Chapter 42 - Chapter 40

"You sided with them?" Wolf growled weakly, glaring at Rouge.

Rouge nodded. "Indeed, I have."

"You fucking...traitor..."

"I am, aren't I?" Rouge questioned rhetorically. "Oh well," he shrugged nonchalantly. "If I'm a traitor for not wanting to be Dad's glazer, then so be it." He noticed the others approaching and waved. "Yo."

"Hey, Rouge!" Shushu greeted enthusiastically. "It's been a while."

"Has it?" Rouge's expression twisted into confusion as he scratched the back of his head. "Eh, probably has been. I've been enjoying my retirement." He greeted the others. "Kyoka, Himari, strangers."

Himari nodded. "Hey, Rouge."

"Rouge," Kyoka said politely. "We certainly weren't expecting you. Not that I'm complaining." She glared at Fenrir. "He was giving us a lot of trouble."

"No problem. Glad to be of service."

"Okay, who the hell is he?" Yachiho asked irritably.

"I'm Rouge, another one of Cain's brothers," he said lazily, making those who didn't know him feel wary, which was understandable given the circumstances. "And don't worry, I'm not here to cause trouble—well, at least not for you guys," he added with amusement.

"Jeez, how reassuring..." Sahara retorted sarcastically.

Rouge chuckled softly. "Well, since I'm here, I might as well fix you guys up." With a hand gesture, everyone was enveloped in a green aura, restoring them to full condition and repairing their clothes. "That should do it."

Everyone except those who knew Rouge was surprised.

"Do all of you just have broken-ass powers?" Tenka couldn't help but ask.

Everyone she had met from Cain's family so far had incredibly powerful and versatile abilities. Saying she was envious of them would be an understatement.

"Pretty much, although that wasn't an ability; it was just a basic healing spell," he admitted, much to everyone's astonishment.

"Of fucking course it is..." Kyoka muttered enviously before sighing. "What are you going to do with him?" she asked, gesturing to Fenrir.

Rouge sighed. "This."

Faster than anyone could react, he shot five rounds into Fenrir's skull, making everyone flinch. Fenrir collapsed to the ground, blood pooling beneath him.

"Is he actually dead?" Honami asked.

"Yes and no." Everyone looked at Rouge, confused.

"What do you mean?" Kyoka asked.

"Our father, being the cautious man he is, has a fragment of each of our souls with him," he revealed, shocking everyone. "As long as he has those fragments, he can bring us back from the dead, effectively making us immortal. Pretty OP, huh?"

Kyoka sighed. "Every time I learn more about your family, you guys just become more terrifying."

Rouge chuckled softly before his expression hardened slightly. "Well, as much as I enjoy our little chat, I should go help the others deal with Jormund."

"We'll come with."

The older man shook his head.

"You guys stay here," he ordered, and the women protested quickly.

"But we can help!" Kyoka argued, but Rouge shook his head.

"You'd just be a liability," he said bluntly, making them bristle with anger. "There's a reason Jormund is named after the world serpent. He produces venom potent enough to kill even someone with high regeneration if he gets enough of it into their system. So yeah. You're staying here. However, just in case you don't listen," he made another hand gesture, and a barrier surrounded them. "Alright, later."

He gave them a peace sign before turning around and walking off, ignoring their protests.

— With Cain, Zero-Two, Uta, and Lanius, twenty minutes earlier —

After being thrown hundreds of meters and crashing hard to the ground, Jormungandr managed to get back to his feet, only to be greeted by a brutal right hook to the jaw from Cain. His head snapped back with an audible crack, and he stumbled, blood and teeth flying from his mouth like confetti.

Quick to retaliate, Jormungandr delivered a powerful uppercut that successfully sent Cain a few feet into the air. As Cain was in mid-air, Jormungandr spun around with his tail, preparing to send him flying.

However, before his tail was about to make contact, Jormungandr felt someone grab it and jerk him back. He was then lifted into the air and slammed into the ground. The overgrown lizard let out a pained snarl, feeling the sharp agony of his tail being ripped off.

"FUCKING CUNT!" Jormungandr roared as he struggled to get back on his feet. His eyes locked onto his nephew Lanius, who was holding his severed tail in one hand, sporting a shit-eating grin.

"Hey, Unc!" Lanius waved mockingly with his free hand. "Hope you don't mind if I borrow this for a minute!"

Before Jormungandr could muster a response, Lanius smacked him across the face with the severed tail, sending him hurtling backward. Just as he was about to land, Cain swooped in and struck him with his tail, redirecting him right back toward Lanius.

