"Alright, what should we do now?"
After revealing the move that Gin would make next, Hayashi Yoshiki raised the question.
What should they do?
"Obviously, we should collect all the bombs first, then counter their next move as it comes!"
Jodie looked serious. "They're trying to use the trackers in the bombs to locate Rena Mizunashi's hospital room... So let's use that to our advantage and mislead them."
"And where exactly do we lead them to?"
Faced with this question, Jodie frowned.
"Think about it. They created poisoning and arson incidents just to capture Rena Mizunashi... In a hospital setting, if they can't find her soon, they might resort to even more extreme actions."
"That's definitely something we must consider carefully."
James followed up on Hayashi Yoshiki's point. "Knowing how that organization works, they absolutely would do something like that."
"Then… should we try to make everyone evacuate the hospital?"
"Evacuate the hospital?"
"Yeah, imagine this—Gin sitting behind a surveillance monitor, expecting us to panic and run to Rena Mizunashi's room once he makes his move, but instead, every signal from the bombs suddenly swarms out of the hospital. What would he think then?"
As Hayashi Yoshiki finished, Jodie's eyes immediately lit up.
"He'd think the FBI is creating a diversion, and that Rena Mizunashi isn't in Haido Central Hospital at all!"
"Exactly. It might only fool him for a short time," said Hayashi Yoshiki, "but that's enough. We can use the opportunity to sneak Rena Mizunashi out with the rest."
"I see. If they realize halfway through that they've been tricked, they'll probably rush back to the hospital… But by then, Rena Mizunashi will have already been relocated elsewhere."
James let out a low murmur of admiration.
Even though it was a risky plan, it had a good chance of success. Rena Mizunashi's location had already been compromised. Even though the hospital was easier to defend than to attack, it couldn't stay secure forever under constant threat.
"There's still another problem—where can we transfer Rena Mizunashi to?"
Conan looked up at the three adults before him.
At his words, Jodie fell into deep thought.
Ever since Atsushi Uchiyamada's death last night, they knew Rena Mizunashi's position had been exposed. The only reason they hadn't transferred her last night was that they had no suitable place to move her.
At Haido Central Hospital, they had the support of the hospital director. Anywhere else, they wouldn't have that level of confidentiality… And since Rena Mizunashi was a well-known TV anchor, any hospital would attract attention.
After all, this wasn't the FBI's home turf.
"I'll ask the hospital director if there's any other option."
After a moment of thought, James spoke.
Soon enough, the director arrived, still in his white coat. He looked rushed, likely due to the surge of patients that morning.
"Director, the hospital is no longer safe. We need to transfer Rena Mizunashi immediately." James looked at him apologetically. "Sorry, but the FBI's influence in Japan is limited. Is there any other place where we can safely relocate her?"
"..."
The director frowned at the question.
Under Hayashi Yoshiki's careful gaze, the director showed no signs of remembering last night's discussion. His expression toward Hayashi was completely normal.
"Secretly transferring her to another hospital is too risky… Oh! I have a friend who works as a private doctor. He just left for Germany last week and won't be back until next month. His house has a lot of professional medical equipment." The director suddenly recalled, "If it's just for about ten days, it should be fine."
"That's more than enough! But… would that really be okay?"
"It should be. I'll call and ask for his permission."
As he spoke, the director immediately took out his phone and made a call.
Once connected, he stepped aside and began to negotiate.
Watching his back, Hayashi Yoshiki frowned. "That director… can we trust him?"
"Don't worry. If he weren't trustworthy, we wouldn't have been able to keep Rena Mizunashi's presence hidden for this long."
James nodded seriously.
With that assurance, Hayashi Yoshiki and Conan had no further objections.
Soon, the director hurried back.
"He said we can use the place."
"That's a huge help!"
The director left just as quickly as he had come.
Watching him disappear down the hallway, Hayashi Yoshiki turned to the others again. "So we're going with this plan?"
"Of course! Why waste such a good opportunity?" Jodie smiled. "Like you said, we can't just sit around waiting for them to attack again and again."
"She's right," James agreed.
"Alright then—let's move. Retrieve the bombs from the patients' rooms."
Hayashi Yoshiki checked the time as he spoke.
James quickly instructed the FBI agents to begin the operation.
As they entered room after room and collected the bombs left by the organization, Gin—watching from outside the hospital—began to see many of the bomb signals on his monitor start to move.
Watching the green dots shift on the screen, Gin let out a low scoff.
Cointreau must've figured out his entire plan.
But in order to earn the FBI's trust, he hadn't revealed his next move—even to Gin—only telling him to act like he knew nothing.
When did that bastard pick up Vermouth's bad habits?
Gin's jade-green eyes glinted coldly from under his hat brim, but he still gave the order quickly, telling Vodka to proceed as planned.
Soon after, the TVs inside Haido Central Hospital turned to static.
The screen flickered, then changed content.
"Ah! It's the lady from TV!"
Jodie was in a pediatric room, retrieving a bomb hidden inside a teddy bear, when the TV suddenly displayed Rena Mizunashi sitting on a hospital bed in a patient gown.
The moment she saw it, Jodie's pupils shrank.
"I've completely recovered now. To everyone watching on TV, I'm sorry for worrying you so much. I'll keep doing my best, so please continue to support me."
The background behind Rena Mizunashi clearly looked like Haido Central Hospital.
Hayashi was right all along...
If they hadn't already seen through this trick, Jodie was sure the agents would have panicked and rushed straight to Rena Mizunashi's room.
But now, she knew Rena Mizunashi was already packed and ready to be moved out of the hospital.
"Let's move."
James waited a couple of minutes, then took out his phone and issued the order.
In that instant, the agents all began rushing toward the hospital's main exit.
