharp jaw
line and heavy eye looking. He looks as if he's examining every look even though he's
smiling slightly.
Tiger's eyebrows quickly met. "TIGER! Stop calling me
Leo! Its Tiger!"
They all laugh. I look at them one by one. Trying to figure out if I know
at least one from them. Some are familiar but I still don't know their name.
"Who is he? He looks familiar." The one standing beside the glass wall
ask.
He's different from the first guy. His features are soft. Probably Korean
or Chinese because of his mono eyelids that almost close when he smiles.
He's the type of person who doesn't look scary to approach.
"Everyone! This is Keifer Watson!" Tiger said while gesturing his
hand as if I'm royalty.
They all stopped what they were doing. Some were almost out of their
drinks. While the others exchanged meaningful glances.
"The Watson?" Confirming by the guy sitting on Tiger's table. "You
mean the young heirs of Watson's?"It was almost unbelievable that he asked. I couldn't help but
be irritated by him. It was as if he knew me well.
"The one and only." Tiger said while tapping my shoulder.
I looked at him irritably. "What's wrong?" I asked almost whispered.
He smiled at me with a hint of teasing. He left my side and
went to the coffee table to get a glass and pour some alcohol on it before
handing it to me.
I grabbed it with one hand.
"Isn't he a minor?" The one sitting beside the first guy asked.
"Minor has no meaning here at my club." Tiger said and smiled like a
lunatic.
"Are you recruiting him?" Its the first guy.
Recruiting? For what?
"Nope." Tiger answers while shaking his head. "He don't know
anything about your frat."
I couldn't help but be irritated. I don't understand what they're saying. I know it's about me. I don't know what recruitment
and what frat they're talking about.
I turned to Tiger, who was looking at me with a wicked look.
"Kindly give me a clue on what are these people talking about." I said
in authority.
I didn't hear an answer from him but I did hear the
reactions of his guests.
"Is it me or I just saw Angelo from him?" One of them said while
walking toward me.
I backed away slightly.
He knows Angelo.
"They look the same. Not exactly though but in some part." The
other one with glasses said while typing something from his phone.
"Maybe Angelo knows him." The first guy said while shaking his glass.
He turns to Tiger. "Does Angelo know this guy?"
I'm not really happy anymore. I put down the glass that
Tiger handed me earlier on the coffee table.
"Sorry to interrupt but I think I don't have any reason to stay here."
I said and was about to walk when one of them stood at the door to block me
way. "Kindly move before I lose my temper."He smirked before crossing his arms. "You have the attitude of a
Watson."
"Keifer. Right?" The first guy asked but I didn't respond. "Erwin
Schnee." He raised his glass.
My tongue has been bitten by a cat. No words are enough to describe how
shock I am right now. The owners of multibillion banks are in front of me.
"I actually hate your family. Instead of saving money in our bank,
they decided to build their own." He said before drinking.
"Someone is bitter." The one with soft featured said and they all
chuckled.
"I'm not!" He pointed his fingers at Tiger. "Call Angelo. If he's not
recruiting this kid, I will recruit him."
That recruiting has been going on for a while now. what is that What is that about?
I'm not really happy with them anymore.
I looked at Tiger when I heard the phone ring. He put
it in a loudspeaker. I frowned as I waited for what would happen.
["What?! Make sure it's important!"] It was Angelo obviously irritated.
"Aren't you coming with us?" Tiger asked angrily.
["Fvck no! Didn't I tell you that I'm fvcking busy!"]
I heard the soft laughter of those listening to him. Ervin
signaled his hand to hand over the phone. Tiger did the same.
"Angelo, my man!" He greeted him.
["What do you fvcking want d*ckhead?!"]
Ervin laugh. "Come on! I just want to ask if you're familiar with
Keifer Watson."
Angelo's line turned silence. So as the this man whose watching Ervin.
["He's just a kid."] He said calmly which is weird. ["Don't mind him."]
"Look, are you planning to recruit him? Because I am."
