SHAPESHIFTER ZARA POV
"No," I said to the shadow beings. "Obey me. I am your true master."
The creatures stopped fighting and looked between us. They were getting more confused by the second.
"This is impossible," the real Shadow Lord said. "They should know their creator."
"Should they?" I asked. "Or are you not as powerful as you pretend?"
That hit a nerve. The real Shadow Lord's face twisted with rage.
"I'll prove who I am," he snarled. "I'll destroy you all!"
He raised his hands to cast a spell, but I was ready. I raised my hands at exactly the same time and cast the exact same spell.
Two identical blasts of shadow magic collided in the air. The blast knocked everyone backward.
"How?" the real Shadow Lord gasped.
"I told you. I can copy anyone. Even you."
"But my power comes from taking souls. You can't copy that."
"Can't I?"
I reached into my stolen shadow magic and pulled out something that made everyone gasp. A glowing ball of pure soul energy.
