Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 Missed the Woman of His Heart

"Why not?" This is also what Lin Mubai wants to know.

"Yeah, why not?"

"I'm not lacking money, a house, or a car. Why should I find a man to ruin myself, serve him, take care of him, and when he's upset, he'll take it out on me."

Upon hearing this, Lin Mubai chuckled to himself. She really is a strong-willed woman. He wondered if her appearance matched her strong personality.

The youthful voice behind him continued to reach his ears: "Alright, An Nan, you win."

"Mm, let's go. I'll take you home."

Hearing the two were about to leave, Lin Mubai quickly stood up and turned his head, only to see two figures, one large and one small, already at the coffee shop's door.

The two figures were facing away from him. Lin Mubai could only see a tall figure in a black trench coat and couldn't distinguish if she was an Oriental or Westerner. But since the two had just conversed in Chinese, Lin Mubai guessed she was probably an Oriental woman.

Seeing the two figures about to leave the coffee shop, Lin Mubai was startled internally and hurriedly stood up to follow, realizing he didn't want to let her leave his sight just like that.

After taking just two steps, Lin Mubai was blocked: "Sir, you haven't paid yet."

The clerk's crisp voice instantly drew all eyes in the coffee shop towards him. Lin Mubai had never been so embarrassed in his life; with a darkened face, he hastily tossed some money and chased out of the coffee shop.

His anxious eyes scanned the surroundings, and Lin Mubai finally found that familiar figure and clearly saw the owner of the cold voice. For the first time, he was captivated by a woman, right there on the bustling street.

The owner of the cold voice wasn't a breathtaking beauty, at least not among the women Lin Mubai had known. The woman not far away could only be considered slightly above average, yet she caused Lin Mubai's heart to thump rapidly.

The woman had a tall figure, probably around one meter seventy, her skin fair from afar, though he couldn't quite tell if it was soft, with a typically Oriental face. Overall, she had a cool aura, which matched his internal speculations, but when she spoke to the small boy beside her, the gentleness in her smile was unmistakable. Instantly, Lin Mubai found himself a bit jealous, jealous that the child could receive her gentle smile.

The small boy's back was towards Lin Mubai, making it hard for him to see his face.

They walked and chatted as they went.

Not until the two figures disappeared into the bustling crowd on Fifth Avenue did Lin Mubai fully comprehend.

His first reaction was to chase after them, but unfortunately, there were too many people on Fifth Avenue at night, and Lin Mubai ultimately lost them.

Standing in the center of the street with a sense of loss, a kind of unprecedented desolation surged in his heart at the age of twenty-five.

After the frustration came resolute determination. He wanted to find her, know her, make her fall in love with him, and then cherish her for a lifetime.

He thought, this is what love at first sight must be, never expecting it to happen to him.

His beautiful eyes rose again to look at the bustling Fifth Avenue. Gone was the hesitation or the sense of loss; only firm determination remained. How could Lin Mubai, at twenty-five, let the first woman he took an interest in slip away from him so easily? Even if he had to turn the whole world upside down, he would find her and keep her by his side forever.
