"I have no sleeping bag," Miyanna sighed, thinking on where to best sleep on the ground.
"You can use mine," Blanc replied casually, "I will not be sleeping tonight."
"Are you sure?" Miyanna asked, somewhat surprised.
"I am sure," Blanc nodded as he offered her a smile.
Miyanna did not argue further, accepting the sleeping bag from him with gratitude.
Another problem arose once they prepared their sleeping place.
There was nowhere one could go to relieve oneself.
Luckily, the other hills had just enough cover, and since Blanc had the idea of packing moss for occasions like this, the problem was soon solved as they, shovel in hand, went and did what was required.
Though it was once more quite embarrassing for the twins.
However, after washing their hands, they soon forgot about it as they began eating from their supplies of dried, cured meat.
It wasn't as fancy and delicious as the meals Blanc and Celine cooked together, but it was enough to fill them all.
Enough for the exhaustion of the day to build as the dark overtook the sky and the moon shone brightly in the sun's stead.
"Try to get some rest," said Blanc to the four as he first went to the twins and kissed them on their foreheads.
"Good night, brother," said Lune and Kael in unison.
With a pat on their heads, he moved to Celine, who lay nearby, near Miyanna, each on their sleeping bags.
"Are you sure you don't need sleep, my love?" asked Celine.
"I'm not tired yet. I can rest for a bit tomorrow when we take another break," Blanc replied to her as he crouched down and went to kiss her.
"As you wish," she said, pulling him closer for another quick peck on his lips before she let go of him.
Then he moved to Miyanna, who sat looking at the night sky as stars appeared one by one in the night sky.
"When I was little," Miyanna began, "Mom was for a long time stuck in her bed. Every night, she used to take me in her arms and watch with me as I looked at the stars appearing slowly."
"She sounded like an amazing mother," Blanc replied as he lay down between her and Celine as she listened to Miyanna talking.
"She was," she said, "And one night, she told me to pick a place that had no stars in the sky and show it to her. When I did, she said, 'Good, I will be there, watching you,' and the next day she was dead."
"Miyanna, I-"
"There, look, look," Miyanna exclaimed, as a star slowly appeared shining in the sky, "That star appeared after the day she died. She… kept her promise to watch over me."
"Let me say hello then," Blanc grinned as he stood up.
"What?" Miyanna asked, not understanding what he meant.
"Good evening," he began as he looked at the star Miyanna pointed at, "I am the man who will soon marry Miyanna, your daughter. I hope you will bless our marriage and keep watching over her and us, mother-in-law. I hope the Vita is kind to you in your rest," he ended, doing a deep bow towards the sky.
As he lay back down, somewhat embarrassed, thinking it was cringe, both Miyanna and Celine were staring at him.
Thought Miyanna's eyes were clearly wet with newly formed tears.
Unsure of what to say, seeing the awkward silence, he turned to both of them in turn before he asked, scratching his neck, "Do you think I left a good first impression?"
With that question, even though she had tears in her bronze eyes,
Miyanna could not hold back the laughter that left her lips.
And neither did Celine, as they began laughing at Blanc's weirdness.
And they kept on laughing until Kael started complaining.
"What was that?" sniffed Miyanna as she wiped tears from her eyes with her hand.
"A simple greeting to an important person of yours. Was that bad?" Blanc asked, looking at her.
"On the contrary," Miyanna replied as she got up and went to kiss him, "Where were you all my life?"
"Here," he replied as he went to kiss her too, before getting up, "Good night, beautiful wives."
After Blanc went a bit of distance away to circle the hill and ensure nothing was around them, the two women got to whispering.
"Well, Miyanna?" Celine asked.
"Yeah, you were right. I will give my life gladly if it comes to his happiness," Miyanna muttered.
"He does have that about him," Celine replied, getting out of her sleeping bag. "Shall we?"
And with a nod from Miyanna, as she got up from her sleeping bag, they went after Blanc.
And they soon caught up with him as he was watching the smoke rising from the chimneys of the village, a mile away from them.
"You two were supposed to be sleeping," said Blanc as he played with a stick while watching the view.
His grey eyes reflected the moon's light, looking as if he had replaced his eyes with parts of the moon itself. It looked beautiful to the two.
"And you were supposed to keep your sharp tongue to yourself," Celine replied as the two approached.
"I did not say anything I did not mean," Blanc shrugged his shoulders, not looking towards the two as they approached.
"That's the damn problem," Miyanna sighed, as she took a seat on the grass near him.
"It will be cold," Blanc muttered as he felt their hands on his hair and back slowly moving around.
"That was not an issue before," Celine said, slowly moving to kiss his neck.
"We'll make it warm," Miyanna added.
After a night that indeed kept all of them warm and moving, they managed to sleep for about three hours before the sun rose, with Blanc had to wake everyone up.
"Good morning, good morning," Blanc said, searching for something in his bag.
When all of them finished greeting each other, Blanc managed to find what he was looking for. Salt.
"Breakfast is ready," he said, turning to the four, "Salted oats with dried meat. Managed to make a quick fire below between the hills. Quick, go wash and eat, then we leave for Isai."
