Marcus's POV
I came home with a defeated face and a wolf ranting in pride in my head about how smart his mate is and how she would have fooled so many alphas with all the tricks up her selves.
I sighed and was walking to my room when I went my mother on the way.
"Mom" I whined like a child who lost his toy and hugged her.
"Why are you whining like you lost a toy?" Shadow asked. I can feel him judging me.
"We did lose our mate"
Mom ruffled my hair and hugged me back.
"What's wrong, kiddo?" She asked with that motherly smile.
"With him? A lot of things. Does she have the time to listen all the things that are wrong with her son? I am pretty sure she would agree with almost all of them" Shadow with a snicker.
I decided to ignore him and focus on the conversation with my mother.
"Shadow and I went for a walk by the river today and I got my mate's scent again" I can see her smile tightening "But I lost her. Our mate is smart, she kept running around the forest, so that Shadow would follow her scent and get lost in the forest. That is exactly what happened"
I didn't see my mother's reaction but I could feel a small slightly satisfied smile forming on my lips"If she is an omega, like Shadow suspects than I am sure she would be fine. I mean, I am pretty sure that we weren't the first alpha who were chasing her, though we were chasing her for a different reason than she's used to"
"I see, she must be one tough rogue" mom said that with that one paticular tight smile when they don't like something but pretend they like it anyway.
"Yeah, I hope so" I said looking around when I got the sight of Roy "Bye, Mom. I will see you later" I rushed to Roy.
"What do you want? Why are you running to him like your ass is on fire?" Roy asked with a very suspicious look on his face.
"I want to know more that rogue you were talking about a week ago in my father's office" I said dragging him away, so my mother does't hear what we were talking about.
"Why do you wanna know about it suddenly?"
"Because I am curious, now are you spilling the beans or not?"
"Fine! But let's go somewhere quieter where we have less chances of being overhead"
"Sure! Where?"
"By the river!" and he dragged by the river.
