Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Standing Up for Her 2

Iris Harris never expected this group of privileged scions to be so unruly towards her. She subconsciously looked at Brandan Hyde, who was lounging on the sofa with his legs comfortably crossed, his expression cold and indifferent, not even glancing in her direction, allowing her to be bullied by his group. Meanwhile, Viola Harris sat by his side, a sweet smile on her lips, watching her like she was witnessing a good show, her eyes glinting with a black light.

Iris felt an indescribable coldness or pain in her heart. Her delicate brows furrowed slightly, showing an expression of being overwhelmed, but she didn't realize that this expression only further aroused the sadistic desire in the other men.

The young man who initially had his arm around her jokingly, now seemed unable to control himself, and Iris was completely held in his arms. She couldn't push him away, so she just gave in and said, "I'll drink."

It's just a glass of wine, what's the big deal.

Seeing Iris about to drink that glass of wine, Alex Hawk, sitting next to Brandan Hyde, couldn't help but speak up, "Brandan."

Brandan Hyde coldly lifted his eyes to look at Alex Hawk, "What's wrong?"

"That drink..." Alex Hawk felt a headache coming on.

Earlier, when Iris hadn't come over yet, a few of their friends were boasting about the "good stuff" they recently bought from the black market, saying it could turn a virgin into a wanton woman. The enthusiastic bunch poured half of it into a drink, intending for some girl to try its effects, when Iris walked in.

He couldn't believe Brandan Hyde hadn't witnessed it.

Could they really let Iris consume it?

No matter how much they disliked Iris, this was too much.

Iris liked Brandan Hyde.

This fact was known to everyone in the Harris family and the Hyde Residence, even the circle of friends around Brandan Hyde knew.

Yet Brandan Hyde was with Viola Harris, the youngest daughter of the Harris family.

Brandan Hyde had high standards; how could he be interested in a plain woman like Iris?

Moreover, Iris was just an adopted daughter of the Harris family.

The stories of Iris's ruthless pursuit of Brandan Hyde were a joke among Brandan Hyde's circle during leisure times. Iris wasn't as good-looking as Viola and was rigid and dull. Anyone with eyes would prefer Viola.

Not to mention, Viola loved Brandan Hyde so much that five years ago, she lost an ovary in a car accident for him, and the doctors said she might be infertile for life.

Brandan Hyde being with someone who loved him so much as Viola was only natural, a match made in heaven.

While Iris was like a lazy toad yearning for swan meat, none of Brandan Hyde's close friends thought highly of her.

On top of that, with Brandan falling ill recently and Iris making such demands to pressure him, those people might have been looking to vent on Brandan's behalf.

However, it had indeed gone beyond mere venting now.

Lives were at risk.

"What, are you feeling sorry now?"

Brandan Hyde tilted his head slightly to glance at Alex Hawk, his tone somewhat mocking.

"What's this got to do with me..." Alex Hawk said, unable to decide whether to laugh or cry.

"I'm just afraid something will happen," he couldn't help but say.

Brandan Hyde didn't reply, just lifted his head to look at Iris from afar. She had already drunk that glass of wine, and he watched her swallow, a dark shade entering his eyes.

This woman needed a lesson.

How dare she chase after him here.

Didn't she know that the thing he hated most was wherever she appeared?
