She pressed the button for the elevator to the CEO's office and watched the floors steadily rise, feeling an inexplicable nervousness creeping in.
"Excuse me, are you Miss Smith?" The secretary approached her and asked.
Strange, how does the secretary know her? But she didn't think much of it and simply replied, "I am."
"President Land is waiting for you, this way please." The secretary led her towards Asher Land's office.
The secretary went in first to announce her, then came out and led her into Asher Land's office.
Asher Land stood with his back to her, looking out the floor-to-ceiling window. Sophie Smith stood there for a long time before she finally spoke.
"Did you need something from me?" She dared to be so informal only when speaking to him.
He turned around, his sharp gaze directed at her.
"My woman must come at my call. I have no need for a reason to summon you."
