Chapter 68: The Fracture Beneath the Light
The wind carried a scent of ash and lotus across the Garden's upper terraces. The fractured sky above wept faint golden tears, as if mourning what was yet to come. In the distance, faint thunder rolled, but not from any storm—it was the groaning voice of the Bloom shifting in its slumber.
Riku sat at the edge of a half-shattered balcony, his legs dangling over the drop, gazing out over the still-luminous fields below. His pendant glowed faintly on his chest, pulsing in soft rhythm. Behind him, Haru and Airi remained silent, watching his back like sentinels unsure whether to approach.
"He hasn't spoken since last night," Airi whispered.
"I know," Haru replied. "But I think he's thinking about her."
Airi's gaze lowered. "Himari..."
Riku's fingers closed around the pendant. He exhaled shakily. "She was here. In the vision. I saw her face, not just a memory. She looked right at me, like she knew what was happening."
"What did she say?" Haru asked, stepping closer.
"Nothing," Riku replied. "But her eyes said everything. She was warning me. No... she was asking me: 'Will you keep your promise?'"
Flashback:
Rain fell in thin sheets as young Riku stood beneath a tattered umbrella beside Himari. They were no older than ten, huddled near a shrine lit with fireflies. Himari's voice was quiet, barely rising above the sound of rain.
"Promise me something," she said.
"Anything," Riku replied, serious beyond his years.
"No matter what happens to me... no matter how far I go... you keep walking forward. You carry my light. You understand?"
Riku swallowed. "Only if you promise to come back."
She smiled. "That's not the deal."
End Flashback.
The present...
A scream pierced the air from the eastern corridors.
Riku stood instantly, the glow in his eyes returning. "That was Sera!"
The three bolted across the broken stones, weaving through vines and twisted paths, the Garden shifting subtly underfoot as if guiding them.

Elsewhere: The Crystal Hollow
Sera lay on her back, coughing as she stared at the blurred ceiling of the ancient hollow. Her arm still shimmered with the power of Reflection, but the barrier had shattered. Above her, Rei gritted his teeth, blades drawn, facing a figure cloaked in fractured light.
The figure—the Apparition of Doubt—was an echo of Sera herself, younger, uncertain, broken.
"You abandoned yourself," it said with a grin. "Chased perfection. Sacrificed your feelings for their sake. And now look at you. Weak."
Sera forced herself upright, her legs trembling. "I didn't abandon anything. I chose to protect."
"And what has that given you?" the apparition asked. "A heart full of silence? A boy who doesn't see you?"
Her hands clenched. Behind her, Lina rushed to her side. "Don't listen to it, Sera. It's just your fears speaking."
"But they're not wrong..." Sera whispered. "I've watched him look at her the way I always dreamed he might look at me. And still... I stayed."
Rei shouted, parrying a burst of light. "That's strength, not weakness! Sera, you are more than reflection—you are the source."
The apparition struck, but Sera stepped forward, raising her arm. "I am more. Because I love without expecting anything in return. Because I choose hope."
A pulse of silver light erupted from her, enveloping the apparition. It screamed—not in pain, but in release—and dissolved into petals.
Sera collapsed again. "Thank you... for reminding me."

Perspective: Kaoru
Kaoru stood at the garden's western gate, hand against the cold bark of a tree that pulsed faintly with energy.
Beside him, Kohana sat cross-legged, meditating. She had grown quieter, more composed. Kaoru envied her calm.
"The Garden tests us by memory," Kohana said softly. "But there's a difference between holding the past and being held by it."
Kaoru chuckled bitterly. "I watched my sister walk into the storm. And I did nothing."
Kohana opened her eyes. "You were a child. She didn't need you to stop her. She needed you to survive."
His throat tightened. "I don't know if I have. Not really."
"Then maybe it's time to start. By stepping forward. With us."
She offered her hand. Kaoru took it.

Meanwhile: At the Bloom's Root
Veyla stood before the Sealed Door, her robes whispering like leaves in wind. The sigils surrounding it glowed faintly. Behind her, Toma approached, voice grave.
"You plan to open it, don't you?"
Veyla didn't turn. "They need answers. Even if the truth bleeds."
"And what if it breaks them?" Toma asked.
"Then they rebuild. As we once did."
She turned at last, eyes shining. "The Ninth Seed lies beyond this seal. Not just power... but memory. The truth of the First Bloom."
Toma lowered his gaze. "Will they be ready?"
"No," she said simply. "But they'll face it anyway. That's what makes them worthy."

Riku's Group Arrives
They reached Sera just as the petals faded. She looked up at them and smiled faintly. "I'm okay."
Riku crouched beside her, gripping her hand. "You did great. We're here now."
Sera turned her head. "Did... you see her again?"
Riku hesitated. "Yes. But I don't know if it was really her. Or just this place playing tricks."
"Does it matter?" Airi asked. "She lives in your heart. That's what matters."
Rei helped Sera up. "Then let's finish what we started."

The Chapter Closes
All nine gathered again before the Sealed Door.
Veyla lifted her hand.
"This door leads to the truth. Once you pass through, there will be no more illusions. Only memory and consequence."
Riku looked at each of his friends. One by one, they nodded.
He stepped forward.
"We're ready."
The door began to open—slowly, with a groan like the shifting of time itself.
And from the dark within, a soft voice spoke:
"You came... just like you promised."
Riku's breath caught. "Himari?"
Light poured from the doorway, and the Garden trembled.
