The quarterly Zone Ledger Review started in the main hall just after breakfast. Skritch had set up three long tables with stacks of paper, ink pots, and his newest invention:
color-coded stamps that read APPROVED, CHAOS-ADJACENT, and FIX LATER. He wore a sash that said Chief of Necessary Chaos in block letters he had stenciled himself.
"Everyone fill out Form L-47 first," Skritch announced. "That's the basic ledger of what you did last quarter. Then we cross-check against the Echo Stones for accuracy."
A farmer in the back row raised his hand. "My Echo Stone gave me someone else's regret about skipping fence repairs. I spent half the morning fixing a gap that wasn't even mine."
Murmurs spread. Raphael stood near the side wall, arms crossed, looking like he wanted to organize the entire room into neat rows. Sir Baaington sat on a low bench with six of his sheep, each wearing tiny numbered tags for identification.
