As Brandan Hyde entered, he was greeted warmly by the host of the banquet, who was the president of L&F Bank. Having benefited a lot from Brandan in River City, the host was very enthusiastic upon seeing him.
"Young Hyde," President Johnston walked over with a broad smile, "You finally decided to show up; what have you been busy with lately that you seemed to have vanished?"
Brandan took a glass of red wine from a nearby waiter and said calmly, "Just some business troubles recently."
He then raised his glass, "Here I am at President Johnston's banquet, right?"
This remark pleased President Johnston greatly. The high society of River City all knew that Brandan had been keeping a low profile recently, rarely even going to his company. Invitations were sent one after another, but responses were scarce. He was cold and proud by nature, and even more so lately, giving no one any face.
