His arms wrapped securely around her as though he had no intention of letting her move even an inch away.
For a long moment, neither spoke. The only sounds were the rustle of sheets and the faint calls of birds outside the balcony. Finally, Ruyi stirred, her lashes fluttering as she tilted her face up to look at him.
"You're staring again," she murmured, her voice husky from the night and morning they had shared.
His lips curved faintly. "How could I not? You look like you were painted by heaven itself… flushed, radiant, mine."
Her cheeks colored as she swatted his chest lightly. "You're impossible."
He caught her hand and kissed her knuckles, his eyes twinkling despite the huskiness of his morning voice. "Impossible for anyone else but you."
Her heart swelled so painfully sweet she had to bury her face against him. He chuckled, the sound rumbling in his chest, before shifting and sliding out of bed.
