Chapter 17 - Chapter 16 Little Cotton-padded Jacket

"Aunt Zhan, it's time to eat." Gong Ruini cautiously carried the tray inside.

Zhan Jing felt that the kids were too active today, moving non-stop inside her belly since early morning.

It's a good sign when kids are active in the mother's body, indicating these two are healthy and robust, but for Zhan Jing, it's quite a burden.

After washing some vegetables, she returned to the bed to lie down, thankful for her little helper, Gong Ruini.

Looking at Gong Ruini's small frame helping to bring her lunch, Zhan Jing felt a bit embarrassed, "Ni Zi, let me do it."

Zhan Jing just wanted to get up, but the next round of exercise from the babies in her belly made it impossible for her to rise, "Kids, could you let mommy have a rest?"

Zhan Jing checked her pulse, and everything was fine, otherwise, she wouldn't be so calm; otherwise, she'd probably be in a panic by now.

However, the constant movement from the kids, regardless of its benefits, was becoming too much for her.

Gong Ruini was quite startled by Zhan Jing's suddenly protruding belly; she knew about fetal movements but had never seen babies move so vigorously, it was too much.

Gong Ruini kept clicking her tongue, previously thinking these two kids must be very healthy, but now she was worried they were too mischievous.

She had never been this close to experiencing fetal movement before, quickly placing the dishes on the table near the bed.

Then she cautiously climbed onto the bed next to Gong Ruini, looking expectant, "Aunt Zhan, can I touch it?"

"Sure." No matter how Zhan Jing tried to soothe, the two kids in her belly stubbornly refused to calm down, leaving her with no patience.

If it weren't for Gong Ruini being there, Zhan Jing might have burst out cursing, scolding these two bratty boys who only knew how to bully their poor mom without a care.

That's right, Zhan Jing is a doctor and had long confirmed through pulse-reading that she was pregnant with boys again. She'd never seen any considerate girls and could resist imagining how nice it would be to have a daughter. After all, having sons is also good luck, with many sons come many blessings.

Having spent the past few days with Gong Ruini, Zhan Jing really wished for a daughter—a daughter would be a mother's little sweetheart, cheering up the parents, helping with chores, bringing joy.

Reflecting on her mischievous boys, Zhan Jing felt there was no comparison despite her elder son being quite sensible, expecting him to charm adults with his words filled with honey was futile.

The younger son's words were sweet, but he was too much of a troublemaker, constantly getting into mischief that leaves you at your wits' end, always promising not to do silly things, yet the next time still engaging in more foolishness.

Gong Ruini didn't care about Zhan Jing's internal conflict; she just wanted to touch the belly, and then she remembered saying to talk more to the unborn babies so they'd remember the voice.

If she kept talking to these unborn kids, would they like her better after they were born?

Would this count as splitting the Zhao Family so when Zhao Xuran tries to argue with her, she could recruit Zhao Family's little aides?

And since Zhao Guangran was always showing off about being a brother again, what if these two little kids ended up ignoring his words—Gong Ruini eagerly anticipated how bad his reaction would be, thinking across places could be very amusing indeed.

Yes, that's the way to go, even though this type of prenatal teaching might not be reliable or successful, she, a little girl, had nothing to do at home—now she could run to the mountains to pick mushrooms, but what about when the thick snow falls?

It's said that one could still go to the mountains, but her little self couldn't even say if Gong Tao would be willing to take a little burden along, not to mention Gong Ruini herself wouldn't want to risk getting buried in the snow by accident that's no joke at all.

Better to sit on the cozy warm bed, eating frozen pear and persimmon, learning from her mom would be more practical—Gong Rui calculated she could definitely manage the prenatal teaching.

"Hello, little brothers and sisters, I'm your big sister Gong Ruini, you can call me Sister Ni in the future."

"Sister has a brother, Gong Ruwen, and he's the best brother in the world..."

"Sister's hometown is in the south, it doesn't snow there in winter, while here the snow could be so thick..." Gong Ruini spoke while thinking, knowing she couldn't say everything.

Pregnant women are said to become scatterbrained, but Gong Ruini didn't dare hope to have Zhan Jing, so intelligent she could birth the brilliant little fox Zhao Xuran, become careless; many things must be monitored constantly.

To better endear these little ones to her, Gong Ruini kept gently stroking Zhan Jing's belly.

Zhan Jing finally came to her senses, stunned at how Gong Ruini was chatting away while stroking her belly, and the important part was that the babies inside seemed calmer than before.

Though occasionally there was a kick or a punch, the frequency had lessened, and the strength was weaker, allowing Zhan Jing to breathe easier, otherwise, she wouldn't know what to do if it continued—but how did Gong Ruini manage this?

Zhan Jing was curious and if possible wanted to learn, so when the babies acted up she could handle it without depending on Gong Ruini each time.

How to calm the little ones down from their restless antics? Gong Ruini was puzzled, "I don't know, maybe they're tired of kicking?"

Gong Ruini couldn't be blunt saying she just kept touching them and talking, if next time Zhan Jing tried and it didn't work at all, she'd be deceiving her.

Better to show a confused look, "I was just talking to them, maybe the little brothers want to interact with people."

Is that truly the case? Zhan Jing found it rather absurd—the babies inside were so small, how could they understand this?

Zhan Jing hadn't failed to talk to her unborn kids, but she hadn't noticed them calming down—could it be that after a long day of activity, the two kids were tired?

Aside from this possibility, Zhan Jing really couldn't think of other explanations, "Hmm, maybe the brothers are tired."

See, it was fortunate she didn't go spouting theories about prenatal teaching, otherwise unknown how many people she'd scare to death—even Zhan Jing's expression showed she hadn't taken her words to heart, which was good, ensuring she wouldn't end up being viewed as some alien.

"Can I talk to the brothers in the future?" Gong Ruini looked eager, ready to play with her little brothers.

Zhan Jing didn't think much, just wishing Ni Zi, with all boys in the house, wanted to play with younger kids, of course, she agreed.
