Chapter 156: Water Trial
~Third POV~
[Johto Region, Cianwood City – Outskirts]
It was on the outskirts of the city, as they were on their way back to the Pokémon Center, that an ethereal mist began to roll in from the sea, shrouding the coastline in a pearly white veil. The sea birds' cries became muffled, and the air grew heavy with a palpable energy that sent a shiver down Azure's spine.
His Pokémon, sensing the shift in the atmosphere, grew alert, their instincts on high alert. Then, the mist parted, and there, standing before them, its majestic form shimmering in the fading light, was Suicune - one of the legendary beasts of Johto.
The aura surrounding the Pokémon was not just of power; it was also a sense of elegant regality. Having been given the challenge, declared initiating the Water Trial, Suicune fixed its gaze upon Azure, its crystalline eyes holding an ancient wisdom.
A telepathic voice resonated within Azure's mind, clear as a bell, 'Trainer, I challenge you. In a one-on-one battle, let us see the extent of your bond.'
Azure, though surprised, felt a thrill of excitement course through him. A challenge from a legendary Pokémon was an honor, a test of his worthiness.
He met Suicune's gaze, his determination hardening. He wouldn't back down.
He turned to his Pokémon, assessing their readiness. Pikachu, ever eager, looked at him full of energy. Eevee fidgeted, its eyes full of eagerness.
Celebi floated close to Azure, its form shimmering with concern for its friends. He knew the potential risk involved.
His other Pokémon were also alert, their eyes focused on the Legendary. But Azure knew he had to make a crucial decision.
After a moment's deliberation, he turned towards Blastoise, a quiet understanding passing between them. He could feel the weight of the team's trust on his shoulders as he said softly, "Blastoise, my friend. This is our battle."
Blastoise, surprised by his choice, grinned smugly with a determined nod, stepped forward, water cannons already primed. Azure felt a surge of pride as he saw his Pokémon ready to battle. He knelt to his companion as he said, "This will be a tough battle, but I know we can do this. Remember, we are here to test our limits and show the world what we can do."
With a silent command, Azure signaled the rest of his team to stand back. Pikachu and Eevee looked a little disappointed, but they understood. Dragonite pouted, missing the chance, but allowed Blastoise to battle.
He trusted the rest to know their role, to be ready to protect and support if needed. He pulled out the Blastoisite, the Mega Stone that would allow Blastoise to tap into the ultimate power of Mega Evolution.
He repeated, his voice echoing in the silence that followed, "This is our battle. Let's show them what we're made of... Blastoise, use Hydro Pump!"
*SPLASH*
The battle began in earnest. The torrent of water from his Blastoise was met with an elegant, swift counter from the Legendary Pokémon.
The air crackled with energy as they engaged in a fierce exchange, the two energies colliding and reverberating into the mist. Azure watched intently, shouting out instructions with the precision of a seasoned veteran.
He adjusted Blastoise's tactics based on Suicune's reactions, focusing on exploiting weaknesses and anticipating the legendary Pokémon's moves. He knew he was up against a formidable opponent, a Pokémon whose power was only matched by its graceful strength.
The battle tested them both. The Water Trial tested their bond.
Suicune's relentless attacks, ice beams, and blizzard storms chipped away at Blastoise's defenses. Azure felt a knot of worry form in his stomach as he watched the toll the battle was taking on his Pokémon.
But his faith in Blastoise never wavered. He knew his Pokémon's resilience. It was for that reason that he picked Blastoise for its resilience and defense.
He trained his Squirtle to Blastoise to be the tank needed to take blows. The rest of his Pokémon could watch seeing Blastoise battled against a Legendary, brushing off ice and water attacks like nothing, following Azure's command.
*THUD*
Blocking a Blizzard from Suicune, Blastoise's eyes hardened, but shone with determination, never letting up. With a well-timed command, calling upon Blastoise's strength, Azure issued his signal, raising his Key Stone in a determined tone, "Blastoise, now! Mega Evolve!"
*SHIII*
As the words left Azure's mouth, a blinding light enveloped Blastoise. Its form shifted, growing larger, its cannons evolving into a single, massive cannon mounted on its back… and then...
*CRACK*
Emerging from the rainbow sphere was Mega Blastoise, a symbol of raw power and unwavering loyalty, which now stood before Suicune. Suicune's eyes widened seeing Blastoise evolve.
The transformation seemed to ignite the energy of the battle. Both Pokémon resumed fighting, the air filled with the sounds of roaring water and the elegant, graceful strikes of the Legendary.
Mega Blastoise retaliated with its new strength and fury. Azure continued to command, guiding his Pokémon through the battle.
He noticed Suicune weakening ever so slightly, the combined strength of Mega Blastoise and Azure's commands beginning to take their toll. But he knew he had to remain vigilant; even a slight lapse in concentration could lead to a devastating defeat.
Suicune opened its mouth and unleashed an Ice Beam. Its beam shot towards Mega Blastoise's direction.
*Pew*
Azure smirked as he countered, ordering in a confident tone, "Now! Use Strong Style! AURA SPHERE!"
Mega Blastoise made a sly grin as its cannons all began charging. Suicune's eyes widened as it detected a power boost in a stunned tone, 'What? That Blastoise power… it somehow increased!'
