Chapter 4 - The Celestial Eyes

"This is humiliation, utter humiliation!" Sheon, who now has a humanoid figure—young man with long black hair and purple eyes—said as he walked amongst the cluster of humans in the street.

"I never imagined I'll be stuck here for over two hundred human-years, and I haven't been able to find a host."

His expression was that of irritation as he phased through the humans like a ghost, no one could see or feel him, but he could see everyone—everything.

"These weak beings don't even live up to four hell days, and yet think of themselves as the supreme predator."

Sheon roughly calculated the time difference between hell and earth and he estimated it to be fifty human-years for one hell-day. Meaning, two hundred human-years equates to four hell-days.

"They reject grace and bask themselves in meaningless pleasure. Tsk, how irritating." He clicked his tongue in annoyance. He made his way towards a very tall tree, he flew up to the tallest branch and lie down on it.

For some strange reasons, it was his favorite spot. Whenever he finished unsuccessfully searching for a host, he would come back there to rest. It was a habit he developed since he first came to earth.

Two hundred years ago when he arrived, he started out with his plan of seeking a host even as a snowflake.

But no matter what he did, he couldn't get to possess a single one, anytime he tried to come in contact with anything he would phase through them like a ghost which only annoyed him.

He became desperate to even try possessing a spirit but there was no compatibility, so he was stuck feeling irritated and in his snowflake figure for more than fifty years until earth changed.

The humans didn't feel it but he did, a crack appeared and otherworldly energy started flowing into earth.

What people saw was snow falling during summer, but what he recognized was the familiar power he used in hell but a little different.

The energy influx was too much and earth couldn't handle it, so it divided —like literally.

Now the saying about reaching the ends of the earth was possible. It was divided into three parts, the first part human came to call Heart, was the one with the most energy influx, the second was known as Areth, the energy there was half of what was in Heart, and the last was called Earth, here almost zero energy was detected.

Humans began to harness the power created a portal to travel between these three earths.

Sheon was able to regain some of his powers and maintain the human form due to the environment that has adjusted to accommodate him.

The change only increased since that day.

Apart from the earth dividing, most people started developing different abilities that were beyond human's, they were at first called monsters but when the real monsters appeared, the super humans came to to rescue, hence their titles changed to Miracles.

They later got to call the energy mana , Qi or Chi as it had different forms and uses.

The energy changed a lot about some people, it did not only give them powers but changed their whole physique, the genre and literally everything about them.

There are ones that have pointy ears when the transform—that is whenever they want to use their mana— and they have a crescent moon mark on their foreheads whenever they remain in their human form. They are called ELF.

These elves are blessed with a default skill at wielding bow and arrow and they are known as the protestors of the forest specifically. They develope skills based on role of protecting the Forests.

The other ones are known for their short stature when they transform and when they remain in their human form they are characteristized by their thick brown hair, all of them. They came to be called DWARFS

These Dwarves have twice the destructive force of a miracle, despite their stature, they pack a punch. They have the default skills of master craftsmen an a role as the guardian of the earth, so they develop skills related to their role.

While some of the elves and dwarves decided to keep living with normal humans, some created their own cities separate from the Miracles.

The Miracles who don't transform have classified themselves according to the nature of their powers

Demons:

These are set of humans who have a set of gothic skills to control the energy of other living things or connect to other realms, they include blood manipulators, vampires, beats tamers and summoners—necromancers.

Angels:

Humans who control holy elements, their attributes oppose the demons.

They include: Healers, Illuminators, Guardians—tankers.

Witches/Mages:

They control natural elements and communicate with nature directly. They manipulate mana with a wand. They can create lightening, hurricane or even earthquake and many more.

Enhancers:

They are people that can only level up their physical abilities to be superhuman, to a extent a very high level enhncer is stronger and faster than another miracle of the same level.

Beastmen:

People who developed traits and powers of beast. This includes increased sense of smell, hearing or aggresiveness.

(In each category, there is level division but check the auxiliary chapter)

Some miracles are born while some awaken later in life due to life or death experiences. And of course in-born Miracles are much more stronger than late bloomers.

The mages, created a portal to connect the three parts of earth, and that was when their function was separated based on theor focus.

The third as EARTH, where normal humans could survive and they thrived in agriculture and survived as a normal earth.

The second Areth, was known for being more technologically advanced than the others.

And the first Heart, was known for breeding more Miracles, since it's closer to the portals were monsters appear.

In some cases special Miracles are born in Areth and in some very rare cases, on earth, so they're brought to Heart and trained so they can fight off the monsters.

During these periods, Sheon wasn't resting, no, he saw hope and continued searching but still couldn't find anything until...now.

"Huh? What's that?" Sheon asked. He felt a link. A link to someone far. This is thanks to his skills that shows him his compatibility with a human.

So he hasn't been on a wild goose chase, he had a target but each time, they disappointed him.

He didn't want to get his hopes high, because it isn't the first link he's feeling and yet, none of the turned out good.

But this link he was feeling, it was strong...to strong that Sheon was certain he found his host.

"I'm coming." He said with a smile and flew towards the location he felt the link.

.....

Darkling's Empire was the city's crown jewel — an estate of unimaginable opulence and magical complexity, stretching wide enough to dwarf two golf courses. Its defenses are legendary; even the weakest servant could humble a guild master.