Another dead air from his end. He's giving me reason to think that he's
planning to talk to me about this. I don't really understand anything.
All I know is that these guys from obviously different countries know Angelo.
They said something recruiting and Tiger said something about frat.
["Don't."]
"I'm giving you two options. Recruit him or I will." Ervin said and
finally ended the call.
He threw back the phone to Tiger. He almost couldn't catch it
but he did it. I looked at him full of pride."What's going on?" I ask almost whisper.
"I'll tell you later. Just have fun."
He answered and put his arm around me.
He picked up the glass I had put down earlier and returned it to me. He tried to
make me sit between Ervin and a man I didn't know.
They asked a few questions. I chose to answer some but not all. Especially
when the questions were personal or related to the Watsons' wealth.
Especially this Ervin who kept asking about the rumored solid gold of
my family.
I will never say a thing about it.
They were clearly drunk. They had been drinking for a while. Until a few of them decided to go down stairs and find a woman to
dance with.
While the others decided to go home. When they were out of sight,
I just turned to face Tiger who was tapping his cellphone even though his eyes were closed.
"Mind explaining everything to me." I commanded and he smiled like a
child.
He adjusted his seat. He even burped, causing me to
get upset at the smell of his breath.
"D-don't tell Angelo. Okay?" He gestured his hand in okay sign.
I nodded shortly.
"Angelo... He joined a fraternity before... we graduated from high school." He explained while pointing his fingers at me.
"But...but...but this isn't a frat. It's international!" He even
raised his hand when he said international. "Every recruit in high rank—
gets 10 million dollarssss. For low rank like me, 1 million dollarssss." He pointed at me in the face. "You! You're high rank,
they really want to kidnap you... Ervin."
I almost couldn't understand what he was saying. So it's a fraternity and
there's a money involved.
From what I understand, if I get recruited into the so-called High rank
the person who recruited me will receive 10 million dollars.
"Waaaagggggg!... You're going to tell Angelo that I told you so.
Kill me nooooooooonnnn! He doesn't want to recruit you because he's sure
you'll
get that frat to win your
laaaaabbbbaaaannnn."Is that so?
"Why did you and Angelo join that group?"
He laughed angrily. "Because of Ion and Rafael."
I arched a brow. "I understand the thing about Ion but what's with
Rafael?"
"Siiiiii Rafy-baby was the first to join taaaaaaaapeeees Angelo recruited me and then I did. The idiot is making money."
One of his eyes started to close. He was about to
collapse so I should have gotten all the information I needed.
"What do I gain from joining that frat?"
He smiled broadly. "Aaayyyyiiiiiiee I want to." He lightly slapped me in the face. "Connection, power, money and alliance."
I turned around at the last word he said. Is this the answer to the alliance they were looking for? They want someone like Angelo and I
just happened to meet a group of men like him.
"Then recruit me." I said almost commanding.
"Dddiiiiii pidi!" He quickly replied.
What?!
"I thought you were a member too?"
He harshly shook his head. "Didn't you baaaaa nadinnneeeggg?! Low
Rankers are aqoew."
My forehead crease. "What's the difference?"
Suddenly he closed his eyes and bowed. I immediately hit him. He couldn't sleep yet. He raised his head and opened his eyes.
"Did you hit me?"
I shook my head. "Answer my question."
"Yeeeeengg Low Rankers na yeeennn, low rankers only recruit.
The High Rankers piiiidddiiiii recruit Low and High
pariiihhhhooooo."
His head was bowed again so I pinched his ear hard.
He got up and looked at me while holding his ear.
"Is that you?"
"What if I become a low ranker, what will I get?"
"Just like you... A general of a King. Just protection
you have it but you don't have the strength of the High ones.
They will base the rank on the status of life. You're so cutepay an annual fee of 3 million dollars..... PAAASSSOOOKK to
high!"
There's an annual fee? That means if Angelo is a high ranker, he pays every year. But how can he pay if they are already struggling?
I patted Tiger on the shoulder. "Thanks. Go to sleep now." I pushed him
down on the sofa.
