Although Asher Land did not heed Colton Morton's words to arrive at the Morton Family by noon, he eventually showed up a little after six in the afternoon.
"Uncle Morton, I apologize, I just wrapped up some work at the company and that's why I was a bit delayed."
"It's no bother, no bother at all..." Colton Morton, being someone who would let things slide when given room to do so, still felt that Asher Land was granting him some respect.
"I've asked someone to prepare dinner. Asher, why don't you stay here and have dinner with us tonight."
Asher Land didn't refuse, which secretly delighted Irene Morton. Perhaps letting her father discuss the marriage with him still left some room for negotiation.
