Chapter 9 - Chapter 9 : Fear Personified

Coughing blood, Calvin grasped his chest in pain. Something moved in him, some primal, something diabolic. He could feel it, he could feel the possession taking control.

It was only a matter of time. The only choice he had was in chosing which devil would manifest. However before that he had to survive.

The horrors before him were letting him breath, something beings of their kind don't do.

A glass panel set aglow the darkness of the abyss, yet it wasn't of the system, but an innate technique. It came in form of a drawing board, a board with icons which fabricated into reality once tapped.

Calvin quickly sketched a bandage and a few splints. Once they were drawn, he deactivated the technique, leaving the drawn items to fall into his palms.

Although he could quickly use Abysmal Regeneration to restore himself. It came with a price, using it like that or even using any of his diabolic traits to a high level would mean he could go possessed in a moments notice.

Across from his position, the arachnid horrors monitored him from a distance. While they were still immobile, he took of his clothes and wrapped up his gaping injuries.

His sides were especially appalling, surviving something like that was simply uncanny. Donning his apparel, he was still in wonder as to why the horrors hadn't attacked.

Anyway he had to confront and bypass the arachnid horrors; Kyra's state was currently unknown. Surging forward with a velocity which created violent whirlwinds, he reached his first target at the blink of a second.

His blade flew in a sideways arch. But soon everything became black, he felt lightheaded for a moment. Then crushed by the force of gravity and the hardness of the earth.

Instantly Calvin had lost consciousness. The bravo of thinking he could defeat an awakened horror after a fight like that. So his body lay, still and unmoving. Face to the ground and the fact he didn't stand a chance in the first place.

At a distance, the arachnid creatures watched in anticipation for a miraculous comeback. However that wasn't the case as Calvin was simply knocked out and wouldn't be able to move for the coming days.

He found himself adrift in a grey metaphysical plane. His usual nonchalant demeanor replaced with a deadpan expression. Still wearing his mundane apparel and holding his weapons tightly; it wasn't noticed when something strange happened.

In the void, a tear occured and sent a ripple to echo through out the infinite void. If Calvin was awake, a splitting pain would have destroyed his neural system.

However he wasn't so he would fell nothing till he became conscious. After moments from where the tear appeared, a silhouette appeared and from that emerged a being.

Too weak to be divine. Too powerful to be mortal.

It was female by all concept and was stark naked. A brunette by appearance, her beauty was inhumane, her figure, sculpted by the divine.

She was an epitome of nigh perfection, her facial features was that of teen, however her voluptuous figure depicted maturity.

Her dewy olive skin shimmered under the grey light of the plane. Gracefully she floated at Calvin's direction and ultimately reached him in due time.

She stopped when she was a few inches away from his slowly moving body. Her soft gaze scanned his face as if try to memorize his facial features.

Then a sigh left her lips and she shut her eyes. All just to abruptly open them, fierce this time, filled with anger and resentment. Her delicate palm flew at shocking speeds and brush across his face.

A slap. One so powerful, it defied the logic of strength someone as femaline as her was supposed to possess. Yet Calvin didn't flinch. Another slap came and after that another one followed.

After the seventh slap, his eyes were slowly receiving clarity. The demigoddess held him by the shoulder shaking and calling his name. But he had entered the Null state.

" Calvin, you have to come back…, you can't leave us…, YOU CAN'T LEAVE ME!!! " She said screaming the last words. But Calvin didn't respond, he couldn't, he didn't have enough convocation to strive.

The female demigoddess hugged him tightly, her head resting on his bosom. " Don't do this Calvin. " She sobbed, " I know Myers death hurt you, but it wasn't your fault, comeback to us. Accomplish your mission."

" Heaven wouldn't allow it. " Calvin said suddenly, his voice raspy, his eyes lifeless. She looked up at him, " We are falling apart and dieing off, we need you, we need our powerhouse. "

Calvin remained quiet, " Use it, Use the title, Use…, Noctis Veyrahl. " She said, something seemed to have shuddered the space causing it to vibrating violently.

When it subsided, the demigoddess spoke once more, " Your limitless Calvin, control the devils how you did during the first siege. Don't let a mistake ruin your existence. "

After saying this the tear which she created to enter the domain widened and pulled on her. Before she could fall out of his grasp, Calvin grabbed her arms.

" Don't leave me, Lauryn." He cried, his eyes filled with so much emotion, " It's so dark, I need you." She pulled against the force dragging her away. She pulled herself until her face and his face were millimeters apart.

Then their lips met, they stayed like that for a moment before she broke the kiss and whispered to him. " Come back to me. "

With that, they left each other and Lauryn flew into the tear which closed up when she was through it.

Calvin sighed, his face returning to its normal stoic demeanor. " I have no other choice he said disappearing from the space.

The chasm shuddered, its very existence whispering damnation. Calvin's body abrupt rose. Eerily, unnatural and purely inhumane. A chuckle left his lips as his apparel straightened out automatically.

He raise a foot and awkwardly turn to face the spider horrors. " Shinu. " He said, his voice husky yet terrifying calm. The arachnid creatures looked at him. Their expressions whispering fear.

However the two weakest dash towards him. A creepy smile stretched across his face as he walked forward he stretched his hands and vanished.

Reappearing behind the advancing horrors, they instantly froze then burst into a pool of greenish liquid, black blood and flesh. The two stronger horrors stepped backwards instead of rushing forward.

The strongest of the horrors, a pale humanoid horror with four limbs and six extension sprouting from its back. It had black abysmal eyes with a yellow amber slit in one of his eyes. The other eye had none but a stich which ran across it.

Its mouth was partly shut by thick broad strands of its flesh. With a muscular frame and an bioluminescent snow white skin. This was simply a sight to behold.

" Lord Noctis Veyrahl, have mercy on my weak existence." The horror plead with an uncannily accurate human voice. Noctis froze, " You speak, lowly fabricant.", " Only by your will great…." It said.

Moreover before he could finish, the fourth horror attempted to attack Noctis. The Lord of Horrors gazed at it and it was left paralyzed on its spot.

Hitherto he had been approaching the horrors, so when he passed the burly horror it fell into diced pieces. Noctis reached the fidgeting arachnid and held it by the shoulder.

" Sadly, you have reached the end of your existence. It time for you to serve another purpose." Noctis said looking at the horror with his newly formed vermilion iris.
