Edward Stephens looked at her and said softly, "Take your time with the treatment; we have a lifetime to spend together anyway."
Daisy Ginger was momentarily stunned, lifting her tear-drenched eyelashes to look at the man's face.
He remained unchanged, not showing much tenderness, yet his lowered eyes, deeply gazing at her, made him appear especially affectionate.
Daisy Ginger asked blankly, "...how long is a lifetime?"
The man laughed softly, reached out, and ruffled her hair, "As long as you want it to be."
After hearing this, Daisy Ginger fell silent for a moment.
She leaned against the headboard, her gaze somewhat lost as it landed on Edward Stephens' face, pondering the meaning behind his words.
Edward Stephens was silent too; he sat at the bedside, calmly observing her face, occasionally letting his gaze fall on her scarred wrists.
