Zoe Lewis's heart suddenly skipped a beat because of his actions.

"Mia, stick out your tongue, let me see."
Blush gradually spread across Zoe Lewis's cheeks, her heartbeat almost overpowered the piano music in the restaurant.
She removed his hand, her eyelashes drooping slightly: "I'm fine, you sit back down."
He held onto her wrist tightly and refused to let go: "You're driving me away again, Mia."
"Am I?"
Zoe Lewis was both amused and exasperated. She was just asking him to sit across from her, how did he escalate it to "driving me away"? And he even said "again"?
He looked at her, his voice soft: "You kicked me out of your house the day before yesterday, and deliberately weren't home last night to avoid me coming over."
"Otherwise what? Should I wait for you to wreak havoc at my place? My parents have interrogated me several times; it took a lot of effort to explain things clearly. If you come again, I'll be in trouble."
