Once out of the cave, they were finally relieved. They quickly replaced the large stone slab and, seeing nothing amiss, left peacefully.
Upon descending the mountain, they rushed home, thankful that it was winter and no one was outside, avoiding any potential trouble if discovered.
After this back-and-forth and time spent in the cave, it was nearly two in the afternoon when they got home. Wei Kaiyun hadn't returned yet, but Old Yang and his family were at home.
"Xinyu, where did you go? Did you go up the mountain too?"
Jiang Xinyu smiled and shook her head, "I just went out for a stroll. Have you had lunch yet?"
"We've eaten already; we came back around ten this morning. We just went for a loop outside.
You haven't eaten yet, have you? There's still rice in the kitchen; I'll fry it with some eggs for you."
"No need, I'll do it myself."
Old Yang felt reassured seeing Jiang Xinyu back and didn't question anything further.
Just after finishing lunch, the men returned home.
