The central garden is quite large, with lush trees and a man-made lake. Several domesticated swans were gliding across the shimmering water, and Sophia Sutton handed a handful of swan feed to Iris Harris, saying to her, "You can go ahead and feed them."
The swans had long grown unafraid of humans through contact with visitors. They swam over excitedly as people approached. It was Iris Harris's first time encountering such graceful creatures. She extended her hand holding the feed, watching the swans reach over to eat from her palm.
Once the swans finished eating and drifted lazily to the other side, Iris slowly withdrew her hand. She stood by the lakeside for a long time, as the sky dimmed slightly. The clear lake surface reflected the blue velvet twilight, appearing somewhat somber.
Her gaze seemed melancholic beneath the shimmering reflection on the lake.