Azure smirked, seeing Suicune's surprised expression as he thought calmly, 'Even with Mega Evolution, Suicune is holding its own. But the surprise of my Blastoise using Aura Sphere is only normal as its ability from Torrent changed into Mega Launcher. It increases the power of all aura and pulse moves by 50%. Try to escape this!'
*BANG*
*BOOOOM*
Mega Blastoise unleashed an energy beam from three of its cannons at the Ice Beam Suicune produced. Knowing they were unavoidable, it took the hit as it recoiled in pain, "Sui!!!!"
Skidding across the battlefield, Suicune held its ground as Mega Blastoise panted from the constant battles it had taken. The battle raged on, and the two Pokémon pushed each other to their limits.
Suicune's eyes hardened as it began charging up a powerful sphere of water. Azure's eyes narrowed as he foresaw it powering up a Hydro Pump.
Witnessing this, he smirked as he thought proudly, 'Time to unleash our secret technique. Time to use that move!'
*SPLASH*
Suicune finally released a highly pressured Hydro Pump heading towards Mega Blastoise's direction. But Azure saw his chance as he roared, "Now Mega Blastoise! Use the Secret Technique! Strong Style!Hydro Cannon!"
Mega Blastoise smirked, hearing this as it cocked its cannons at Suicune's Hydro Pump. He smirked as Azure thought confidently, 'The Secret Techniques in the Pokémon Adventures Series are by far the most powerful moves one can learn. With just one, it managed to knock even Deoxys for a moment. All 9 killed a phantom Kyogure, so what does a powered Mega Pokémon use it against a Legendary Pokémon? I don't know, but it'll hurt a damn lot!'
*Click*
Mega Blastoise points its cannons at the opponent and fires an extremely powerful stream of water from each of the cannons and its mouth at the opponent. It unleashed its ultimate attack, a torrent of water that exploded with incredible force.
*SPLASH*
It collided as a water beam struggle happened. But it was short-lived as Mega Blastoise's Hydro Cannon overpowered Suicune's Hydro Pump, much to the Aurora's Pokémon's shock, seeing its move being overpowered.
*SMASH*
Suicune, caught off guard, was hit directly. Azure held his breath, watching the impact with a mixture of hope and anxiety.
The mist cleared again, revealing the result of the attack. Suicune, its form visibly weakened, stood defiantly for a moment before bowing its head in acknowledgement, causing the group to sigh in relief.
It turned to Azure, sending another telepathic message. This time it was in a respectful tone as Suicune telepathically said, 'Trainer, your bond is strong. Your Pokémon's strength is admirable, and your strategies are impressive. You have proven your worth.'
*Wooosh*
The mist began to recede. Before Suicune left, Azure ordered Celebi, "Celebi, quick heal them both."
*Shiii*
Celebi, using its natural abilities, healed the exhausted and reverted Blastoise. And then to Suicune, much to its shock, as Azure said calmly, "It was a fun battle, Suicune. You managed to help push me and my Pokémon. Take this healing as thanks for showing me much I must go."
Bowing his head slightly with a cheeky grin, Suicune was stunned. But it slowly smiled, seeing the potential of Azure being the next Rainbow Hero in the making. Suicune, with a final nod of respect, disappeared as quickly as it had arrived, leaving Azure and his Pokémon in the fading light of the setting sun.
Azure rushed to Blastoise, his heart pounding with a mixture of relief and pride. He ran his hand over his Pokémon's armor, praising its strength in an excited tone, "You were amazing, Blastoise! You have shown me what we are capable of! The other Kanto Trio are gonna be jealous of you, big guy!"
The other Pokémon cheered, their own relief and excitement pouring out. Pikachu and Eevee rushed forward, embracing their friend. Celebi, in its form aglow, showered its energy on Blastoise, accelerating its recovery.
Blastoise blushed at the praise but smacked its chest happily. Azure helped heal Blastoise using his Viridian Force.
Azure smiled, basking in the warmth of his team's support. He had faced a legendary Pokémon and, with the help of his loyal companions, had come out victorious.
He knew that their journey had given them many battles, but this would stand out as one of the most challenging and rewarding. He sighed out loud, "Phew… these trials are tough. But we managed."
As the last rays of the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in hues of orange and purple, Azure finally allowed himself to breathe a long sigh of relief. The battle had pushed them to their limits, both physically and emotionally, but it had also strengthened the bond between them.
He said, his voice echoing with satisfaction, "We did it. Together."
They headed back towards the city, the afterglow of their victory warming their hearts. He looked at his team, the embodiment of his dream, and knew that with their combined strength and the unwavering love that bound them, there were no challenges they couldn't face.
The journey was far from over, but Azure Sky, with his Pokémon by his side, was ready for whatever challenges lay ahead. And tomorrow, he knew, he would be ready to face Chuck, the Gym Leader of Cianwood City.
As he wanders back to the Pokémon Center to rest up for the night, the topic returned to who to rotate against Chuck as he muttered curiously, "Right… before that Suicune intervened, I was wondering what Pokémon would be good against him. I should check which team I should go with…"
Returning to the topic of which Pokémon Azure should use, he began to formulate a plan on which Pokémon he should pick. He slowly grinned, knowing which one he would need for the battle against Chuck…
