Chapter 130 - A Brother's Decision

(Opening Scene: The group remains in a state of weary disarray outside Lumina Academy. Xander, having listened intently to Astrid's comprehensive explanation, observes the scene with a thoughtful intensity.)

A long moment of silence followed Astrid's recounting of the events. Xander's gaze swept over the assembled group, taking in the exhausted faces, the lingering tension, and the grim evidence of the night's turmoil. He saw the genuine concern in Zane's eyes, the lingering fear in Lady Elara's, and the wounded pride in Prince Lysander.

Finally, Xander spoke, his voice calm but carrying the weight of his authority as a Montaigne heir and a powerful storm mage. "This… is a complicated situation," he acknowledged, his words a considerable understatement. "There has been conflict, injury, and a tragic loss of life. But I also hear a tale of protection, of loyalty, and of… unusual magical phenomena."

He looked at Prince Lysander, his expression firm. "Lysander, your behavior towards my sister was, by her account, unacceptable. You will offer her a sincere apology."

Lysander sputtered, his face reddening. "But she is my betrothed! She will obey my commands!"

Xander's eyes flashed with a hint of lightning. "Not while I stand here. My sister is not a possession to be ordered about. You will treat her with respect, or you will answer to me."

He then turned to Lady Elara, his tone softening slightly but remaining firm. "Elara, your actions were, I believe, driven by a desire to protect Astrid. However, your methods were… forceful. And the attempt to contain Eclipse… it was ill-advised."

He gestured towards the academy walls. "We are on academy grounds. Headmaster Theron is here. Let us resolve this with reason, not with further conflict."

Finally, Xander addressed Zane, his gaze steady. "Zane, your familiar is clearly a potent force. And your bond with him is… unique. However, his actions had severe consequences. We must find a way to ensure such an incident does not repeat itself."

With a few carefully chosen words, Xander had managed to shift the dynamic of the standoff. His presence, his authority, and his willingness to acknowledge the complexities of the situation had begun to defuse the tension. The path forward was still uncertain, but the immediate threat of violence had subsided.
