Chapter 124 - Chapter 124: Pietro’s Love for Comics

[3rd POV]

Visiting her counterpart personally was something that Wanda had been very interested in doing. She needed to meet her in order to stop her from speaking the words that would end many many lives of mutants, and make her a villain to the entire multiverse for a long time.

A mistake that she could never truly get over.

That, and she wanted to visit that place either way. There was some objects there that she was really interested in, and she was curious about the higher entities there. She knew that the Queen of Nevers would probably wish to speak with her, with Wanda being a special entity in her eyes.

She also wanted to meet the Phoenix Force at least once, as she was curious about obtaining its power for herself. As her psychic power was a bit lacking in comparison to her magical, and she'd love to get some more psychic power for herself, and the Phoenix Force was the absolute best way of massively boosting it in time.

But actually getting its power was an entirely different thing, and Wanda wasn't sure if it would allow her to access its immense power. For its power was intricately connected to the very concept of life, for it was the literal embodiment of all psionic energy that has existed, will exist, and is existing.

And psionic energy was very closely connected to life itself. Something that was shown with the Phoenix's powers that were centered around life, making it a sort of embodiment of life itself as well.

The exact opposite of Death.

Wanda couldn't help but wonder what would happen if Death of the Endless met the Phoenix. They were basically polar opposites afterall.

Really Wanda was interested in Death going there in general. As Lady Death did exist in Marvel, but from her own understanding she wasn't as strong as Death of the Endless.

Would they merge into one stronger entity? Would they fight one another in order to become the one true death? Or would they do something completely different and shock her?

Well, this was all under the assumption that the Living Tribunal will not interfere, which that thing most certainly would given the nature of Death.

'Hmm, if I am to go there that thing will be the biggest obstacle' Wanda thought, knowing that the Living Tribunal is the one that keeps the balance in the Marvel multiverse, and it's true self is an immensely powerful entity.

At least on par with Lucifer. This was it's true self though, not the versions that were beaten by the Beyonders or whatever else. And it was more similar to the Spectre than anything.

The being that was most similar to Lucifer in that multiverse would be the Beyonder, the entity, not the species. Another being in that multiverse that could genuinely be a threat to Wanda, especially if he was close to his "Pre-retcon" levels of power.

'Either way, I'll have to be careful when I do go there' Wanda decided, knowing that the higher echelons of Marvel tended to scale higher than that of DC. But DC had a shit ton more entities than Marvel did, so it was more of a "Quantity" over "Quality" sort of situation in DC's case.

'I can defeat the Living Tribunal without too much hassle as long as it does not ascend into its true form. But it's the other cosmic entities all coming at me at the same time that will be a problem, even with my power' Wanda thought, glancing over to the comics section.

She saw her "Brother" looking through the comics section, reading through one of the suggestions she had given him. In this case it was the Walking Dead, the man seemed truly interested in the comics, and was already making a stack of them.

'Looks like I still know his taste' Wanda thought with a small smile on her face. She knew that he liked more adult comics, ones that could be brutal and gore filled at times. When he was younger he liked normal hero comics, but once he got older he liked adult stuff.

Like Invincible and the Walking Dead. She was even tempted to suggest "The Boys" but the comics for that series were...kind of awful to be frank. The show was far superior in literally every single way. And it was even more brutal than the show, with things like rape, mass murder, racism, and absolutely horrific shit being very common.

Too far for her brother's taste.

'At the rate he's going he'll have a stack of over 50 comics' Wanda thought with a chuckle, finding this amusing. He was basically zooming around the comics section at this point, actively grabbing more and more comics.

But like she thought, when he looked over the Boys comic he frowned and put it back with an uncomfortable look on his face. It was likely because of what happened to Starlight in the comics, which was far worse than the show...like way worse.

After another few minutes of watching Pietro, Wanda watched as the man walked back to the counter, placing a stack of a little over 40 comics onto the counter.

"Seems even in other universes you are fond of comics" Wanda said with a smile, beginning to check the books out as Pietro brought out his wallet.

"I liked comics even in your universe?" Pietro asked, as Wanda nodded.

"He did. He loved the more heroic ones when we were younger, but as he got older he got far more into the adult comics. And it would seem that you are the exact same as he was" Wanda responded, as Pietro noticed that she was constantly saying "Was" not "Is".

He didn't dare say a word on it, but he understood that the Pietro she knew likely wasn't around. Or perhaps something else, either way, he wasn't going to ask or bring it up, knowing better than that.

"Yeah well the adult comics tend to have way more interesting characters, even if the gore can be over the top at some points" Pietro said with a smile, as he looked at the price go up. But he was surprised to find that the comics were pretty cheap, with the most expensive of them being only ten dollars at most.

"You aren't wrong about that" Wanda responded, checking out the final of the comics.

"You sure those prices are right? Seems really cheap for so many comics" Pietro asked.

"Hmm? Oh yes those are right. I price them at what they are worth, and don't care much about money so I price them right. I'd prefer to not take advantage of my customers, for this place is simply what I enjoy doing. Sharing knowledge and gathering more by interacting with people from around existence" Wanda responded with a nod, as the man stared at her for a few moments before chuckling.

"Didn't take you for a book nerd"

"Books are sacred, they carry the knowledge of existence within them" Wanda refuted with a huff, taking the man's payment as he smiled slightly. She was different than his sister, that's for sure, but he had to admit that she was nice.

He decided once his sister was better, he'd bring her here to meet her counterpart. He was sure that she'd be good friends with the Wanda in front of him.

"Whatever you say, Miss Book lover" Pietro responded with a snort, as he grabbed the bag that she placed the comics neatly into. Using a bit of magic to make sure the books wouldn't get bent or ruined at all.

She didn't want to ruin the comics after all.

"Is that all? Or do you want anything from the bakery?" Wanda asked, as the man shook his head.

"Nah, I ate before I found this shop. But next time I come around I'll buy a few muffins to try" Pietro responded with a smile, confirming to her that he would absolutely be returning again in the future.

"Well then...I hope to see you again soon" Wanda said, as she watched as the man gave her a wave and his own goodbye, before walking out of the shop moments later, leaving her with Raven as a sigh escaped her lips.

"He was interesting" Raven said simply, staring at Wanda intently as the woman could only chuckle.

"Alright, I'll explain more about my past to you. But only once the kids get back" Wanda said, only for Naruto and Milim to peak out of the corner a moment later, staring at her intently.

"Who was he, mama?" Milim asked, noticing the way she interacted with Pietro, but not hearing anything beyond the goodbyes, as they only got there a few moments ago.

Hearing her question, Wanda sighed as she flipped the sign to "Close". Then she looked at the three of them, and looked down before beginning.

"I...I think it is time I tell you more about myself...from the beginning"
