KAEL POV
The healing power burned through my hands as I worked on the wounded warrior.
"Hold still," I told him, even though I could see the fear in his eyes. "This is going to hurt."
Behind me, I could hear the sounds of fighting getting closer. The Shadow Lord's army was almost here, and we were running out of time.
"Is he going to make it?" Mira asked, kneeling beside me.
I looked at the deep claw marks across the warrior's chest. They were already turning black around the edges. Shadow poison.
"I don't know," I said honestly. "The poison is spreading too fast."
That's when I felt it. A strange pulling feeling in my chest, like someone was tugging on my heart.
"Lucien?" Mira's voice sounded far away. "What's wrong?"
I looked down at my hands and gasped. They were starting to fade. I could see right through them to the ground below.
"Something's happening to me," I whispered.
Then I heard Aria's voice in my head, even though she wasn't there.
