In the canon, Charles and Erik don't need any help from someone in recruiting, so it may be Charles trying to test my strength.

Well, whatever, there's no reason for me to be scared of him. Because, unlike Shaw, I could wipe the floor with him.

With that in mind, I returned to my training.

~ Next Day ~

Like the day before, I woke up early. Handled the usual. Threw on a black shirt and a pair of brown pants — nothing flashy. Just something casual. A reddish-brown pair of boots completed the look. With Ana in her Belt form around my waist, now, here I was, standing at the entrance of the CIA headquarters, waiting.

Waiting for Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr(Magneto).

And they were late. I'd been standing here for 15 minutes already.

Now, 15 minutes might not seem like much. But when you know someone like Sebastian Shaw could make a move within the week, every second starts to matter.

I leaned against the doorway, arms crossed, staring down the empty corridor. Just as I was about to mentally curse the entire lineage of both men, the two of them finally strolled in — like they had all the time in the world.

"Apologies for the delay," Charles said, smiling as he approached.

I didn't answer. Just gave him a blank stare.

Erik(Magneto) stayed silent. Not because I intimidated him — he's not that kind of man. But he could sense the tension in the air. The kind that wrapped around Charles like a noose.

And no — it wasn't because they were late.

No, Charles was the one who asked me to come. And I knew why. He wanted to "see for himself." Size me up. Measure my power. Maybe even test me.

But if he thought I was some chess piece on his board, he was dead wrong.

I took a step toward him, slow and deliberate. My eyes didn't leave his.

"Xavier," I said, voice low. "I'm only gonna say this once, so listen carefully — keep your little schemes to yourself, or I swear, I'll fold them up and shove them right up your ass."

His smile vanished. My stare didn't.

Erik(Magneto) stepped in between us, clearing his throat. "I believe we've got someone to recruit," he said quickly.

Nice try at a subject change. I let it slide. For now.

Without a word, I turned and headed for the car parked outside. Charles and Erik(Magneto) followed.

I claimed the front passenger seat. Erik(Magneto) got behind the wheel. Charles slid into the back. Erik(Magneto) didn't ask for directions. Just started driving.

I stared out the window in silence. Let the wind carry my thoughts. Charles stayed quiet too, probably wondering how to fix a situation he'd already fumbled.

Eventually, he spoke up.

"Mr. Silver… I apologize. I was just being cautious."

I didn't look at him. "Where are we going?" I asked — flat, dismissive. Letting him know the conversation was over.

"To the western part of Virginia," Charles said, tone more careful now.

That made me raise an eyebrow. Western Virginia? I tried to remember anyone from there. Came up blank. Or maybe my memory was fuzzy.

As we drove on, I noticed Erik glancing at us through the rearview a few times. But he didn't say anything. His focus stayed mostly on the road.

Compared to his cinematic counterpart, this world's Erik Lehnsherr was quiet. Stoic. A man of few words. Kind of like a certain black-haired, revenge-obsessed, duck-butted ninja I once knew from a very different world…

And honestly? I didn't mind.