Inside the Darkling's compound was the definition of luxury. Many mansions stood tall in their respective positions with fancy designs with gold. In the middle of the garden was a four-winged lion waterfall made of complete gold.

The Darkling's building is not your average building, the system was built to improve mana control, so everything you had to access, dealt with mana and how good you could control it.

Too much would destroy it and too little wouldn't move it, so you had to be perfect to work for the Darkling's and of course their pay was enough to make retired guild masters of high ranks to apply.

There was a particular building, bigger than the rest, and unlike like all of the others, it was in plain black paint–It was the main building. Mostly for Mr. Darkling and his wife, his children had separate building, reason being that his aura could suffocate them.

A tall man dressed in black and white corporate walked in the hallway. A golden name tag glinted on his coat: Charles

A tall, fair-skinned man with black hair with strings of grey and blue eyes.

He reached the end of the wall, beside it was a heavy flat surfaced brick, it was black in color. Charles got on it, infusing it with mana, it glowed light blue, then it started to float upwards to the last floor, then he stepped out, the stone returned.

At the edge of where he stepped into was an orb, with enough mana applied to it, one can call the stone back up.

Without hesitation, Charles strode down the obsidian hallway, mana flickering faintly beneath his shoes. He stopped at the massive twin doors and bowed deeply.

'Sire, news from the mistress,' he said, voice taut with anticipation.

"Go ahead." A deep calm voice said.

"The mistress has delivered." He said and waited a few seconds before the giant double door creaked open by itself.

As the giant door slowly opened, it revealed a tall, fair-skinned man with jet-black hair and blood-red eyes buttoning up his white shirt: Darus Darkling, the brain behind the success of the Darkling's and one of the most powerful men the human race had to offer.

"Get everything ready for the ritual, the kids too." He instructed as he walks past Charles.

"Yes sir." Charles replied as he walked behind him. He already sent others to inform the kids ahead of time.

"May I come in young master?" A maidservant wearing the name tag 'Alice' spoke into the intercom at another room, in the children's building.

"Sure." A kid replied to her and she heaved a sigh. Alice took a step back , and compressed mana, th perfect size to fit through the orb installed in the middle of the door.

She put the blue aura into the orb and after a subtle glow, the door opened by itself.

A very wide room presented itself with a neatly arranged medium-sized bed and two pillows. Beside the bed was a small silver table with a few books neatly arranged on it, there was no sign of disorganization in the room.

She used her eyes to trace through the other doors in the room, to find the game room. With a sigh, she walks to the game room and opens the door.

She frowns in disappointment, her young master, was playing a game in a very unorganized place. Beside him were empty snack packs and water bottles.

Her young master sat on his comfortable game chair while focusing on a sixty-four-inch Television displaying the game he was playing, his game room was filled with the most updated games.

"Young master your game room is a mess, you have to clean up." The maidservant said.

The young boy, within the age rank of five to seven paused his game, turns his neck to look at the maidservant, and looks at her with a dead serious expression.

He has black raven hair and a perfectly shaped triangular face, but different colored eyes which distinguished his looks adding to his beauty. His right eye is red and his left golden.

"Why? You're my servant, that's your job, isn't it?" He says, sounding haughty.

"The mistress has delivered, and your father wants your presence for the family ritual," Alice said half annoyed, barely managing to hold herself back from clicking her tongue as she started to pick up the wastes.

She had to put up with his bratty attitude, and although she thought she would have gotten used to it by now, it felt like he always found new ways to annoy her. But she wasn't going to lose her job because of this Damm brat, no, the pay was too good to forsake

"Ugh. Really? I have to babysit a younger...uh...Is it a brother or a sister?" He groans turning back to continue his game.

"It's a boy young master." She answered.

"A baby brother huh? I'm too lazy to have to babysit a junior brother. If he cries too much, I'll kill him," the boy said flatly. "Better one punishment now than years of annoyance, right?" Alice didn't answer. Her silence wasn't approval — it was survival.

"I know that silence, it means my idea is superb. I can't wait to welcome my baby brother." He said and left to get prepared. Alice continued with the clean up, once she was done she left.

....

Just as Sheon who is now in form of a snowflake floated around looking for who to possess, a small purple rune formed above him and sucked him in.

At the same time, a newborn child was layed down in his crib to rest after he was cleaned up, the rune appeared on his forehead and once it sparked it disappeared.

"Huh? Did you see that?" The nurse that got a glimpse of what happened said.

"See what?"

"I think his forehead just glowed." She tried to explain.

"Hurry up let's get out of here, the senior nurses will be here soon. Of course strange things happen, he is probably a miracle (what they call people with powers) and not ordinary like us.

"I guess so..." The other nurse said and they left.

.....

Sheon found himself in a dark room, devoid of any form of light. He was now back in his original form, but before he could get the chance to wonder, a pair of glistering purple eyes caught his attention.

As he looked at it, his eyes got hooked, he couldn't look away no matter how much he wanted. He recognized those eyes. It's the eyes that once sent angels down into the abyss.

Two radiant eyes stared back — not with hatred, but with infinite indifference. That was worse.

They didn't see a devil. They saw a mistake.

The Celestial Eyes.

Fear gripped Sheon, so much that he was frozen and slowly began losing his consciousness. It wasn't long before he fell down. A devil got defeated by a pair of celestial eyes.