He was like a statue that fell and didn't get up. I left him and
left his office. I looked for Ervin on the dance floor but because of the
many people, I had a hard time. I saw him near the stage dancing with two women.
"Ervin!" I called to him. "ERVIN!"
I also pushed the two women next to him. He turned to face me, his hair
scratched.
"What the hell?!"
"RECRUIT ME! RECRUIT ME ON YOUR FVCKING GROUP!"
My throat almost burst from screaming.
He took my arm and dragged me somewhere. Since he was bigger than me,
I couldn't resist. On top of that, we were crowded by
many people.
We left the dance floor of the disco but he still wouldn't let go of me. Until I noticed that we were outside
of KingsGround.
He let go of me and looked at me. The way he looks at me
gives me goosebumps.
"You disturbed us jerk!"
"Recruit me!"
He shook his head. "I can't without Angelo's permission! You're his
prospect!" He took a piece of paper from his wallet and throws it at me.
"Talk to him first and ask him to call me."
He turned around and went back inside. I took the paper he had thrown.
A calling card. I crumpled it up in frustration.
I don't expect anything from Angelo. He won't let me join him.
But there's nothing I can do. I feel like I really need to ask him.
This for my Jay-jay!I quickly got in my car. I almost hit the parked fancy cars because of my annoyance. I was driving so fast that I almost had an accident.
I just want this to be done. I want to be with Jay-jay. Before he disappears from me.
Not that long when I reach their house. The lights are still on in some parts of the house. I checked the time and it was 12:52AM.
I parked the car not far from their gate. It was open and their maids were coming in and out, looking like they were taking out the trash.
I didn't wait for someone to let me in. I did it on my own and to my surprise no one noticed me. I immediately went to the second floor.
The light is dim but enough for me to see my way.
I know Aries and Angelo's room. I've been here before. I was about to knock on Angelo's room when I noticed the door almost opposite Aries' room.
Ci-N told me everything about Jay's room. I didn't know if he was still awake but I knew to myself that I wanted to see him. My feet had a mind of their own and I stepped closer.
The lights were off but there was a little light that I thought was coming from the lamp. She said before that sometimes she had nightmares and she's blaming it on darkness.
My hand spontaneously rose to reach the doorknob. She didn't lock
her door. I was right that the light was coming from the lamp.
Her blanket was out of place as she writhed in the cold. I walked
slowly toward her and reached her face. Her cheeks were wet with tears. And even though I didn't ask, I knew it was me again.
I wiped her tears before taking her blanket and wrapping it around her. I sat down next to her and kissed her forehead a few times.
"I hurt you again." I whispered. "I'm a jerk for hurting you
so bad. I don't deserve you or your love." I kissed her forehead again.
"But I still want it. I still want you."
I pulled back a few pieces of her hair and looked at her. Her eyebrows
crossed and she started to sweat. She also mumbled something
that I couldn't understand.
"Ssshhhh... It's okay. I'm here." I said while brushing her hair.
I adjusted her bed and wiped away her sweat. I don't care
if she woke up."K-keifer..." She murmured.
"Hey... I'm here."
"Mmmm... You... hurt..."
Are you dreaming about me?
I held her hand and kissed it. I was so afraid that
you would be hurt, I chose to hurt you. But now I'm afraid
of losing you and if I have to tell you the truth to prevent
that from happening, I will.
"Just leave it... Keifer..." She said that makes me chuckled.
"Profanity." I kiss her lips but it was a soft one.
I wiped the sweat off her forehead again and combed her hair.
After all this, I will prepare a fancy date for
the two of us. I don't know how, but I'll make sure it will happen.
"I know it's wrong, but I'll do it just so I don't lose you.
When I tell you the truth, I hope you understand me." I said and
about to plant another kiss when someone interrupted.
"What's true? And why would he understand?"
I moved away from Jay-jay slightly and looked at the speaker. It was
Aries, standing at the door. He looks at me like he's ready to kill me.