Seconds later, Jormungandr found himself soaring back toward Cain, who repeated the action, hurling him back to his son with even more force than before.

What followed was nothing short of utterly humiliating for Jormungandr; if anyone from Eden witnessed it, he knew he would never hear the end of it from his siblings. For nearly a minute, Cain and Lanius engaged in what could only be described as a twisted game of tennis, with Jormungandr serving as the ball.

Each time he was struck, the pain intensified, and the speed at which he flew between his father and son ramped up to the point where his body felt like it was catching fire, making it increasingly difficult to maintain his focus.

The pain and nausea were immense, but he could tolerate them. What he couldn't handle was the relentless mocking attitude of Cain and Lanius.

The two laughed and casually conversed about random topics, occasionally throwing in jokes or snarky remarks at his expense, all while continuing to use him like a glorified tennis ball.

They treated this fight like a game; they treated him like a joke. It stung Jormungandr's pride and made his blood boil. If Cain and Lanius thought they could get away with dismissing him as a non-threat, Jormungandr would make them regret it.

Ignoring the pain and nausea, Jormungandr concentrated intensely and transformed into his secondary form a few seconds later. Cain had to jump back several meters as Jormungandr soared toward him during the transformation. When Jormungandr landed, a loud boom resonated, and a massive cloud of debris erupted into the air.

Cain feigned a disappointed sigh. "Well, it looks like the fun is over, kiddo."

"That sucks," Lanius replied, doing his best to feign disappointment as well. "I was just a few seconds away from winning."

Cain took offense to that. "You, winning? Last time I checked, I was about to win."

His son looked at him incredulously. "Have you gone senile? Because that's a load of bullshit."

Before they could bicker any further, Uta and Zero-Two arrived.

"Boys, boys, boys. No arguing! Use your words, like the big boys I know you can be," Uta said, glancing at the two men with an amused smile while playfully wiggling her finger back and forth.

Zero chuckled at her comment, while Cain and Lanius rolled their eyes in unison.

"Ha, ha, ha, very funny," Cain said sarcastically. "What took you two so long to get here anyway?"

"We were here the entire time. We just didn't want to interrupt your father-and-son bonding," Zero replied, sounding amused.

Cain chuckled lightly. "How considerate of you both. But you two really should've joined in on the fun. We could've done a free-for-all or even a two-vs.-two."

"True..." The four of them turned their heads when they heard a growl coming from Jormungandr's direction. "Unfortunately, it seems too late for another game of tennis now. Tch, dammit, now I really want to play tennis."

"We can do that after we jump, my brother."

When the debris cleared, it revealed Jormungandr in his secondary form—a colossal serpent. He had a head resembling that of a cobra, a snout shaped like a crocodile, and an elongated body stretching over two hundred meters long. Thick, keeled scales with razor-sharp protrusions covered him from head to tail.

Jormungandr glared at the four of them and growled, "You still think this is a game, Cain?"

"I mean... Yeah, I do..." Cain replied honestly, prompting chuckles from everyone except Jormungandr.

On his own, Jormungandr posed little threat—at least not to Cain. Thanks to his regeneration and first ability, Cain was nearly immune to Jormungandr's venom. As for the others, Cain wasn't too concerned; if any venom touched them, Uta could easily reverse its effects, alleviating much of his worry.

Moreover, without Fenrir's assistance, Jormungandr struggled to keep up with Cain in a fight. What chance did he have against not only Cain but also Lanius, Uta, and Zero? The answer: not much.

Even in his gigantic form, he didn't pose much of a challenge.

Jormungandr's anger flared at his youngest sibling's response, intensifying his desire to defy their father and kill Cain. Tired of talking, he opened his mouth and unleashed a massive stream of pressurized, scalding hot water that surged forward like a raging river.

The four quickly evaded his attack and countered with their own. Uta and Lanius fired energy blasts aimed straight at Jormungandr's eyes, temporarily blinding him. Just after their assault, Zero-Two descended from above, her right leg raised high. She brought her leg down, and when the back of her foot struck Jormungandr's skull, he was momentarily stunned and began to lose his balance, toppling over.

Before he could hit the ground, Cain tackled him. As they fell, Cain repeatedly stabbed his claws into Jormungandr's side, climbing up to his head, and drove his fist through Jormungandr's left eye, emerging out the back of his skull.

Jormungandr growled in anger and agony as he felt Cain's arm lodged deep within his skull. Before he could retaliate, his entire body went rigid, as if being tightly squeezed from both inside and out, forcing all the air from his lungs and leaving him utterly defenseless against Cain's assault.

