Chapter 2 - Soul weapon

"Everyone follow me now."

Jin stood from his throne and held his wife's hand and helped her get on her feet, then they began walking towards the now open door.

He turned his face towards the others and said with a commanding voice.

"Let's go."

Aamon and Rose looked at each other before following their parents. Behind them were all the other followers of the family.

It didn't take them long before arriving at the family's storage room. It was heavily guarded with multiple men wearing black suits, but what was the most frightening was the technology used to unlock the adamantium door, well the adamantium metal is known to be one of the hardest materials on the planet, it's around 1000 times stronger than steel and is invulnerable to any kind of heat or other destructive forces, and the cost of this metal is exhortation. It was a terrifying testament to the family's power and the lengths they would go to protect their secrets.

After Jin passed through all the tests to unlock the vault door. It opened.

After everyone entered the chamber, they stopped behind a transparent barrier that separated them from the other half of the room where weapons of all sorts of kinds could be seen, swords, bows, daggers, spears, and many other types were there.

After that, Aamon and Rose stepped forward towards the barrier and stopped around a hand length distance from it.

The process of acquiring a soul weapon and awakening was different for those of high status and those of average status.

The ones from the upper echelons awaken at the age of six, the reason is that Soul weapons are limited in numbers and difficult to acquire.

But for children born in normal families, when they reach the age of 12, they need to pass a certain test where they get their soul level measured and if they pass the requirements, of course the number of people who pass the required are few that estimate around the thousands of the millions of children that pass the test, then they are sent to their city's storage room where Soul weapons are located and get their awakening ceremony, and after that they must attend an academy.

Aamon looked at Rose and was about to ask her something, but she cut him off by saying.

"So, who's gonna start first?"

"Well, as they say, ladies first." Aamon said with an amused tone.

"Oh, what a gentleman you are." She replied with a playful smirk on her face. "Well then, I'll go first."

"Good luck."

"I wish the same for you."

Rose placed her hand on the surface of the barrier and after a few seconds of heavy silence, her eyes began to glow and a green and purple aura began to emanate from the point of contact, swirling and intensifying as if drawing energy from within the very fabric of the magical shield.

Some people screamed in awe.

"No way a dual awakening."

Suddenly, their attention was drawn to the two weapons that were floating, and headed towards her, a green bow made of pure of a fine white metal that looked impossibly stong yet flexible and a long, slender sword forged from amethyst, both humming with contained power.

The first one that arrived was the green bow, its ethereal form shimmering as it halted mid-air before her, nocked with an arrow of pure light.

The moment she grasped it, a wave of energy ascended the room, Rose looked hypnotized by it. She started to pull the string, and green mana began to condence around her fingertips, taking the form an arrow.

Everyone watching was mesmerized by the phenomenon happening before them.

Until she released her hold, and a whistling sound could be heard inside the room.

Aamon eyes grew in panic as he saw the arrow arriving at the speed of sound before him, aiming at his head. His body couldn't react to it. He felt his heart beating so hard that he could hear it. He saw his life unravel before his eyes helplessly.

But suddenly, just as the arrow was about to hit him, a silhouette emerged from the shadow under Aamon and hit the arrow right in the middle with a black dagger.

It was Jin, and as his title suggests, "The shadow emperor", all it took was a fraction of a second to dive into the shadows and decimate the attack to nothingness with his dagger.

Rose, on the other hand, looked with unfocused eyes at Aamon, ones that slowly regained their clarity with passing second, and as she realized what she has just done, tears began to form, cascading down her cheeks . Then she began to run towards the boy with jet-black hair , and the moment she got close enough, she jumped on him, and that caused both of them to fall on the hard ground.

Aamon was surprised by her reaction as he felt her embracing him in a tight clutch. She was crying, her face buried on his chest.

"I'm s-sorry... I-I'm sorry.... I didn't, I didn't mean to do it, I didn't want to...to hurt you, I would never hurt you, not you."

After hearing her mutter, he felt his lips rise into a gentle, reassuring smile. He cupped her cheeks with his hand, making sure she looked at him in the eyes, at the moment, all he could see was a cute face with deep look of pure concern.

"It's okay, I'm fine, you can see it didn't even touch me."

He said with a gentle tone trying to calm her down while petting her head.

"So you're not angry at me?" She whispered, with her pink round eyes still dripping with tears.

Aamon looked at her with a serene expression, yet he didn't what to say when he saw her looking at him with that kind of face. But he started by wiping her tears with his fingers and then he said.

"How could I be angry at you, when you're such an adorable face."

Rose's face began to feel her face heat up, and a blush appeared on her. As her cheeks puffed up like little red balloons - so full of warmth and shyness.

"Dummy...."

Aamon saw her expression, he could feel his heart beating like the moment the arrow was about to pierce his head, but this time it was different, it brought warmth to his body.

'So beautiful...'
