Chapter 5 - Chapter 5 Lesson

"If you were half as sensible as Meng Meng, would we be this worried?"

These words sounded so familiar.

Rong Zhi drawled an "Oh," dragging out the tone, "Waste of time."

That indifferent attitude, like water off a duck's back! Unrepentant!

Ying Man felt she was about to faint from anger, gritted her back teeth to calm her emotions, exhaled a turbid breath, and said coldly, in a commanding tone, "I don't care whether you want it or not; anyway, I hired a tutor for you. You have to study even if you don't want to."

Rong Xian'an endured for a long time, but looking at Rong Zhi's insolent attitude, he furrowed his brows and spoke indifferently, "And what I told you this afternoon..."

"What did you say?!"

The old man's full-voiced shout came from the doorway, shocking Rong Xian'an so that his expression froze for a moment. He stood up slowly, "Dad."

The Rong siblings also stood up, obediently calling out "Grandpa".

The whole family stood up in unison.

Only Rong Zhi propped her chin up with a smile, leisurely changing her posture, until Rong Fangjun glared at her, she smirked slightly before lazily standing up.

The old man slowly walked past everyone and sat down at the head, letting out a snort from his nose, "Sit down, I have an announcement to make."

He slammed his cane hard on the floor, making a "bang" sound.

All the members of the Rong Family turned serious, even Rong Xian'an sat calmly, pressing his lips together, "Dad, what do you have to announce at the dinner table that's so important?"

"I'm afraid if I don't announce it, the grandson will run away!"

Rong Fangjun had been a soldier when he was young, and his aura was not something a businessman like Rong Xian'an could withstand. Coupled with his lifelong obedience, when he shouted, Rong Xian'an became at a loss for words, not daring to speak.

"And adopting a child? The Rong Family won't do something disgraceful by denying their bloodline just for appearances! I'm making it clear today, if Rong Zhi is coming back, she must do so legitimately. Tomorrow I'll open the ancestral hall, offer incense to the ancestors, and write Rong Zhi's name in the genealogy!"

Rong Fangjun's eyes somberly looked at his son and daughter-in-law, "You better not pull any sneaky tricks behind my back. I'm not blind yet to not see what's happening, as long as I'm here, the Rong Family listens to me."

With these words, everyone present understood.

It was just about bringing Rong Zhi back as an adopted child, and it reached the old man's ears, rousing his anger.

Rong Meng instinctively turned her head to look at Rong Zhi.

The other party was playing on her phone, the light casting on her long, thick eyelashes, her brows and eyes remained unmoved.

She really had some nerve, stirring up the grandfather's anger against her father on her first day back home.

Truly cunning.

Rong Meng wasn't the only one thinking this way; Rong Xian'an did too.

His face turned slightly pale, but he didn't dare rebut the old man, fearing that speaking harshly might anger the old man into falling ill, and he'd be labeled unfilial.

He didn't wish to argue with the old man at this critical moment, so he swallowed his pride for today!

Like swallowing a large jagged stone, Rong Xian'an felt a sore throat, his heart and lungs were stifling.

"I understand."

Rong Fangjun, getting the response he wanted, felt satisfied, but his sigh of disdain, "As long as you understand. How old are you that I still have to teach you how to handle things?"

Rong Xian'an, reprimanded in front of his wife and children, could no longer maintain his indifferent expression, looking dark and terrifying, he barely ate a few bites before saying he was leaving.

Before leaving, he turned back to glance at Rong Zhi, who was still playing on her phone.

Compared to his earlier cold demeanor, his eyes now were filled with obscure and unclear emotions.