Speaking of Cain, as soon as Jormungandr felt this constriction, he withdrew his arm from the serpent's skull and unleashed a torrent of fire into the void where Jormungandr's left eye had been.

Within seconds, the interior of Jormungandr's skull turned to ash as a torrent of flames erupted from his right eye. The fire rapidly traveled down his body, incinerating everything in its path.

Jormungandr's anger surged to new heights, fueled by the immense pain he was experiencing. This rising fury temporarily amplified his strength and regeneration, granting him the power to break free from the constriction that had held him captive.

With a newfound ferocity, he used his massive head to slam Cain into the ground repeatedly. When Cain's grip finally loosened, Jormungandr hurled him into the sky. He lunged forward, fangs bared, ready to pierce his younger brother's flesh. But before he could reach Cain, something seized his head and yanked him back violently.

The massive serpent quickly broke free from the grip and turned to glare at his assailant—Uta. She stood ten meters away, appearing amused and carefree, her hands casually tucked into her pockets.

"You..." Jormungandr growled.

"Me?" Uta feigned confusion, pointing at herself. "What about me?"

Realizing she was trying to provoke him, Jormungandr refrained from responding and lunged at her. However, he didn't get far; Lanius and Zero suddenly appeared in his line of sight and punched him squarely in the face. The combined strength of their attack sent the massive two-hundred-meter serpent soaring high into the sky.

Lanius and Zero watched as Jormungandr ascended, only to crash-land seven hundred meters away moments later with a thunderous thud.

Zero-Two whistled, clearly impressed by the distance they managed to send Jormungandr, and bumped fists with Lanius.

"I'll give that a ten out of ten," Cain commented from the side. "What about you, babe?" he asked Uta.

Uta hummed thoughtfully. "I'll give it an eight point five. They could've easily made it a thousand meters," she replied, making Cain, Lanius, and Zero roll their eyes in unison. They didn't bother arguing against her score and patiently waited for Jormungandr to return.

"You know, I thought fighting Uncle would be a bit more fun. This is just sad," Lanius said, pulling out his phone to scroll through social media. "I almost wish we were fighting Uncle Wukong instead."

Cain snorted. "No, you don't. If a COD troll, a rage baiter, and a monkey with ADHD had a baby, it would be Wukong. You'd probably die from him talking your ear off before he even tries to kill you."

"He can't be that bad..." Lanius scoffed. "Can he?" He looked at his father for reassurance, and when he didn't get any, he paled visibly. "I take back what I said."

"Good choice."

Moments later, they felt the ground begin to shake beneath them, and the sky darkened ominously. The four of them looked up to see a gigantic tsunami towering over them.

"Aw, how adorable. Your brother is trying to bathe us. How considerate," Uta said, amused and completely unfazed by the colossal wave. "Too bad I already took a shower."

With a nonchalant wave of her hand, the tsunami vanished into thin air as if it had never existed.

Zero's eyes widened in surprise. "Wow. That was something," she said, glancing at Uta. "What the fuck is your Peach Blessing?"

The singer smirked. "Imagination. I can imagine anything into or out of existence," she revealed, making Zero's eyes widen further.

"Now that's fucking broken..." Zero frowned and asked, "Wait, if you can do that, why don't you just imagine his brother out of existence?"

"Everything comes at a cost." A sword materialized in Uta's hands, shimmering with an otherworldly glow. "Imagining or erasing something like this doesn't take much at all." The sword faded from existence, dissipating like mist. "But if I were to imagine or erase something as enormous as a multi-storied building or as formidable as Jormungandr, it would take a significant toll on my body, and the likelihood of failure would be pretty high."

Zero nodded in understanding, a pout forming on her lips. "Well, that really sucks. I guess I'll just have to wait a little longer to fuck Cain." A bit of drool escaped her mouth as she vividly imagined Cain impaling her with his cock.

Her comment earned an eye twitch from Uta, a disgusted gag from Lanius, and a chuckle from Cain.

"Lady! I don't need to hear about you and my dad's sex life!" Lanius exclaimed indignantly.

Zero looked at him with a mock apologetic smile. "Oh, my bad. I forgot you were here."

A tick mark appeared on Lanius's forehead; he clenched his fists, glaring fiercely at her. He was about to retort but stopped when he saw Jormungandr approaching rapidly.

"I'm kicking your ass later," Lanius told Zero before turning to face Jormungandr. "So what's the game plan? Want to try another game of tennis?"

"As much as I'd enjoy that, we need to wrap this up. My link with the others got cut off," Cain replied.

When Jormungandr was about twenty meters away, he burrowed into the earth.

