Chapter 89 - 89

Opening the bottle, I pulled back the bottom of my helmet and started drinking.

«Hey! What are you-- What are you doing? - came a frightened woman's voice. I just waved her off and continued drinking.

After a couple seconds, I finished and said with a smile:

«Easy, blondie, I was just getting a drink. Nice one, by the way... - I licked my lips, running my eyes over her body.

My actions probably made the man angry, so he frowned and asked with a tremor in his voice:

«Wh-who are you? T-talk or I'll call the police!

I just ignored him and looked at the little guy and said:

«Hey, kid, you ever heard of Superman?

The boy shrank back and hid behind his mother. I sighed and said:

«Don't worry, I won't hurt you. You see, our engineering had a little glitch, so I came here. - I lied.

At my answer, the whole family was surprised, but their fear didn't really diminish. The man looked at me glumly and asked:

«So w-what now? Is something gonna happen to us?

I looked at the guy again and asked impatiently:

«So you know about Superman?

The guy nodded briefly, whereupon I exhaled in relief.....

Noticing my sigh, the man inquired:

«Y-you know Superman?

I scratched my chin and nodded:

«Well, you could say that. Why don't you tell me this, is this Central City?

The man nodded, whereupon I hesitated and said:

«Be careful not to spread what happened here. If you talk too much, you will only hurt yourself. If you don't want any trouble, just forget about what happened.

The man nodded nervously:

«I-I-I got it!

«Good... - I took one last look at the girl, grinned, looked out the window, and then teleported away.

I wasn't worried about them finding out about me, even if they did, it wouldn't do me any harm. If they blabbed, they would be the ones in trouble, and if they were not stupid, they would keep quiet.

After a few teleportations, I reached one of the high-rises, after which I looked around.

It's not a bad town, a lot like Central City on my world. There were some differences, though. Star Labs isn't here at all. It's a huge building, but it doesn't exist here at all. And a lot of the high-rises, too.

Well, it's not a bad town, but that's not why I'm here, I need to find National City. It doesn't exist on my land, and neither does Smallville, but it sure as hell exists here. If Superman exists, these cities must exist. All we have to do is find them.

Both lands have Central City and Gotham City. But we don't have the Joker, and neither does Batman. It's not like we don't have them here either. At least, I haven't heard about it.... The worlds are similar in many ways, but there are plenty of differences.

Traveling through the different Earths is pretty curious. There's even Atlantis on Earth-2, but it's kind of just one of the states in America, if I understood correctly. I was more interested in the monkey sanctuary there.... I have some plans for them, as well as many other creatures in that world. Thanks to Zoom, a lot of meta people have come out, which is pretty useful to me.

Hmm, okay, I'm thinking too much. I'll get to it later, but right now I need to get to National City and get a temporary safe house. I need to establish a place from which to conduct my operations, so to speak.

A few hours later.

I took off all my armor and stacked it neatly on the table. Then I turned around and breathed a sigh of relief.

The base was finally ready. It only took me a few hours to do the paperwork, put myself in the base, and get the place up and running. The simple warehouse on the outskirts of town was a little dusty, but I quickly fixed that with a breeze. Changed the locks, got a computer and a fridge full of booze. It took some fiddling with the electricity, but in the end it was all quite bearable. There's good lighting and even a place to cut up the bodies. Some of the tools I took with me, others I just bought in my alien form. I didn't loot, I didn't need the attention yet.

I didn't need a car or a gun, so that's where I left it. For work, the place would do, that's the main thing.

The warehouse is, of course, in National City. The city wasn't hard to find, a couple questions and some teleporting, and I quickly reached my desired location. It was very close to Central City, so it didn't take much time. Mostly I spent my time finding out information about the world and Supergirl.

The world was like ours, but without the meta-humans. Instead there were aliens and strangely enough, humans. The world might be like ours, but some of the technology had advanced. As a consequence, it was full of smart people who had created superweapons and stuff. Mostly nonsense. Most of them were defeated by Superman, perhaps the most dangerous of them all was Lex Luthor. He knew about Clark's Weakness, so he had an advantage. Well, he didn't look so good here, I liked Lex from the old Smallville Mysteries better, and Clark was better there....

Superman was a much better known hero than Supergirl. His enemies weren't exactly tough, though. Anyway, he was no longer a rookie, unlike the girl.

As for Kara, it's a little more interesting. First of all, she's so damn pretty, especially in that costume... Of course, I already knew that, so it's no surprise. Secondly, she's not very good at controlling her power. But she's gaining experience quickly, so it's not so bad for her, but good for me. She's already managed to defeat some pretty good opponents, which I'm also interested in.

The first one was Reactron, I only watched the first season of the series so I only made a few targets for myself in this world. This guy was one of them. His scaled down nuclear reactor was very tempting, especially to me, a man who uses radiation for amplification. If I could get my hands on that technology... Hmm, I should definitely do that.

The second was the recently beaten girl, Lywire. Unlike Blackout, who was a simple meta from my land, she was truly unique. Though these two both ran electricity, the differences were drastic. I don't know if I'm capable of taking her powers, but I'd love to test it out. Now that I have Killer Frost's powers, Laywire's powers will be even more useful. Her only weakness is water, but if I freeze her into ice, it won't be a weakness at all. That was another of the reasons why Caitlin's powers were so useful to me.
