Nicole's arms tightened slightly around the bouquet. As she looked up at the stars scattered across the sky, Wade's gentle, refined face and Jose Floyd's frosty, indifferent features took turns flashing through her mind, making her involuntarily feel a headache and furrow her brows.
"Nicole." Wade's gentle voice sounded by her ear.
"Nicole." Jose Floyd's cold face, his detached tone also echoed in her ears.
Nicole bit her lip; her thoughts turned into a tangled mess. She turned, clutching the flowers, and headed upstairs to the second floor, no longer watching the fireworks.
As she passed by Nina and Oss, Nina deliberately shifted her body to block Nicole's path.
Nicole's eyes turned a little cool. She brushed past Nina's right shoulder, and their bodies collided.
Nina was bumped aside by Nicole; she looked at Nicole's departing back with a mocking gaze.
