Chapter 216 - Chapter 216: Empty-Handed Scam?

Zhang Yang let out a chuckle. This was the first time he'd ever picked one person to bully like this. Although the ones who got it the worst were definitely Bruce and Harrison, they were the ones chasing after him. They brought it on themselves, so Zhang Yang didn't feel guilty.

Right after he posted the update, media outlets from around the world picked it up and started reporting on it immediately.

"So curious how Subier will handle this. Has the Enforcement Bureau already lifted the lockdown on the estate?"

"Hahaha, milking Subier like a sheep—Kaitō Kid really nailed it!"

"Subier's such a fat sheep, even if you shear him a few more times, he won't go bald!"

"Too bad the Enforcement Bureau sealed off his estate. Otherwise, tonight would've been a show."

"Damn Victor. What's he even trying to do? Did they actually find any explosives near the estate?"

Netizens everywhere were hyped. Everyone was dying to see Subier embarrass himself again. After all, he was the one who started this challenge in the first place. Now that Zhang Yang had sent out another notice, the public saw it as pure revenge—straight-up psychological warfare.

With Kaitō Kid's new warning still targeting Subier, it was bound to draw huge attention.

At that moment, Victor, Bruce, and Harrison arrived at the estate. Enforcement Bureau agents were still blocking the perimeter, not letting anyone get close.

First, they were preparing for the upcoming arrest operation.

Second, they had to ensure absolute safety. The bomb squad was still sweeping the area, and not a single bundle of explosives could be missed.

This time, Subier was fully cooperative.

"Director Victor, however you want to secure the area, whatever your plan is, feel free to carry it out on the estate."

The moment they met, Subier was very open—almost to the point of welcoming them like VIPs.

But Victor raised his hand and shut that down right away.

"No, Mr. Subier."

"There's still time. If possible, we plan to relocate the valuables in your estate."

Hearing that, Subier froze.

He hadn't expected Victor to suggest something like that.

Thinking about all the treasures stored in his vault, Subier immediately refused.

"No. Absolutely not."

"Director Victor, I have too many items. And there's a risk of damage during transport!"

"This is way too risky. It's better to keep everything secure in the estate!"

He'd rather lose one artifact than risk damage to all of them.

It was Harrison who came up with this plan. With the time they had, it was totally doable to transfer the collection while setting up a trap inside the estate.

"Mr. Subier, we'll safely move your valuables to the Enforcement Bureau. Kaitō Kid probably won't know they're gone."

"We'll still set up defenses in the estate. Even if we fail to capture him, he won't get away with anything."

All three of them agreed this was the best approach—at least there'd be no losses.

As for the risk of damage during the transfer, they could just be extra cautious.

Subier met Harrison's firm and confident gaze. After a long moment, he finally nodded, albeit reluctantly.

"Director, I don't want any damage to my collection. You have to guarantee that."

Seeing him relent, the three men were thrilled. They nodded without hesitation.

Then Subier led them upstairs and raised his hand to open the hidden door to the vault.

As the hidden door in the wall opened, Victor and the other two were stunned.

"Mr. Subier, was the Angel's Tear also kept in this vault last night?"

After Maket was caught the previous night, Zhang Yang had taken the chance to escape. So they never made it upstairs and didn't ask Subier for the full details. Now, seeing just how well-hidden the secret door was, they were all genuinely shocked.

Subier didn't say a word. He just nodded silently.

This vault had been one of his proudest creations when it was built. Even after he issued the challenge, he'd been confident Kaitō Kid would never find it.

Subier led them inside. The vault was filled with safes—some small, some huge. The smallest was half a meter tall. The biggest ones were almost the size of a full single-door fridge.

"Gentlemen, most of my collection is stored in these safes. And these paintings too—do you plan to move all of them?"

Victor and the others stared at the room packed wall-to-wall with safes. For a moment, they didn't know what to say.

When Subier had first brought them upstairs, they had no idea what he was doing. None of them had noticed the hidden door in the wall. Now, seeing the massive collection inside, they couldn't even imagine how Kaitō Kid managed to steal the Angel's Tear from here.

After Subier opened each safe and did a full inventory check, Victor arranged for the Enforcement Bureau's specialists to come and transfer the collection back to headquarters for safekeeping.

Meanwhile, quite a few fans had already gathered nearby. But they were all kept outside the perimeter by Enforcement Bureau agents.

"Damn it! How long do they plan to keep this lockdown in place?"

"Kaitō Kid hasn't even shown up yet and they've already locked down the estate. Are they serious?"

"Fuck! Nothing's happened here at all, and they still haven't released a single official statement. The Enforcement Bureau is totally useless!"

"Do they really think they can catch Kaitō Kid just by sealing the place off? That's so dumb!"

The crowd kept whispering sarcastic jabs and complaints, though no one tried to break through the blockade.

Soon after, the transport team Victor had called showed up in vehicles and drove straight into the estate in full view of everyone. Someone recorded the scene and uploaded it online, immediately sparking debate.

"WTF? The Enforcement Bureau only sent two trucks? What kind of plan are they running tonight?"

"Oh my god! The estate's still under full lockdown. Does Kaitō Kid even have a shot?"

"A shot? No matter how tight the setup is, Kaitō Kid always finds a way."

"Hahaha, never underestimate his skill. He's full of surprises."

"Poor Subier. He's probably fully surrendered control of the operation to Victor by now."

Back at his hotel, Zhang Yang saw the footage and started to get suspicious.

The Enforcement Bureau had plenty of agents. Normally, any operation had over a hundred personnel involved. But tonight, only two trucks had arrived. Something didn't add up.

"Are Bruce and the others pulling the same trick again, trying to sneak out Subier's safes?"

They'd already pulled this move once in the Eagle Nation.

It wouldn't be surprising if they tried it again.

Zhang Yang had already mapped out every detail of Subier's estate. Given that, the first thing that came to his mind was exactly this: move the treasures to another location to tilt the odds in their favor.
