Chapter 94 - Chapter 94: Power Crush. Defeating Hun Tu Barehanded

The oppressive silence of the heavens was broken only by the echoing of chains clashing together. The two demon saints of the Soul Clan had already surrounded Hun Miesheng. They stood like executioners ready to deliver judgment. One was Hun Tu broad and towerlike his body wrapped with chains like a walking fortress. The other was Hun Jing thin and scarred his face cold and twisted. Both radiated killing intent that blanketed the entire wilderness.

Hun Tu crossed his arms before his chest and gave a low laugh that sent shivers through the void. The black chains floating around him rattled like vipers ready to strike. His eyes glowed with hunger and bloodlust. "Hun Miesheng" he said "we can give you a single path to survival. Hand over the items to the clan. You may continue to hold the position of master of the Soul Hall. What do you think of that offer."

Hun Miesheng's face was calm as still water. He gave a small laugh. "I think nothing of it." His eyes shone faintly. "Besides if you came seeking the Tou She Ancient Jade then I must disappoint you. I do not have it."

He spread his hands as if indifferent. "If you doubt me you are free to search my body yourself."

The way he spoke was careless and casual. His expression did not show the slightest ripple of fear or deception. The words were indeed truth. His connection with the two spirit puppets was not the same as ordinary constructs. They possessed their own independent awareness almost like separate lives. He had merely injected soul force into them to form personality and planted absolute commands deep within them. A master and servant contract of souls connected them. Through that bond he could sense their life or death yet not always the details of their deeds.

So whether those two puppets had succeeded in retrieving the Tou She Ancient Jade even he did not know.

Hun Tu narrowed his eyes. "The two puppets that appeared upon the mountain peak of Falling Abyss. They were yours were they not."

Hun Miesheng allowed a faint smile and nodded openly. "Yes they were mine."

Hun Tu and Hun Jing exchanged a glance with surprise. They had not expected him to admit it so cleanly.

Hun Jing spoke in a low tone. "Then there is no mistake. Even if the jade is not now upon your body you surely know its whereabouts. No one else could command such puppets or send them beyond the ancient clan's sealed formation."

Hun Miesheng's gaze flickered for a brief instant. In that moment he realized that the puppets must indeed have succeeded. The boundary breaking talisman would have carried the jade back to his main hall. If so then this battle had already earned him great gain. He had seized both the Tou She Ancient Jade and the Golden Emperor Burning Sky Flame. The villainous value he had expended had been worth the price.

The sky turned darker still as countless black chains whirled in vast circles. Shadows of ghosts poured out from the rolling clouds above filling the heavens with their wails. The entire domain was sealed in a prison of darkness.

Hun Tu stepped forward. His voice was colder than ice. "The Tou She Ancient Jade the miraculous talisman the puppets with living will. You will hand them all over to me. Perhaps then we will spare your life. You may still remain as master of the Soul Hall."

His chains rattled as he spoke his bloodthirst obvious. "Otherwise we shall condemn you for betraying the clan. The punishment will be soul extraction and refinement. A taste far worse than death."

As he finished speaking Hun Tu raised one palm. A vague soul body appeared within his grasp. Its face was blurred its aura fading. With a cruel laugh Hun Tu swallowed it whole into his belly. He licked his lips his scarlet eyes glimmering. "They say your soul force has reached the peak of the Heavenly Realm. I wonder what flavor such a powerful soul body will have. I intend to find out."

Hun Miesheng only gave another laugh. "How greedy you are." His gaze wandered lazily across the countless phantoms filling the air then settled upon Hun Tu and Hun Jing. "Tell me only two of the four demon saints have come."

Hun Tu sneered. "To deal with you our coming is already more than enough. You should consider it an honor."

The two exchanged a glance and both began to laugh coldly. Hun Jing's sleeve flicked outward. A chain darted from the void like a venomous serpent striking silently at Hun Miesheng's back.

The chain tore through the space behind him its tip sharp enough to pierce mountains. It sought to transfix his body in a single blow.

But Hun Miesheng's voice carried quiet amusement. "If this is but a probe then such a crude method is unnecessary."

His hand stretched backward casually. His long fingers gripped the black chain as though holding a twig. With a faint squeeze his strength crushed the chain into fragments. The sound of shattering rang sharp in the air. Dust fell from his palm as he clapped his hands lazily. He looked at the two demon saints with indifference.

Hun Jing's face hardened. He raised his hands again and the heavens roared. Countless black chains gathered twisting together in midair. They spiraled and fused into the form of a colossal dragon. Its scales were made from linked chains its eyes glowing with baleful light. The dragon let out a roar of grinding metal and rushed toward Hun Miesheng.

Where the dragon passed the space itself trembled on the edge of collapse. The force was terrifying enough to crush a mountain range.

Hun Miesheng only shook his head. His figure blurred and vanished. In the next instant he appeared above the dragon's head. Both of his hands pressed together and closed around its skull.

"Stop here."

His voice was calm. His arms tightened. Power erupted from his body. The hundred meter long dragon was forced down against the empty sky. Its advance halted completely. No matter how it writhed it could not move forward.

Hun Jing's pupils contracted. His face betrayed disbelief. That strike had carried the full force of his skill. Yet Hun Miesheng had subdued it by sheer physical strength alone.

Hun Tu's eyes lit with warlike flame. "Interesting. Do you wish to compete in strength. Then let me join."

He stepped forward vanishing and reappearing in a flash. His vast body towered beside the dragon's tail. His enormous palm gripped the chains tightly. Strength was his domain. Few within the Soul Clan could surpass him.

Hun Miesheng gave him a strange look then smiled. Slowly he withdrew one hand and left only the other gripping the dragon's head. "So that you will not lose too miserably I will fight you with only one hand."

The words carried casual mockery.

Hun Tu's expression darkened. Rage stirred within him. Never before had someone dared to speak to him in this way. He was one of the four demon saints. Within the clan itself even patriarchs gave him respect for his unmatched physical might.

His muscles swelled like mountains his arms bulging with raw power. Energy poured into the chain dragon. The black coils rattled wildly sending wave after wave of crushing force through its length toward Hun Miesheng. Each wave was strong enough to shatter stone peaks. They surged forward like an endless tide.

The void rippled with distortion as though reality itself bowed beneath the weight.

Hun Miesheng's lips curved slightly. His body shifted. He drew back his free hand curling it into a fist. Power gathered in his knuckles.

Then his fist struck the chains.

The blow carried no thunderous sound only invisible might. Yet that force rushed down the chains in an instant. Like autumn wind sweeping away withered leaves it erased every ripple every wave. The surging tide of power dissolved into nothingness.

The chain dragon recoiled violently. The force reverberated backward. It slammed into Hun Tu with unstoppable ferocity.

The massive figure of Hun Tu was driven backward. His body struck the mountain behind him with explosive force. Stone cracked and rumbled. The mountain collapsed in a shower of boulders and dust.

The chains shattered into fragments scattering like sparks.

Hun Miesheng had not moved from his place in the sky. He stood motionless his robes fluttering lightly in the wind.

The silence that followed was deafening.

Hun Jing's eyes widened in disbelief. He had witnessed Hun Tu's strength tear apart countless foes. To be overpowered in such a direct clash was beyond comprehension.

Hun Tu rose slowly from the ruins his chest heaving his gaze burning with fury and humiliation. He had been smashed down in a single exchange while his opponent had used only one hand.

Hun Miesheng lowered his hand calmly. His voice was soft yet carried through the shattered landscape. "If this is the power of the four demon saints then the Soul Clan has grown weaker than I imagined."

The weight of his words pressed as heavily as his strength.
