The Battle of Goji — Yagura Karatachi
Pain and Konan stood on a tree branch, neither moving to assist Uchiha Obito in the fight. They were observers for now.
At that moment, the Fourth Mizukage, Yagura Karatachi, closed the distance.
> "Water Release: Water Dragon Bullet Technique!"
Moisture in the mist-heavy air swirled and gathered at Yagura's command, condensing into a massive, serpentine dragon of water that roared forward toward Obito.
> "Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique!"
Obito's hands flashed through seals, chakra building in his chest. He exhaled a blazing sphere of fire to meet the incoming water dragon.
The two jutsu collided with an explosive hiss, scattering into steam and a rain of fine droplets.
Before the steam could clear, Yagura used the Body Flicker Technique, reappearing behind Obito, his hooked staff swinging down in a precise arc.
Obito's body blurred and became intangible under Kamui, the weapon passing harmlessly through him.
Materializing behind Yagura, Obito swung his chained scythe in a vicious counterattack.
But Yagura turned sharply, hands forming seals mid-spin.
> "Water Release: Water Hail!"
A volley of high-speed water bullets shot toward Obito, forcing him to phase again. His attack slipped through Yagura without harm.
Landing lightly, Yagura retreated a few steps, his eyes narrowing.
> "I see… when you phase to avoid attacks, your own strikes can't connect either."
Obito smirked and began another rapid chain of seals.
> "Fire Release: Blast Wave Wild Dance!"
Space distorted around him under Kamui's influence, drawing the air into a swirling maelstrom. Obito then exhaled a spiraling stream of flame into it, merging fire with the vortex to form a colossal whirling inferno.
> "Water Release: Water Formation Wall!"
From the ground at Yagura's feet, a towering wall of water surged upward to meet the flames. Steam burst forth where they clashed, but the wall shuddered under the firestorm's force.
Sensing the barrier's imminent collapse, Yagura swiftly shifted into another jutsu.
> "Water Release: Water Severing Wave!" (corrected from non-canon "Water Column" — Yagura canonically uses this high-pressure slicing water jet)
A razor-thin torrent of water tore through the base of the flames, severing and dissipating the attack. Steam cloaked the battlefield.
From the mist, Obito's scythe lashed forward again. Yagura raised his staff to block — but the weapon passed through him once more, along with Obito's body.
Expecting a repeat of earlier tactics, Yagura spun and struck behind him while forming a seal with his free hand.
But this time, the attack came from where he wasn't looking. The scythe's chain, left trailing behind him earlier, snapped tight around his neck from the rear.
A sudden tug yanked Yagura off his feet. Obito drove a knee into his back, pinning him to the ground, the scythe blade poised at his throat.
> "It's over, Fourth Mizukage," Obito said coldly. "Be my puppet… and submit."
Yagura's tone was equally frigid.
> "You're too quick to declare victory."
A spike of chakra surged through his body. Behind him, a barbed, coral-like tail — the manifestation of the Three-Tails' power — lashed toward Obito, forcing him to phase away and freeing Yagura from the chain.
The Mizukage didn't waste the opening.
> "Water Release: Water Mirror Technique!"
From a rippling sheet of water, a perfect duplicate of Obito emerged, immediately launching the Great Fireball Technique before charging forward.
Obito phased through the flames, then warped space with Kamui, pulling the clone into his personal dimension. Yagura's brow furrowed — the mirror clone couldn't replicate that phasing.
His suspicions confirmed, Yagura deduced the ability was tied to Obito's Mangekyō Sharingan. Outnumbered and with no counter to Kamui, his options were limited.
Still, he wasn't done. Another Water Mirror rippled into being, this time birthing an imitation of Pain.
Before it could move, Pain's Shinra Tensei blasted it apart in a spray of droplets. Yagura's frown deepened — that repulsive force felt like another bloodline ability.
Undeterred, he tried again, forming a mirror to copy Konan.
The paper-wielding kunoichi tilted her head slightly in intrigue and descended to the ground. Extending her right arm, she invoked:
> "Dance of the Shikigami!"
Her limb unraveled into countless sheets of paper, forming a sharp spear she hurled toward her double. The clone mirrored her perfectly, throwing its own spear to meet hers in midair, scattering into confetti.
Konan's paper wings unfurled, lifting her into the air — her double doing the same. Sheets of chakra-hardened paper flew from both, colliding in a storm of razor edges.
Just as Yagura began to think the clone might hold its own, Konan's quiet voice rang out:
> "Explode."
The air erupted in a violent detonation, and Yagura was left momentarily stunned by the sheer efficiency with which his "ally" had been destroyed.
