Chapter 8 - chapter seven: unregistered caller

A/N: Initialize words means, it's what the character said in their mind.

Third person POV

Ayana and the others entered the mall, and Quira's car began to drive home.

Even when she arrived home, she was still not herself. She was still in shock and couldn't believe what had happened earlier. What could his words mean? she wondered confusedly to herself.

"Ma'am, we have arrived at home," Mang Joshua reminded her, since they had been home for a while, but the Quira had not yet gotten out.

She looked at their driver and then scanned her surroundings.

"We really are here. I didn't even realise it. My mind was wandering with a million thoughts. How infuriating..."

She let out a deep sigh before getting out.

AT THE MALL. As soon as Quira's car left, Ayana immediately ran to Liam and asked him, "Do you know what your brother was talking about, Liam?"

"What?! How would I know what that crazy brother of mine us thinking? I don't know if it's true or just a joke," Liam replied, scratching his head while talking to Ayana.

"Oh dear! If I were you, I'd tell your sister to stay away from Jake! because he won't like her. Do you really believe what Jake said earlier,? given how unattractive your sister is? Dream on!" Mila's voice was theatrical and mocking as she followed Jake into the mall.

Ayana's ears burned and her blood boiled at what she heard, so she chased after the woman and grabbed her by the arm.

"You! I've had just enough of your attitude towards my sister. As if you're that beautiful! You should really stop that attitude of yours before I can't stop myself and smash that face of yours which is about to rot under all that makeup. You fake!"Ayana shouted at Mila, leaning her face closer to the woman's.

After saying this, she forcefully released her grip and stormed into the mall.

Upon entering, she saw Jake, Liam, and Dean together, standing by the entrance of the mall. She approached them sulkily."Why did you even invite that woman? She's ruining my day,!" she complained.

Dean laughed at her."What's your problem with her this time?"

She shot a glare at Jake. "You're the reason!"She shouted suddenly and pointed at Jake with an accusing glare which cause people around to stare at them. Ayana was getting even more annoyed.

She glared at those who were looking at them." What? Have you only just seen a beautiful person yelling? What are you staring at? Want me to gouge your eyes?" She asked angrily at the people looking, making them quickly avert their gaze. Some even whispered as they left.

"Oh! Liam!, you absolutely must not court her, you'll embarrass yourself every time you go out. How scandalous!"Jake teasingly said.

'Liam definitely wouldn't court her because he doesn't like girls like that, so posh." Mila said as she approached and grabbed Jake's arm.

Ayana looked over and waited for the Jake to remove his arm because she had heard him say he liked her sister. But she was disappointed when Jake just let her hold his arm. So she turned her gaze back to Liam.

Liam just laughed and approached her, putting his arm around her. "Let's go inside and enjoy ourselves. We're wasting our time here with your chattering."

Just as they were about to walk, Jake spoke up. "Who has any credit on their phone? I need to call my mum. She asked me to buy something earlier and I forgot."

"Oh no, bro! You know I'm saving up for our outing today, so I don't have any credit," Liam said to his brother.

Jake then looked at Dean. "Oh! I'm even worse, mate. I've only got enough money for fish balls. I'm about to ask you to treat me today," he replied with a grin.

Ayana was the next to be looked at. "Oh no, don't look at me, Jake! You still owe me!"

Mila smirked. "Maybe that's just your excuse because the truth is, you don't have any credit either."

Ayana was annoyed, so she took the cellphone out of her skirt pocket and threw it at Jake. "There!,so that the woman with the ugly face can be quiet. She's so loud as if she has a beautiful voice!"

"What's the password?" Jake asked as he opened Ayana's cellphone, which had a password.

"Huh!, you'd be happy if I told you!" "Give it to me, I'll type it." Ayana snatched the cellphone back and typed in her password herself. Then she returned it to Jake.

Jake then opened his own cellphone and pressed some buttons on Ayana's phone and then back to his. They waited for Jake to call, but it didn't happen. After a few more presses of the two phones, he returned the cellphone to her.

They were puzzled, prompting Ayana to ask Jake. "Oh! I thought you were going to make a call?"

"I changed my mind. I suddenly remembered what Mama told me to buy." Jake replied, ignoring Ayana's question.

"What!? Are you messing with us, man?" Ayana's blood boiled again because of Jake's antics.

"The you like Liam have a big mouth. All of you should go. I'm going home. I just remembered, I still have a project to do." Jake walked out of the mall after saying that.

Mila and Dean exchanged confused looks. "What project does Jake have to do? I don't remember having a project," Mila asked Dean in bewilderment.

" Why are you asking me when I can't remember anything either."

"Let's just go!" Liam didn't wait for anyone to respond to what he said. He pulled Ayana towards the arcade area of the mall to play.

AS SOON AS QUIRA ENTERED THEIR HOUSE, she went straight to her room to change. After getting dressed, she took her book to study. She was in the middle of solving a math problem when her cellphone rang. She picked it up and checked who was calling. She saw that the number wasn't registered, so she didn't answer.

But her cellphone keeps ringing, and since it was so distracting, she decided to answer it. "Hello?" she said as she finally picked up the phone.

"Hi!" a man said on the other end. Quira's heart raced suddenly because the voice sounded just like Jake's.

"W.Who is this?W-what do you need?" she stammered, feeling nervous.

"Is this Angel's number?" the man asked in return.

Quira breathed a sigh of relief when the man said that.

They just have the same voice . She thought

"You got the wrong number. My name isn't Angel."

" Is that so? What's your name then?"He asked her curiously.

She hesitated whether to reveal her name when he spoke again." I'm Lance. Lance Valdemor."

"Oh, uh, okay. Sorry, I don't usually share my name with just anyone."Quira said.

"That's fine. I'll just call you Angel." Lance responded.

"H-huh?why Angel? I'm not even pretty."She protested, shy about being called Angel.

"You're beautiful. It's obvious from your voice."Quira laughed at what the man said, as she thought about how many have died from thinking wrong.

Since that day, they always called each other. It took about a month for her to warm up to him. He was kind and good at giving advice on things she was confused about, so he became her friend. She also talked to him about Jake, which puzzled her because sometimes when she's talking about jake,Lance will chuckled softly on the other sides as if he finds what Quira is saying amusing.
