"Sophie, cheers! Drink till we drop!" Eva drank with fierce determination, and Luke couldn't hold her back, he could only watch helplessly as she downed one drink after another.
Sophie, when drunk, was easy to take care of; at most she'd mumble a few words before closing her eyes and sleeping quietly. But Eva was different, laughing and crying, singing and causing a ruckus, and Asher gave Luke a sympathetic glance.
"Help her out."
"I want to, but this Little Chili just won't listen..." Luke said with slight frustration.
In the end, Luke exerted all his strength to get Eva out of the room, leaving the once noisy space with just Sophie and Asher.
Asher helped Sophie to lie down on the sofa, his hand barely moved away before she clung to him again.
"Asher Land..." she murmured his name, over and over, tirelessly.
"I'm here." he said softly, gently stroking her cheek.
