The infrastructure on the northern islands is inherently lacking, and this bridge is a critical node connecting two places. Once it is destroyed, the United States forces at Changjin Lake will be completely cut off.
There's no bypass possible.
So if it gets cut off here, the only outcome might be total annihilation.
With key hubs being so important, the firepower deployed here by the United States is quite formidable, with just tanks numbering 40 and including defensive structures and various heavy firepower.
