Chapter 271 - CHAPTER 271

Analysis of Uzumaki Miyuki

Uzumaki Kushina found it difficult to accept when Chi Yu told her that Minato Namikaze had sealed half of the Nine-Tails into Naruto's body—guided by Jiraiya's prophecy.

Chi Yu paused before asking, "Kushina, do you believe in fate?"

"Fate?" Kushina blinked in surprise. "Of course not. Do you, Chi Yu? But when you were speaking with Hizashi-sama, you seemed to really dislike fatalism."

Chi Yu's expression darkened slightly. "I do dislike it. But it can't be denied that some things seem destined to happen."

"For example?" Kushina pressed.

"In time," Chi Yu said in a deep voice, "the Nine-Tails will break free from its seal. That means it escaping from Miyuki's body was inevitable—and that it would ultimately be sealed into Naruto. The old toad from Mount Myōboku wasn't wrong. Naruto… is indeed the Child of Prophecy, the savior of the future shinobi world."

Kushina opened her mouth, but before she could speak, Chi Yu added quietly, "What I'm saying may sound far-fetched. If you don't believe me, just—"

"I believe you." Kushina cut him off. Her voice was firm. "You've never lied to me, Chi Yu. If you say it's true, then I'll trust you. So tell me—can fate be changed?"

Chi Yu's lips curved into a faint smile at her unwavering trust, but his tone was serious. "Fate can be changed, but it's extremely difficult."

He knew that better than anyone. He had spent over a decade trying to change Kushina's destiny. The conditions were harsh: he had to find a substitute, Uzumaki Miyuki, and strike a deal with Danzō to barely convince both Hiruzen Sarutobi and Uzumaki Mito.

At the time, Chi Yu had even considered taking Kushina and fleeing Konoha if he couldn't change Mito's determination to make her the next jinchūriki. But looking back now, could he really have pulled it off?

The answer was no.

Back then, he lacked the strength to defy the village and protect Kushina during the pursuit that would follow. Worse, Uzumaki Mito likely saw through his intentions. It was possible she had been watching Kushina constantly with her mind's eye, ensuring she could not be taken away. For Mito, Konoha was paramount—its survival outweighed even family ties. To her, Kushina had been the best candidate for the Nine-Tails' host.

Which was why it would have been nearly impossible for Chi Yu to spirit her away.

If altering Kushina's fate had been nearly impossible, then changing Naruto's fate would be even harder. To divert prophecy itself, one would have to find another to take Naruto's place—someone who could bear the Nine-Tails and carry the burden of the Child of Prophecy.

But that was easier said than done.

Kushina let out a heavy sigh. "No wonder Miyuki looked so heartbroken earlier. This time, she must have been truly hurt. Minato's actions were simply too…" She trailed off, unable to finish.

Chi Yu said gravely, "Kushina, I suspect Miyuki may choose to leave Konoha."

Kushina froze. "Leave Konoha? Why would she do that?"

Chi Yu's thoughts drifted back to Minato. He had begun to sense a force that corrected altered events, pushing them back toward the original path. He had sealed a portion of the Nine-Tails into Miyuki, yet she had chosen to sacrifice herself with the Dead Demon Consuming Seal—repeating Minato's fate. And though Minato survived, he lingered in a coma, just as in the original timeline where Naruto grew up an orphan.

If so, then perhaps Miyuki, too, was never meant to remain in Konoha for long.

But that was too abstract to explain, so he reasoned it out for Kushina: "Miyuki loves Naruto deeply. She never wanted him to become a jinchūriki. But Minato stubbornly sealed half the Nine-Tails into him. She must be bitterly disappointed in him now."

He went on, "And Miyuki has little attachment to this village. You know how jinchūriki are treated, Kushina. Miyuki has been fortunate that the villagers never learned she carried the Nine-Tails. If they had, even as the Hokage's wife, she would have been feared, distrusted, and shunned."

"Even if their secret remains hidden this time, Miyuki may not want to take that risk for Naruto. If their identities as jinchūriki are exposed, Naruto will endure the same childhood you did—or worse, he could live under constant discrimination for the rest of his life."

Kushina's brows furrowed. "But couldn't Hiruzen and the others keep it secret?"

Chi Yu shook his head. "Unlikely. Think back to Naruto's birth. The Nine-Tails attacked the village that very night. Naruto was the only infant born then. It's only a matter of time before ignorant villagers draw the connection, and rumors spread. Some might even claim Naruto is the Nine-Tails' reincarnation."

He continued, "And then there's his parentage. He is the son of the Fourth Hokage. Many villagers resented Minato for rising to the Hokage seat so quickly. Now, with Minato in a coma and Hiruzen forced to return as Hokage, once Minato wakes, there will be conflict over the title. For Minato, having his son revealed as the Nine-Tails' host would be a devastating blow."

"At first, people might call Naruto a hero—born as the Hokage's son and carrying the Nine-Tails. But fear will always outweigh gratitude. They will worry about what happens if he loses control, or if the Nine-Tails returns. If Minato dies, what then?"

He sighed, concluding, "That is why I believe Miyuki will eventually choose to leave. She loves Naruto too much to let him grow up under such a shadow. If she stays, she will be powerless to protect him—just as she was powerless when Minato tore Naruto from her arms."

Kushina's face crumpled with sorrow. A heavy sense of helplessness washed over her as she struggled to hold back tears.
