Chapter 89 - C-089: Chaotic Battle Setting and Double Threat

"Calm down everyone!" Isabella's voice boomed aloud amidst the crowd of people in disarray who had found themselves suddenly teleported outside the academy campus which was now covered in a thick black dome. "The Jaegers Association will send agents here very soon! Until then please stay calm!"

Half of the crowd's attention was on Isabella while the other half called out to their close ones.

'Just what is going on in there?' Isabella questioned internally, glancing back at the black dome that veiled the entire academy. 'Normally, the sensors should have picked up on any spike of stagnant mana flow in the air before the Vanishing Point appeared. So how did this happen?'

She gritted her teeth, her expression a mix of frustration and confusion as a realization dawned on her.

'Just what's going on, Hugo?'

"Hope you're ready for round two, old man. Because here I GO!" Frank leaped, arriving in an instant before Hugo with a ready and armed kick.

"Gotcha!" the kick swung up to Hugo's right side.

A powerful gust of wind immediately blew away the shark-teethed boy before his attack could connect.

"Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow…!" Frank screamed through the air before he landed on his feet, grinding on the ground from the momentum.

"Sheesh. Guess catching you by surprise won't work, huh?" Frank wiped off the drop of cold sweat that was hanging on his jaw.

"You would do well not to underestimate your opponents, young Wellberg," Hugo said, his posture relaxed yet leaving no opening.

"Heh." Frank simply smirked at the remark.

"Me? Underestimating you? You're joking, right?" Frank's smirk turned into an anxious grin. "I'm not that dumb you know."

"Yes, I know," Hugo replied at Frank's words.

"Heh! Guess I should feel honored, huh?" Frank's hands went onto his hips.

Hugo's stance remained guarded and vigilant as he examined the young man.

"How about this then?" Frank took a step forward as his right hand rose from his hip and he gestured it towards Hugo with his index finger to come at him. "Gimme your best shot."

Hugo's eyes became sharper as a soft breeze blew across the area.

"What's the holdup?" Frank's arms stretched out wide. "WERE NOT THE ONLY ONES HERE, YOU KNOW!!!"

Hugo's eyes slightly widened in surprise as rumblings and thundering roars made the very air tremble.

'A miscalculation on my part,' Hugo's head turned backwards, his eyes fixed on the figure that leaped from the ground and was now falling straight towards them like a missile.

"Hey," Hugo's gaze shifted once again, now glancing back at the opponent he was engaged with. "Don't forget I'm still here… dean."

With an explosive landing, a powerful roar blew away the dust cloud, revealing a four-armed towering giant that was almost 8 feet tall. Red skin marked with black spiraling tattoos highlighted its muscular body that was clothed in pelts of beast. Each of his four hands was armed with swords and shoulder-length black furry hair crowned his head, its eyes replaced by imposing horns.

"…" Frank's gaze landed on the horizon.

"Wow…" he focused his eyes, the wave of simple, red-skinned giants with two arms rising up dust in their charge. "That's quite the welcoming party we have."

Frank's head then faced the sky, onto the figure that floated high above.

'I truly should have been more vigilant,' Hugo thought as he saw the wave approaching them. 'Ogres. And at their helm is a High Ogre.'

A roar thundered behind Frank as the latter immediately evaded the strike with a sudden burst of speed.

"That was too close for comfort," Frank expressed, his gaze rising up towards Hugo.

'This won't be an easy battle,' Hugo immediately went higher up.

"Hm? What?" Frank had a confused expression on his face. 'Why go higher?'

Flash-stepping behind him, the High Ogre had all four of his blades ready to strike the young man.

"Well, this is a three-way battle I guess," Frank disappeared before the blades could reach him.

Instead, his body reappeared at face-height of the High Ogre, a left-hook armed and ready.

"SETTLE DOWN, WILL YOU?!" a powerful blow followed as the High Ogre's body was sent away, its feet grinding against the ground before finally stopping.

And at that very moment, a vast magic circle appeared in the sky.

"Huh? What the…?"

Countless small flaming meteorites came crashing down onto the ground in destructive waves.

"You're kidding, right?!" an explosion crashed down and engulfed the boy in a cloud of dust.

The entire academy grounds were now becoming a sea of flames and destructions, the only proof that the institution once stood there, being the ruins of the academy buildings and facilities.

The ground beneath Hugo's eyes was nothing more than a giant cloud of dust that only grew wider and thicker as the bombardment from his spell continued.

At the same time, outside of the Abyss created by the Vanishing Point, atop a certain building with full view of the academy and situation on the streets, a dark-purple portal opened as if a drop of water had fallen on the surface of a river, reverberating until it fully stabilized.

Black high heels stepped out of the portal followed by the figure of a black-haired woman dressed in a long, one piece, black dress.

"It would seem the festivities have already started," purple eyes gleamed with sinister glow as they observed the happening below. "I guess your little pawn wasn't able to successfully infiltrate the academy. Well, considering his opponent, it is not that surprising. Don't you think so too, Master?"

Lilith then turned to face the black-haired, red-eyed man who also stepped out of the portal. He wore polished loafer-shoes, a tailored black shirt, a brown vest and brown pants.

"Yes. I imagine that the Master Magus must not be an easy opponent for him," the mysterious, red-eyed man expressed himself as his eyes became more and more focused. "But it's all right. We simply need him to fulfill his role, after all."