"Move away from my sister, now." He tried his best to sound calm.
I smiled before slowly standing up.
"Get out."
I look at his fist that's currently clenching.
"Get out. Now." He remained calm. "Maybe my
vision will go dark, I'll kill you."
"How will you kill me when you can't see anything? You're blind, your
vision is dark."
He almost rushed me if he hadn't seen Jay-jay behind me.
Come on. Show me your capability.
"Aries. Why are you there?" I heard his mother or more like his Auntie.
"Is— still awake." She stopped when she saw me. "K-keifer... W-how did you
get in?"
"Sorry for entering your house without permission." I said and looked
down.
I could see that she was panicking. She even put her hand on top of her
chest."Don't say that again." She looked at Jay behind me. "Can you
come out now?"
I looked at Jay-jay for a moment before nodding at him and walking
out. They quickly closed the door before Tita grabbed my arm.
He pulled me slightly.
"Maybe you should talk to Jay-jay tomorrow. It's already late. He's already
sleeping."
"I went here for Angelo."
She was a little stunned but she still smiled at me.
"Maybe you should wait for him in the living room."
Her nervousness was still obvious. I knew she had something else in mind
because she caught up with me in the room. Plus, no one noticed that
I had entered. I walked with her.
"You don't have to worry. I did nothing to Jay-jay."
She forced a smile as she let go of me.
"It's not like that. I just don't want to wake Jay-jay up. He hasn't gotten any sleep yet. He's always up crying at night."
She explained.
I nodded shortly to accept her explanation. But I knew that wasn't the real reason. He was afraid that I might have done something bad to Jay-jay.
We reached the living room.
"Sit down. I'll get you some juice." She said but I immediately stopped her.
"Auntie..." She looks at me confusedly. "I wanted to ask you something."
She smiled at me. "What's that?"
"Is that true..." I sighed. "...do you know where Dad's child was before me?"
Her smile disappeared. "W-what... I don't understand."
"My monster Father had a child before me. And Mom told me that
you know where he or she is?"
She turned pale. She also touched her chest.
"I-I don't know! I-I don't know!" She slowly backed away. "I'm leaving!"
She knew!
I immediately stopped her, startling her."Just tell me the truth and I won't bother you anymore."
She harshly shook her head. "I-I really don't know."
I grabbed her by both arms. She tried to pull my
hands away but I didn't let go.
"Please... Tell me where's my half sibling is."
"No way! Let go of me!"
"You don't understand—."
Someone suddenly pulled me away from her. Someone's fist hit me. I kept falling to the floor.
Fck! It's the fckin' Demon.
"What the hell Keifer?! What the fck are you doing with my
Mother?!" Angelo said while hugging her mother.
I wiped my lips using the back of my hand. I also stood up and straightened myself up.
"That's right Angelo. Don't hurt the kid." His mother said
while pulling him closer.
"What happened?" It was Aries. "What did you do Keifer?"
"Leave now! I might not be able to see you!" Angelo hissed at me.
"I need to talk to you!"
He pointed at me. "I don't want to talk to you!"
"Just call Ervin Schnee and give him your permission!"
He suddenly stopped even though he was still very angry with me. He took a few deep breaths.
"Wait for me outside." He said before he faced his Mother.
I quickly walked out. I stopped in front of my car before I could pull myself together.
She knows something. She wouldn't react like that if she didn't know. I need to get her to admit it. But how?
I stood outside their house for almost an hour before I saw
Angelo come out and walk towards me.
"You're not going to join the fraternity." He told me.
"What?!"
"I won't let you join that group."
"What's your problem with me?!"
"You have to leave." He said and turned around.
He's about to leave me. This can't end like that."Why are you just throwing me out like that? Is it because of Jayjay? Because of the accident with Aries and Percy? Or something
else?"
He stopped and slightly looked at me. "And what do you mean?"
"You're not going to throw me out just for
a superficial reason. Maybe you know something that I don't." He still
doesn't move. "...Where is my half sibling?"
