Chapter 23 - Four Years Old

More than three years passed, and Ellis was now four years old.

During all that time, Ellis had done a lot of things, and learned just as much.

Aside from the general information that he previously would always try hard to piece together from what he saw or heard from Silas. But after learning how to read and write—moreover, after discovering the existence of the library in his palace and entering it on his own—these kinds of things and more were all written in just one book explaining the history of the royal family. So, they were easily obtained.

Aside from that, which he now considered trivial, he did many things.

Ellis actually started learning magic!

… Or more like, learning about magic.

As after understanding how magic works in this world, he found himself filled with doubts toward it.

He at first sought to take Silas's help in that, of course—not just in regard to his doubts, but also to help him in learning magic. But it turned out that she didn't know much.

So, he was forced to teach himself.

Even then, the process was fun.

Learning theories about mana, magic circles that indicated the level of a mage, or the spells—and the magic circles that represented them, that were like a conduct, a channel for performing magic—gave him a sense of fulfillment.

With the sea of knowledge around him, Ellis was like a fish that had returned to water, and he spent all his time in the library.

He learned with all his might, pouring all his efforts into learning about magic... and mana!

And through this learning process, he came to understand the reason why he was deemed talentless.

It was the existence of Circuits… the mana channels that made the movement of mana inside the body a lot easier.

And not just that. They even made accumulating mana inside the body much easier.

Circuits were involved in everything when it came to magic, and the absence of them, despite him being royalty, was a problem.

As that was like the easy road to obtaining it, and the lack of it was more than enough to even make it feel like a smirch on the royal family's face.

Was the royal bloodline really this powerful?

While touching his hair, Ellis couldn't help but wonder, and feel some regret lingering in him... but that too vanished with what Aurora told him.

[the Valemere 'bloodline' is so low-leveled, that it was not possible at all for it to be able to flow in your veins.]

She proceeded to explain the reason to him in more detail, and Ellis naturally came to disdain the bloodline because of that.

For Ellis, despite having an incomplete physique that currently wasn't helping him in anything, the presence of it, in itself, was more than enough for every low-leveled bloodline to not be able to mix with his body, apparently.

Not to mention there was also the gray shard.

Even Aurora wasn't able to give him a satisfying answer regarding its effect on bloodlines in particular.

But it was still enough for him to understand that he wouldn't be able to hold any kind of low-leveled bloodline. And instead he needs a strong one.

A very strong one!

While that left him with some mixed emotion, after all, who knew when he would be born in a body that has that kind of bloodline.

But as there was no solution for that topic for now, he decided to close it, and concentrate on the things he could solve for now.

... And that naturally returns things to Circuits!

It was mentioned that the easiest way of getting them was through his royal bloodline... then that naturally would mean that there were other methods!

And Ellis naturally learned them.

But actually, there were not that many methods of acquiring them—just a single one.

As aside from getting the Circuits due to the existence of a bloodline, the other way was through birth.

As rarely... very rarely, some individuals would be born with Circuits already existing in their bodies.

So, taking these two cases, ones which couldn't imitate, as they were present since one's birth aside, the method that one could actually work toward, was creating them!

Engraving them!

One would need a huge amount of mana, an absurd amount of knowledge, and then mental strength... and then you are ready to go!

One would wonder, if someone was able to possess these three without the existence of Circuits, then would Circuits still have any meaning?

The answer for the others was no!

As one would rather spend the mana that they would have sacrificed for these Circuits, instead on making another circle on one's heart.

And become more powerful!

Ellis naturally didn't share the same thoughts... as anything that could help with his next life… that could give him more potential, was important. Was necessary!

Because Ellis understood through these four years, that while his body would die and he would be born in another body through his Ephemeral Soul Genesis ability.

That doesn't mean that he would need to start from zero.

First, his soul would not be affected. And after some time, reincarnating wouldn't even injure it.

Second, his skills wouldn't change!

And third... actually, there isn't.

As mana and constitution were naturally related to his body.

But with his soul that had naturally recovered through these four years, Ellis theorized something!

And that would be, his soul... if it were strong enough, would it really not affect his mana and constitution then?

Even his Ephemeral Soul Genesis ability. Who said that he couldn't improve it another time, to make it so that rebirth would even stop affecting his body?

The possibilities were countless, without even mentioning that when the new system upgraded once again, it was also bound to make things easier for him.

"Master, the Knight Commander Galen Valeson has arrived."

While absorbed in his thoughts, thinking about his current progress, suddenly Silas's voice was heard.
