Kaiden Grey stared at Mizuno's empty clothes in the depot's loading yard. A moment ago, a vampire had been dying inside them. Now Alice couldn't find even a trace of the spell that had killed her.
"Could whoever did that reach the others?" Alexandra asked from behind her barrier.
Kaiden turned toward the survivors gathered around his protector. Toru was still holding his phone, though he had stopped speaking into it.
"Alice?"
The halo brightened above his head as his sister examined the people on the ramp.
"I can't feel anything pulling at them. But I couldn't feel that spell before it reached her, either."
Alexandra kept her gold around the patients while Sonoda spoke urgently to the lieutenant. Medical personnel came forward with stretchers, and the analyst translated the family's warning before anyone approached the discarded clothes.
