For the first time in his life, Edward Stephens felt his blood turn icy and freeze in an instant.
The voice of the policewoman on the other side continued, "...Please come to the station immediately to assist with our investigation."
Edward Stephens said, "Okay."
He hung up the phone. The always-clear mind of his froze for a moment until the phone vibrated sharply again, jolting him back to his senses. He wiped his face and answered the call.