"What the—" Before Lanius could finish his sentence, dozens of scalding geysers burst from the ground. "Fuck!" he cursed, feeling one of the geysers graze his arm, prompting him and the others to flee the area.

Once he reached a safer spot, Lanius examined his arm, finding that the skin had been burned away, exposing the underlying muscles. His regeneration kicked in, though it was slower than usual, and he frowned at the sight.

'Note to self: don't get touched by those,' Lanius thought, slightly annoyed.

As tough as he is, his regeneration is nowhere near the level of his father's, so getting hit by one of those geysers is a big no-no.

Uta appeared beside him and examined his arm. With a wave of her hand, the wound vanished.

Looking at her only child, she said in a concerned, motherly tone, "Be careful, alright?"

Lanius nodded. "Got it. Now let's go kick that oversized snake's ass!"

Speaking of snakes, Jormungandr suddenly burst from the ground, unleashing a torrent of toxic green gas. Uta made the gas disappear in an instant, leaving Jormungandr confused. Seizing the opportunity, she then fired a massive energy beam at him, striking him squarely in the face and sending him staggering backward.

Out of nowhere, a giant metal bat materialized behind Jormungandr, swinging with incredible force and connecting with the back of his head, causing him to stumble forward. Lanius wasted no time; his fist met his face, sending him right back toward the bat, and just like that, the back-and-forth continued.

The cycle ended when Cain grabbed Jormungandr's skull with a fierce grip while Zero-Two seized the end of his body, pulling with all their might. Jormungandr let out a cry of agony as he felt himself being brutally torn in half.

He struggled to break free, but it was to no avail. The combined strength of Cain and Zero-Two was too much for him, and moments later, he was split in two, blood and internal organs spilling out.

He immediately began regenerating the lost half of his body, but Uta wouldn't let that happen. With a clench of her hand, she halted Jormungandr's regeneration at the cost of half her physical and anti-demonic energy.

The singer fell to her knees, breathing heavily, sweat pouring down her face.

"Fuck... I'm really out of shape," she said between breaths.

If she were in her prime, this would have been a piece of cake.

Lanius appeared by her side, concern etched on his face. "Are you okay, Mom?"

"Yeah... just a bit out of shape. Nothing a little strength training, cardio, and some rough lovemaking with your father can't fix," she joked, earning a disgusted look from her son.

"Oh my fucking god! I don't need to know this!" he exclaimed in irritation before walking away, much to the singer's amusement.

'Fucking with him is too easy,' Uta thought, shaking her head in amusement.

Back with the others, the moment Jormungandr felt his regeneration come to a halt, he visibly panicked, thrashing around in a desperate attempt to break free from Cain's ironclad grip on his skull.

"You're not going anywhere," Cain said to Jormungandr before slamming his head to the ground. He then placed several movement restriction seals on Jormungandr's body before dropping to the ground. "Well, with that, it looks like we didn't need to help the others after all." His comment earned confused looks from the others.

Before anyone could ask what he meant, Rouge appeared, causing Zero, Lanius, and Uta to tense.

Rouge glanced at Cain, then at Jormungandr, and back at Cain. "Well, color me impressed. I thought you four would be struggling against him, especially in that form."

"They're tougher than they look," Cain replied dryly.

Rouge chuckled. "Clearly." He then turned his gaze to Lanius and Uta. "So this is your boy and baby mama? Huh, I certainly didn't expect that." He turned to Zero, who had returned to her original form. "And let me guess, another one of your lovers?"

"That's right, I'm baby mama number two," Zero said proudly, earning a raised eyebrow from Rouge.

Rouge looked at Cain with a playful glint in his eyes. "Wow, little brother. You only have one other baby mama? I'm honestly quite disappointed. With how often you get around, I expected you to have an army of children by now."

Cain rolled his eyes and retorted sarcastically, "Ha, ha, very funny. If you're done with the jokes, could you send this asshole back to our sperm donor?" He gestured toward the restrained Jormungandr.

"Sure." Rouge shrugged, walked up to Jormungandr, and placed his hand on his snout, draining him of everything and forcing him out of transformation.

"Fuck..." Jormungandr cursed, glaring at Rouge. "You...fucking...cunt..."

"Good to see you too, Jormund," Rouge replied, sounding amused. "Tell Father I said hi." He then pulled out his handgun and shot Jormungandr in the head.

"Since you're here, could you—" Cain began, but Rouge cut him off mid-sentence.

"I already took care of One-Tap and Snatch."

"Oh, alright then. We should head back to the others; I have a lot of explaining to do," Cain sighed, not looking forward to it.

End.
