Chapter 174 - Chapter 174: High-Speed Reunion

[Third Person Pov]

Danny and Robin tore through the outskirts of Gotham, leaving the city skyline shrinking behind them as they headed toward Star City. Their motorbikes roared in tandem, engines snarling as the two of them weaved expertly through traffic, slipping between vans, Jeeps, and delivery trucks with practiced ease. lights blurred past as wind tore at their clothes, the rush of speed drowning out everything except the steady crackle of their comms.

"We're going to be meeting up with KF soon," Robin said over the channel, his voice calm despite the chaos around them as he dipped between two vehicles with inches to spare.

"What? Seriously?" Danny replied, genuine surprise slipping into his tone.

"Yeah," Robin continued, accelerating as the road opened up. "He was planning on stopping by Gotham today anyway, but when I told him about our mission, he got pretty excited. Said he didn't want to miss out and decided to tag along."

Robin paused briefly before adding, amused, "Not to mention, he and Speedy are actually pretty close friends. He figured this was a good excuse to hang out with him too."

Danny let out a laugh that crackled through the comms. "Of course they are. The guy literally named Speedy and an actual speedster being close friends—yeah, that checks out."

"It really does sound ridiculous when you say it out loud," Robin chuckled. He glanced sideways toward Danny as they sped along parallel lanes. Danny's jacket was half unzipped, fabric snapping wildly in the wind, while the metal chain hanging from his pants whipped around like it had a mind of its own.

Robin's eyes drifted briefly to Danny's bike, taking in its sleek, otherworldly design and the faint green glow pulsing along its frame. Curiosity finally got the better of him.

"So," Robin said casually, "you want to tell me about your Ghost Rider?"

"Oh my god, I've been waiting for you to ask!" Danny shot back instantly, his excitement practically radiating through the comms. If Robin could see him clearly, he'd probably notice Danny vibrating with barely contained energy. "I kind of went all out when I built this thing."

Robin snorted quietly as Danny continued without taking a breath.

"Okay, first off, it's fully equipped with ghost-hunting weapons," Danny said proudly. "But the best part? Its fuel. It doesn't just run on gas—well, it can, technically—but the main power source is an ectoplasmic solution my dad invented. It runs on pure ectoplasmic energy. If you use regular gasoline, you only get basic movement. None of the fun stuff."

Robin shook his head, already smiling as he listened. He could hear the pride in Danny's voice loud and clear, and he had a feeling this explanation was only just beginning. It was going to be a long ride—but honestly, he didn't mind. He had asked for it after all.

"—And if I ever run out of fuel in the middle of nowhere," Danny continued enthusiastically, "I can actually channel my own ghost energy as a backup power source. Which is insanely cool, by the way."

As they approached a red light, Danny slowed and leaned casually onto one leg, still talking a mile a minute.

"It's got built-in blasters too," he said, tapping a button on the handlebar. With a smooth mechanical whirr, two hidden compartments slid open, revealing sleek weapon barrels that began charging with a low hum, glowing bright purple.

"Then there are the spikes," Danny added, pressing another button. Twin glowing green spikes jutted out from either side of the wheels, spinning rapidly as if eager for action.

"This one fires a capture net," he went on, pointing out each control in turn, "and this one sends a static surge through the net to stun whoever gets caught. Obviously, this button here is the turbo."

The traffic light flipped green, and both bikes surged forward again as Danny continued his rundown mid-ride.

"This shoots a stream of capture goo," Danny said, ticking it off. "That one deploys the shield, and this one—" he grinned, "—deploys a tether hook. Super useful."

Robin stared at him for a moment, disbelief written plainly across his face, before he finally burst out laughing. "You seriously went all out, huh?"

Danny smiled wide, his voice softening just a little as he replied, "She's my pride and joy."

If Robin could see his face clearly, he'd probably notice the faint shimmer of tears in Danny's eyes—half joking, half completely serious.

Robin suddenly felt a sharp gust of wind slam into his side—one that had absolutely nothing to do with his speed. A familiar weight leaned casually against his shoulder, balanced far too comfortably for someone riding on the back of a moving motorcycle at highway speeds. Robin didn't even flinch. Instead, a knowing smirk tugged at his lips.

"Sup, guys? It's been a while," Kid Flash greeted cheerfully, having appeared out of nowhere and casually perched on the back of Robin's bike as if he'd always been there.

