Chapter 20 - The Confession

Aizen stepped inside Violet's apartment, his heart pounding as he looked around. The familiar surroundings should have put him at ease, but knowing the conversation that lay ahead kept his nerves on edge. Violet motioned for him to sit down, and they both settled on the small couch in her living room.

For a moment, neither of them spoke. The room was filled with the quiet hum of the air conditioner and the soft rustling of leaves from the open window. Aizen glanced at Violet, who was fidgeting slightly, her hands resting in her lap. He could tell she was just as nervous as he was.

Finally, Aizen took a deep breath and decided to break the silence. "Violet... there's something I've been meaning to talk to you about."

Violet looked up, her eyes wide and attentive. "What is it, Aizen?"

Aizen hesitated, searching for the right words. He didn't want to scare her or make things awkward, but he knew he couldn't keep his feelings bottled up any longer. "It's about... us," he began, his voice steady but soft. "I've noticed that things have been a bit different between us lately. I think... it's because there's something we haven't been saying."

Violet's heart raced as she listened, her mind racing through all the possibilities. She had been feeling the same way, the unspoken tension between them growing with each passing day. But hearing Aizen bring it up made her both relieved and anxious.

Aizen continued, his gaze fixed on his hands as he spoke. "Violet, I really enjoy spending time with you. Whether we're playing badminton or gaming, I feel like I can be myself around you. But lately, I've been scared... scared that maybe you don't feel the same way, and that if I say something, it might ruin what we have."

Violet's breath caught in her throat. She hadn't expected him to be so direct, but his honesty touched her deeply. She could feel her own fears bubbling up, the same doubts that had been plaguing her for weeks.

"Aizen..." she began, her voice trembling slightly. "I... I've been feeling the same way. I didn't know how to say it, and I was afraid that if I did, it would change everything. But the truth is... I care about you. A lot. And it scares me because I don't want to lose what we have."

Aizen looked up, meeting her gaze for the first time since they sat down. His eyes were filled with a mix of hope and uncertainty. "You care about me?"

Violet nodded, her cheeks flushing with emotion. "Yes, Aizen. I do. More than I realized at first. But I was too afraid to say anything because I didn't want to risk making things awkward between us."

Aizen felt a wave of relief wash over him, the tension in his chest easing. He reached out, gently taking her hand in his. "Violet... I care about you too. More than just as a friend. I've been wanting to tell you for so long, but I was scared of what might happen if you didn't feel the same way."

Violet's heart swelled as she felt his hand in hers, the warmth of his touch calming her nerves. "Aizen... I'm so glad you told me. I've been feeling the same way, and it's been eating me up inside, not knowing what you were thinking."

They sat in silence for a moment, their hands still clasped together. The unspoken words that had been hanging between them for so long had finally been voiced, and with it came a sense of peace. The fears that had kept them apart were no longer there, replaced by the comforting knowledge that their feelings were mutual.

Aizen squeezed her hand gently, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "So... what do we do now?"

Violet smiled back, her nerves finally settling. "I guess we take it one step at a time. We don't have to rush into anything. Let's just... see where things go."

Aizen nodded, feeling a sense of calm he hadn't felt in weeks. "I'd like that."

As they sat together, the awkwardness that had once filled the room dissolved, replaced by a newfound closeness. They didn't need to say anything more; the connection between them was stronger than ever.

Later that evening, as Aizen walked back to his apartment, he couldn't stop smiling. The weight that had been pressing on him for so long was gone, replaced by a lightness that made him feel like he was walking on air. He and Violet had finally faced their fears, and now, they could move forward together, wherever that path might lead.

Violet, too, felt a sense of contentment as she prepared for bed. The fear of misunderstanding had been holding her back for so long, but now that it was gone, she felt a sense of freedom. She didn't know what the future held, but for the first time in a long while, she was excited to find out.

As the days passed, Aizen and Violet continued to spend time together, but now, there was a new layer to their relationship. They still played badminton, they still gamed, but now there was an added warmth, a sense of comfort in knowing that they were both on the same page.

And as for Ryuen, he couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction as he watched his friends finally take the leap. He had always known they were meant for each other, and now, seeing them so happy together, he felt like his little matchmaking effort had been worth it.

Kei, on the other hand, remained blissfully oblivious to the entire situation, still convinced that Aizen and Violet had just been stressed out over homework. But that was okay; some things didn't need to be explained.

The story of Aizen and Violet was far from over, but for now, they were content just to enjoy each other's company, knowing that whatever came next, they would face it together.

To be continued...
