"I didn't know you could look deader than before," Iven said, feeling speechless.
Cail was slumped down into the sofa and was lying like a baby. He looked like he had just got punched with the black circle in his eye, and his lips were as pale as a sheet.
Iven couldn't help but ask, "You aren't anaemic, right?"
I probably am, Cail thought as he remembered the liters of blood that he lost. He shook his head. "I'm fine."
Then he looked around. "Where's Jael again?"
Iven tossed a square pillow at him. "You scum really aren't listening." Then he pointed at the stairs beside the decorative flower on the big vase. "I told you, he's upstairs, sleeping. He looked very out of it, but he is sleeping."
Cail hugged the pillow that Iven tossed. He thought of that possessed guy. Actually, it wasn't that he had never thought of letting Jael stay at his house, but the cat thing is actually real. He thought that the probability of Jael dying first because of an allergy is big if he stayed at Cail's.
Besides, he thought, That guy had multiple void energies with him.
Because of the void energy that he left on Jael, although he couldn't sense anything from more than a mile away, now up close, he could sense the lingering void energy that his void energy managed to capture while inside Jael's body.
People who checked on him were more than Cail expected. "Aside from Mr. Quill, there are other people who checked Jael and left some kind of alarm. It was basically that if they sensed more than normal void energy from Jael, they would be notified."
Looking at the clueless Iven, Cail warned, "If you notice something wrong with Jael, give me a call."
Iven, who was sweeping the floor, looked confused. "What 'something' wrong are you talking about?"
With his head buried under the small square pillow, Cail said creepily, "Well, you know those exorcist-type movies. If you notice Jael doing those types of moves—"
Cail once again felt another pillow thrown at him. He looked at Iven and saw him looking at Cail angrily. "Stop scaring me! You know I hate that stuff!"
Seeing that he was really scared, Cail laughed darkly. "Hehehehehe. Just like I said, call me if something like that happens."
Iven puffed up his cheeks in anger. He ignored Cail and continued his sweeping.
DING DONG.
The doorbell sounded. Iven put aside the broom and walked toward the door. Before opening it, he first looked through the peephole just to be cautious. Then, seeing the two people outside, he was surprised.
"Sirae? What is she doing here together with Oris?" Although Iven liked sweet and beautiful girls, one should know that their group isn't as close to Sirae. Except for the Club, they had no contact with Sirae at all.
Cail sat up and narrowed his eyes. He wanted to punch that Oris guy in the face. Didn't he already say that he hated people bringing strangers to his territory? Iven's house counts as his territory.
Oris knew him well, although not as well as Jael, he still knew that he had certain taboos. What would cause him to bring Sirae here?
Iven gave Cail a side-eye, feeling that something big would happen. Seeing that Cail was really frowning, he had to mediate the situation. "Hey hey hey. Maybe Oris had his reasons. Don't explode yet and let him explain."
Cail leaned on the sofa with his arms crossed as he looked at the door coldly. Iven gulped, but he couldn't let the two people outside wait. He opened the door and saw that Oris looked very apprehensive.
"Cail, Iven, hahahahaha, hello," he said very awkwardly.
Cail didn't give him a good look. He scanned Sirae head to toe and asked, "Oris, what's up with her?"
Oris looked like he wanted to say something but held back. "She was concerned about Jael, so she wanted to visit him."
Iven nudged Oris's foot a bit and shot Cail a look. Oris noticed that Cail's face looked very bad, so he really had to give him a discreet wink, attempting to signal that what was happening wasn't what he thought it was.
Cail still looked disgruntled but didn't explode on the spot. He lay down on the couch and covered himself with the blanket that Iven brought out.
Iven and Oris looked awkward, but they still tried to entertain the guest. "Sirae, why don't you take a seat? Sorry for not bringing out anything to eat, I didn't know that you were coming," Iven said.
Sirae shook her head, still looking timid. "It's fine... I was just concerned about you guys. Seeing that there were two accidents, first it was Cail, now it's Jael. I just want to know if you guys are alright."
Oris started to feel on edge. He saw Cail peeking from under the covers, glaring at him. Seeing that his friend misunderstood him, he was a bit impatient. He couldn't help but say, "Is that the reason why you were standing outside Iven's house?"
Iven went silent and looked at Sirae. Sirae didn't seem to have expected that Oris would say that. She nervously shifted in her seat. "I'm too embarrassed to go in..." she said silently.
Cail didn't let her off. He said what the other two of his friends wanted to say. "How did you know Iven's address?"
Sirae froze. She looked at Cail with tears in her eyes. "I-I didn't mean to be like that. I just wanted to know if you guys are alright."
Seeing that she's crying, Iven and Oris had no choice but to put their suspicions aside. Oris comforted her, "Ahem, Cail didn't mean it that way. He was just asking. Don't cry."
Cail wasn't buying those tears. He continued to press, "Why are you crying as if I bullied you? You're the one acting like a creep standing outside Iven's house. Now you're acting as if you're a victim? Hypocrite."
Hearing that, Sirae burst into tears. Oris and Iven panicked. Iven had to step up. "Uhmm, Cail, why don't we check on Jael?"
Although they thought that Cail was being too much, they really didn't want to blame their friend for a stranger, so Iven awkwardly wanted to pull Cail out of the situation.
Cail wasn't having it, but Iven pulled him up and dragged him upstairs while Oris was clumsily comforting Sirae.
After stopping at the hallway, Iven looked at Cail and scratched his head. "I don't know why she's here, but I think you don't need to take it that far. Well, at least don't make the situation awkward."
Cail rolled his eyes. "If I didn't make the atmosphere awkward, it wouldn't prove anything."
Iven looked confused. "What do you mean?"
Cail didn't answer and just walked toward the room where Jael was sleeping.
