"You sure we're going the right way, Annabeth?" Thalia said, glancing sideways as she watched Annabeth intensely studying a map.
"Of course I'm sure, Thalia. We're only about six miles away from Magnolia. We'll be there soon," Annabeth said without looking up.
"So, Milicas, you're a demon right? What's that like?" Percy asked, attempting some small talk as they walked.
"I don't know. What's it like being a demigod?" Milicas said with a casual shrug.
"Weird, dangerous, and lots of things trying to kill me," Percy answered immediately.
"Oh. So it's the same, then," Milicas said in surprise.
"I guess. Also, do you guys hear that?" Percy said suddenly, slowing and looking around.
The other three paused and began scanning their surroundings, eyes narrowing. The forest was quiet.
Then, slowly, they all looked up.
A blond boy in black and green robes was falling from the sky, screaming at the top of his lungs until he crashed directly onto Percy.
The boy groaned, sprawled across Percy, and said, "I have been falling for thirty minutes."
Then he looked down at the boy beneath him and frowned.
"Potter, why are you here?"
"Name's Percy, not Potter, and could you get off me?" Percy said with a strained groan.
"Oh, yes, of course. My apologies," Draco said quickly as he stood up and offered Percy a hand, pulling him to his feet.
He dusted himself off, straightened his robes with practiced precision, and said, "Draco Malfoy. A pleasure to meet each of you. Now, where exactly are we?"
"I'm Annabeth Chase," Annabeth said, folding up her map slightly.
"I'm Thalia Grace," Thalia said.
"I'm Milicas Gremory," Milicas added calmly.
"I'm Percy Jackson, and it's complicated," Percy said, rubbing his back.
Just then, a letter drifted down from above and landed squarely on Annabeth's map.
She caught it before it slid off and opened it, scanning the contents before reading aloud.
"Dear Demigods and devil, the late addition to your group is Draco Malfoy, a young wizard in need of some direction in his life, so he's been sent to tag along on your adventures. And in a sense of fairness, I've granted him portal magic and changed his unique magic to simply allow him to tell friend from foe. Sincerely, Tet. P.S. The information should be entering his mind right about now."
Right on cue, Draco stiffened.
"Ow, bloody hell, that hurts," Draco said, grabbing his in pain.
He blinked rapidly, then straightened.
"Well, I know what portal magic is now," Draco said with a slight chuckle, still rubbing his temple.
"Cool. Can you open a portal to Magnolia?" Percy asked hopefully.
"Afraid not, mate. I can only open portals to a place I can visualize, and I've never been to Magnolia, whatever that is," Draco informed them.
"It's the home of a wizard guild we're joining," Thalia said with a shrug.
"I beg your pardon, a what?" Draco asked, staring at them in disbelief.
"We'll tell you on the way," Milicas said simply as the five of them resumed their journey down the path.
--------
As the five arrived in Magnolia, they stopped a few pedestrians to ask for directions to the Fairy Tail guild. It didn't take long to find it. The building loomed ahead of them, loud even from the outside.
"So this is it, huh? Once inside, we start our lives as wizard mercenaries. Well, is anyone as excited as I am?" Draco said with a wide grin, practically bouncing on his heels.
"Oh, I definitely am," Thalia said, already striding forward and pushing the massive doors open without hesitation.
What greeted them was absolute chaos.
The guild's wizards were fully engaged in a brawl. Shattered tables and chairs lay scattered across the ground while fists and dust flew everywhere. Someone was being hurled across the room. Laughter mixed with shouting. It was less an organization and more a battlefield with a bar.
At said bar, a woman with long brown hair and brown eyes, wearing nothing but pants and a blue bikini top, casually sat drinking straight from a barrel of wine as though the destruction around her were background noise. Behind the counter stood another woman with long white hair and blue eyes, dressed in a red outfit, smiling sweetly as if nothing unusual was happening at all.
"So is this normal for wizards, Draco?" Milicas asked in surprise, staring at the flying furniture.
"No. No, it's not," Draco said, equally shocked, eyes wide.
"Well, I love it already," Thalia said with a feral grin.
"You would," Annabeth said dryly, staring at her.
"Hey, Annabeth, aren't some of these people on those cards you have?" Percy asked, squinting at a few familiar faces mid-fight.
"Shhhh. Don't talk about those here. I'll be embarrassed if they find out," Annabeth said quickly, her face heating.
"Well, we can't stand at the entrance. Let's go sign up, shall we?" Draco said, finally snapping out of his daze and stepping forward with renewed composure.
"Hello and welcome to the Fairy Tail guild. My name's Mirajane. How may I help you?" Mirajane said with a polite, radiant smile that didn't falter despite the chair that crashed into the wall behind her.
"We'd like to join," Thalia said immediately.
"All five of you?" Mirajane asked, looking the group over with interest.
"Yep," Thalia confirmed confidently.
"Okay then, just making sure. Where do you want your guild marks, and what color do you want?" Mirajane asked pleasantly.
"Blue, and I'll take it on my back," Percy said without hesitation.
"Silver, and I'll take it on my left wrist, please," Annabeth said.
"Crimson, and on my shoulder," Milicas said calmly.
"Grey, and on my bicep," Thalia said, flexing her arm with a grin.
"Emerald, and on my forearm," Draco said, oddly pleased to see something other than the Dark Mark going on his arm.
-------
After that, the five of them got roped into helping with cleaning and repairs. During the process, Draco calmly pulled out his wand and began casting reparo, making furniture, glasses, and even holes in the walls and floor mend themselves as if there had never been anything wrong in the first place. Wood knit together seamlessly, cracks vanished, and shattered glass reformed with delicate chimes.
One by one, members of the guild stopped cleaning and simply stared at him in open awe.
Then, without warning, someone leaped onto Draco's back and exclaimed, "Kid, I'll give you anything to teach me that spell!" as he shook Draco back and forth enthusiastically.
"Master, that's no way to treat a new member," Mirajane said gently but firmly as she pulled the small old man off Draco.
"Right, sorry. My name is Makarov, and I'm the master of this guild. Pleased to meet you, kids. Now, about that spell," Makarov said, eyes practically sparkling as he stared at Draco.
"It's just a basic repairing charm. I don't mind showing a few people how to do it," Draco said, straightening his robes and shaking off his daze.
A while later, Makarov had forcibly seated the guild members in something resembling order while Draco stood at the center, carefully explaining the spell. To Draco's shock, a few of them actually managed to learn it.
After rejoining Percy and the others at their table, Draco let out a long sigh.
"First day, and I'm teaching first-year magic to people I just met. Please tell me it's not going to be a thing."
"Ah, chin up. We already found a couple of jobs, and we leave in the morning," Thalia said cheerfully.
"A couple?" Draco asked, one eyebrow rising.
"Yeah. Thanks to your portal magic, we can take two jobs that are close together and then portal back home, so taking on multiple jobs won't be a burden," Annabeth explained.
"Ah, good point," Draco said in understanding.
Just then, as he noticed Mirajane about to clean the table next to them, he casually pointed his wand and said, "Scourgify."
In an instant, the table became so clean it practically shone, gleaming in the light.
Draco slowly became aware of the silence.
He looked around to see the entire guild staring at him.
"I think it's time for another class," Makarov announced excitedly as he dragged a helpless Draco back to the center of the room.
