Chapter 25 - EGLM-24: Teamwork

"Don't just stand there, follow me!"

Amon interrupted Gwen's thoughts.

Gwen nodded instinctively and followed Amon quietly.

"Shh, Kingpin brought his elite squad."

"He trained these guys specifically to clear obstacles for him."

They hid behind an old, rusty shipping container. Gwen discreetly gestured towards a distance.

Following her gaze, Amon saw a group of soldiers, heavily armed, with equipment comparable to a special forces squad. They were equipped with the most advanced bulletproof helmets and vests, and even their faces were covered with bulletproof masks.

"Kingpin really has money."

Amon couldn't help but marvel. This equipment cost at least five to six hundred thousand dollars. But he had equipped almost a dozen guys with it.

"We have to be careful. These aren't like those thugs..."

Gwen stretched her limbs, carefully observing for any weaknesses. She was skilled, but that didn't mean she was invincible. These guys were specially trained, so she had to be extra cautious.

But as Gwen was speaking, the figure beside her suddenly stood up.

Amon walked out of the container, his movements bold and confident, striding towards the soldiers in the distance.

"Hey!"

Gwen whispered, her voice low. "Unicorn, what are you doing?!"

She didn't know if he could hear her with the helmet on. Walking out like that was practically suicide!

"I'm going to test out the performance of this armor."

Amon didn't look back, stretching his limbs as he walked. He had fought the thugs, but it hadn't given him any useful information. To know the true power of Kabuto, he had to play with these guys.

As soon as Amon stepped out, the elite soldiers noticed him.

"Incoming! Intruder detected!"

They didn't immediately open fire. Instead, they reported the situation cautiously. As the message spread, reinforcements were immediately dispatched from other areas. In just a few seconds, Amon was surrounded.

Facing the soldiers, Amon calmly placed his hand on the Kabuto Insect Zecter on his belt.

"Mask Form!"

He pulled the rhinoceros beetle head lever to the right.

[PUTON (Clothing)!]

The standing rhinoceros beetle rider form changed. Amon crossed his arms, and as the light on the surface of the armor flashed, steel plates covered the armor. The horn on his head retracted, becoming two forked steel horns. The sleek exterior now looked like a shield, appearing indestructible.

Amon chose this form because the Mask Form had incredibly strong defense. Even a missile hitting him directly wouldn't penetrate it.

"This looks so cool!"

Gwen peeked out from behind the container, her eyes wide with amazement. No engineering student could resist this armor. And she couldn't even figure out how he did it!

"Fire!"

The elite soldiers didn't hesitate. They pulled the triggers.

Blazing light!

Bullets poured out of the gun barrels like a hailstorm. They rained down on Amon, a barrage of bullets.

Bang, bang, bang!!!

They were trained to shoot in alternating bursts. The rapid gunfire echoed in the air, a continuous barrage, like a string of firecrackers going off.

The bullets hit Amon's Mask Form Kabuto armor, sending shards of metal flying. Sparks erupted from the surface of the armor, like fireworks in the night sky. The clang of steel echoed around them. The soldiers didn't stop firing until they saw Amon fall.

Amon, however, remained calm, observing the changes in his Kabuto Mask Form amidst the hail of bullets. The bullets felt like nothing more than tickles. The armor was incredibly thick. He considered these guys to be nothing more than desperate fools.

"This guy can actually handle these guys!"

Gwen's heart finally settled. Amon stood there like an unyielding fortress. She had clearly overestimated the situation. These guys were no match for Amon.

"My turn to perform!"

Gwen leaped out from behind the container, rolled, and quickly shot webs at the elite soldiers. The sticky webs stuck to the soldiers' masks, blocking their vision. As they scrambled to pull the webs off their masks, they were met with a white figure.

The white arc darted through the trees and obstacles, a blur of motion. Gwen moved quickly, and with Amon's cover, she swung in an arc, landing behind the enemy. With enemies in front and behind, the elite soldiers were overwhelmed.

...

...

Inside the factory.

"Leave the North Coast to me. If we work together, our business will quickly spread overseas!"

The large, bald man sat on a black couch, his suit stretched taut. He leaned on his cane with his right hand and raised his glass of wine with a sinister smile.

Click, click, click...

Just as Kingpin was about to toast with his guest, a burst of rapid gunfire erupted outside. He frowned and turned to the man standing beside him.

"Boss, there are two intruders outside!"

The man quickly pulled out his tablet and brought up the surveillance footage.

"Ghost-Spider?"

Kingpin recognized the white figure instantly. "Who's that guy in the red and silver armor? Iron Man?"

"Boss, that's not Iron Man."

The man bent down and spoke respectfully.

"Not?"

"Have Dr. activate Plan A. Take them out."

Kingpin relaxed, waving his hand dismissively. If Iron Man had shown up, the Avengers would probably be with him. But these two were just small fry. He didn't need to worry about them.

"Mr. Kingpin, is everything alright outside?"

The guest sitting opposite him was clearly nervous.

"Don't worry, it's just a minor inconvenience. I'll take care of it soon."

Kingpin grinned and raised his wine glass again.

...

...

...

Outside.

Bang, bang, bang!

Amon stood calmly in the middle of the battlefield, taking aim with his pistol. He took aim and fired. The guards fell one by one, their heads bleeding onto the ground.

"Are you a scientist?"

Gwen spun in the air and landed beside Amon. She was curious about his identity. She attended many scientific conferences, but she had no memory of this scientific achievement. She had initially thought he was a copy of Iron Man, but this was clearly a different type of armor.

"Let's go inside."

Amon didn't answer Gwen's question. He turned and walked towards the factory.

"What kind of material is your armor made of? It can't be ordinary metal, right?"

"Otherwise, it would have been broken by now! Is it vibranium?"

Gwen followed close behind, her questions incessant. She really couldn't figure out who this guy was.

Boom!

Suddenly, the factory door exploded open. Through the billowing smoke, twenty-odd strange figures emerged. Upon closer inspection, they were twenty-odd robots with a mechanical exterior and spider legs. They quickly climbed the walls, their mouths opening to reveal machine guns mounted inside.

"Kingpin's Spider-Slayers!"

Gwen's expression turned grim. These robots were specifically designed to target her. She had taken care of the previous ones, but they had apparently mass-produced them!
