Mia Ginger choked up, and tears fell one by one.
Some of them flowed down her cheeks, burning hot.
Even she didn't know she could cry like this, tears wouldn't stop, blurring her vision.
Dispirited and lost.
Somehow she stumbled, her knee heavily struck the hard stone surface.
"Careful."
A male voice suddenly came from the side, but it was a step too late, Camden River watched as she knelt on the dormitory steps.
He quickly walked a couple of steps.
Stooped down wanting to help her up, but suddenly remembered how she had pushed his wrist away last night.
Instinctively he withdrew his hand, and asked, "Are you alright?"
"I'm fine." Mia Ginger responded softly, supported herself with a hand on the step, turned around, and sat down in the process.
The dim yellow light of the streetlamp lit up her face, Camden River had just breathed a sigh of relief when he saw her tear-stained face and was suddenly startled.
Mia Ginger clasped her knee with one hand.
