Revenge
Chi Yu arrived at Kakashi Hatake's quarters.
Inside, he found Kakashi seated, clutching his left eye—his Sharingan—tightly.
"Teacher Chi Yu," Kakashi said quietly, noticing him. "You're back."
Kakashi attempted to rise, but Chi Yu placed a firm hand on his shoulder, gently pressing him back down.
Chi Yu immediately sensed something was off. Given his understanding of Kakashi, the absence of devastation in his expression meant one thing—the news hadn't reached him yet.
The death of Rin Nohara.
Chi Yu took a seat across from him and asked directly, "Orochimaru-sensei said you weren't yourself lately. What happened?"
Kakashi shook his head slowly. "It's nothing, really. A few days ago, my Sharingan suddenly started throbbing. It burned, and then I passed out. Before that… I saw something."
He paused, frowning deeply. "Fragments. Horrible images. I don't know what they were."
Chi Yu quietly picked up the kettle from the side table, poured a cup of water, and took a sip, eyes narrowing with understanding.
The stinging pain, the blood tears, and the sudden collapse—it all aligned with one explanation. Uchiha Obito had awakened the Mangekyō Sharingan.
Kakashi's Sharingan, transplanted from Obito, had responded in kind—synchronizing across space, as Mangekyō pairs do. But with Kakashi's chakra already depleted, the sudden strain had overwhelmed him.
As for the "horrible fragments"… they were likely visions of Rin's death, seen through the eyes of Obito.
Chi Yu placed the cup back on the table and spoke with quiet gravity.
"Kakashi… there's something you need to know. It's about your teammate, Rin Nohara."
Kakashi's body tensed. He stared at Chi Yu, eyes wide with dread.
Chi Yu could see it—Kakashi had already begun to suspect.
"She's dead," Chi Yu said plainly.
Kakashi went pale. His body trembled, his lips parted slightly, and his breath became ragged.
For a long moment, he said nothing.
Then, in a hoarse whisper: "How?"
Chi Yu exhaled slowly, then replied, "She was captured by Kirigakure—Hidden Mist. They sealed the Three-Tails inside her. Their plan was to use her as a living weapon—to unleash the Tailed Beast within Konoha. She chose to die by your hand to stop it."
Kakashi's right eye filled with bloodshot fury. His fists clenched tightly. "And where was Minato-sensei? He's the Yellow Flash! How could this happen under his watch?!"
Chi Yu answered calmly, "Minato was away—assigned to another front. He wasn't there."
Kakashi slumped back into his chair, defeated. He looked smaller now, younger than his years, his voice trembling.
"Chi Yu-sensei… I'm so tired. Everyone around me—my father, Obito, now Rin—they all die. What's the point of all this? What's wrong with me?"
Chi Yu looked him in the eye, his voice firm.
"Kakashi. Get up."
Kakashi blinked, not understanding.
"We're going to the Land of Water. You're not staying here to wallow in grief. We're going to Kirigakure," Chi Yu said coldly. "Revenge."
Kakashi stared. "You mean—?"
"Rin died at the hands of their manipulation. You want justice? Then take it. Slaughter ten. Slaughter a hundred if that's what it takes. But don't sit here questioning your worth."
Without waiting for approval, Chi Yu brought Kakashi to Orochimaru and requested clearance for a covert mission to Kirigakure.
Orochimaru, seeing Kakashi's broken state, didn't object.
"I'll give you fifteen days," he said simply.
That meant six days to travel there, six to return—three days to strike.
"More than enough," Chi Yu replied.

Six Days Later – Land of Water
Chi Yu and Kakashi stood at the edge of the forest overlooking the mist-covered coastline.
In the distance, veiled by fog, lay Kirigakure.
Upon entering the Land of Water, something in Kakashi shifted. The numbness was gone. What remained was pure, burning hatred.
Chi Yu turned to him, serious. "This is your vengeance, Kakashi, but I lead the mission. If things go south, I pull us out. Understood?"
"I'm angry, yes," Kakashi answered, his tone steady. "But I'm not reckless. I know exactly what I'm doing. I won't disappoint you, Chi Yu-sensei."
Chi Yu allowed himself a small smirk. "I never doubted it. One day, I'll have kids of my own. I hope you'll be their teacher."
From his pouch, Chi Yu retrieved a sealed scroll and tossed it to Kakashi. "You've been without a real blade since the White Fang's tanto broke. Use this."
Kakashi unsealed it—a high-grade ninja sword gleamed in the mist. He fastened it to his side. "Thank you."
"Let's go," Chi Yu ordered.
They moved like shadows, cutting down patrol squads as they closed in on the village.
Near the village gate, Hidden Mist shinobi spotted them. The sight of the Konoha forehead protectors triggered alarm, and they prepared for combat.
But Chi Yu was already mid-air.
"Katon: Gōka Mekkyaku!" (Fire Release: Great Fire Annihilation)
A torrent of fire erupted from his mouth, blanketing the village's outer perimeter. The attack scorched the earth, sending flames roaring across the ground in a searing tide.
Panic spread through the Hidden Mist ranks.
Ninjas poured out of the village, surrounding Chi Yu and Kakashi.
"Th-That's the Blood-Eyed Shura!"
The name rippled through the ranks. Recognition turned into morbid anticipation.
Chi Yu—the infamous Konoha shinobi who once wounded the Third Raikage—was here. With only one ally.
They had numbers. They could bleed him dry. After all, Iwagakure had brought down the Raikage with a war of attrition. Why not do the same?
They closed in, fists clenched and hearts racing.
But Kakashi and Chi Yu were already moving.
This was not a mission.
This was retribution.