Danny did a full double take, nearly twisting his neck as he glanced back and forth in disbelief. The reaction was immediate—and hilarious.

Both Robin and Kid Flash burst out laughing.

Robin kept one hand firmly on the handlebar while the other lifted into a loose fist, angled slightly backward. "KF," he said calmly, "you sure got here fast."

"Fast is what I do, baby," Kid Flash replied with a wide grin, lightly knocking his fist against Robin's in a quick, practiced bump.

Danny eased his bike closer until they were riding side by side and extended a casual hand across the small gap between them. "It's been a while, man."

Kid Flash leaned forward just enough to slap Danny's hand, his grin widening. "Since the Ember incident. Good times," he said nostalgically before Danny eased back into his lane.

In a blink, Kid Flash vanished from Robin's bike, dashed across the asphalt in a blur of red and yellow, and reappeared seated on the back of Danny's bike instead.

"Sick ride," Kid Flash said appreciatively, looking it over. "Looks clean and slick."

"Thanks," Danny replied proudly, patting the tank. "It's her first time out in the wild, really burning rubber."

Kid Flash leaned forward over Danny's shoulders, eyes lighting up as he stared at the control panel. "Ooooh, buttons!" he exclaimed. "What do these do?"

Before Danny could react, Kid Flash's fingers moved at super speed.

"Wait—wait—WAIT—WAIT—WAIT—!!" Danny shouted.

Spikes suddenly shot out from the sides of the wheels, blasters deployed and blasted small craters into the asphalt, a capture net launched uselessly into open air, and glowing green goop splattered across the road behind them.

Then the turbo engaged.

A massive burst of fire erupted from the exhaust pipes as the bike launched forward at terrifying speed, the sheer inertia nearly ripping both of them off their seats.

"WAAAAAAAAAH!!"

"WEEEEEEEEH!!"

Danny and Kid Flash screamed simultaneously—each for very different reasons.

Robin watched from behind with a weary grin as the loose net dragged wildly behind Danny's bike, billowing in the wind like a rogue parachute. He sighed, twisted the throttle, and accelerated to keep up.

"ARE YOU INSANE!?" Danny yelled as they barreled toward an oncoming bus.

At the very last second, Danny turned intangible.

The bike phased cleanly through the vehicle, leaving the passengers staring in horrified disbelief as two translucent figures passed straight through the floor and out the other side.

"Hahaha!" Kid Flash laughed loudly. "Why add a turbo feature if you can't handle it?!"

"Who says I can't handle it?" Danny snapped back. "Watch me!"

He tightened his grip on the handlebars, leaned forward into the wind, and focused.

Kid Flash leaned back, ginger hair whipping wildly behind him, an enormous grin plastered across his face as Danny began weaving through traffic with growing confidence. One by one, Danny slapped the buttons back into place, retracting the spikes, sealing the blasters, recalling the net—everything except the turbo.

Danny's eyes flashed bright green beneath his visor as his reflexes kicked into overdrive. He snaked between cars with impossible precision, darting through tight spaces as if he'd been doing this for years. A trail of neon green light lingered behind him, marking their path along the highway.

As the skyline of Star City came into view, Danny finally eased off the throttle, slowing enough for Robin to catch up.

Kid Flash laughed loudly and patted Danny's shoulders. "Okay, I'll admit it—you proved me wrong. You're a natural."

"Do that again," Danny said flatly, glancing over his shoulder, "and I'm throwing you off."

Kid Flash immediately raised his hands in surrender, laughing. "My bad, my bad! I saw green buttons and couldn't resist. I see button—I press."

"What are you, a little kid?" Danny scoffed just as Robin pulled up beside them.

"Only in heart," Kid Flash replied proudly, placing a hand on his chest, "and in name."

Robin glanced between the two of them. "I'm pretty sure you both violated several traffic laws back there. Wouldn't look great if you got a ticket on your very first ride out."

"What do you mean you guys?" Kid Flash protested, crossing his arms into a dramatic X. "I'm not the one driving."

Danny slowly turned his head, staring at Kid Flash in silence for several long seconds, his eye twitching before he finally looked back to the road.

Both Kid Flash and Robin burst out laughing.

Together, they veered toward the intersection leading straight into Star City, engines humming as the next phase of their mission awaited.
